HI zk745678,

02-04-2012
I had met the same problem, Pitbull doesn't open other trade except after the start. But the problem was not the EA, the problem was Crap-T4. I explain:

The switch that allow to open new trade is:

Code: Select all

 //Open trades
      if (OldTradingTime != iTime(NULL, TradingTimeFrame, 0) && !DoneForToday)
      {
         OldTradingTime = iTime(NULL, TradingTimeFrame, 0);
         LookForTradingOpportunities();
      }
so, assigned 0 to Doneforday, the only condition remained was OldTradingTime != iTime().
Then, I had plotted on the chart the variables above but after two hours were still the same (my chart was on TF15), and obviously PB didn't open any other trade.

05-04-2012

after three days of tests, I noticed that seem a problem of iTIME() update , because on TF 1 the PB work right, open trade after a "closealltrades" function, open other trade of pairs that gone over the Threshold. If I come back to TF15, PB open three or four trade at the begin and nothing else, only close all if target is reached. As wrote above, the value of the function iTime() plotted on the chart doesn't change also after hours (sometimes). I tried to use Time[] data array but Empty4 doesn't update it also.
I think it's better to find a workaround instead to use itime() function, e.g. extract values from TIME_MINUTE and activate LookForTradingOpportunities() when 0 - 15 - 30 - 45 are reached, for simulate a TF15.
In these three days I changed Criminal from alpari to Gomarket but nothing is changed.

Steve, what do you think about?

I'm not sure if this offers any clues but after PB hadn't traded for a few days days, I took a look at account history. As soon as i changed the custom period to "today" trades started firing off. That was only yesterday so I'm unsure yet whether it could suffice as a permanent fix or not.

Steve would it be possible to add an option to hedge after a certain DD in pips? For example GBPJPY triggered a sell earlier today and went into crazy DD, and now its at the topmost slot which would be a buy. The EA isnt allowing a buy for GBPJPY I guess because it already has a short trade for this pair.

Could something be added so that in the above example, after GBPJPY dropped say 100 pips to place a hedge to help control the DD? Thanks.

Hi faze,

I'm watching this system since FF and I noticed that when a basket went to the wrong direction, is very difficult that could come back to BE. I believe that a simple Basket SL could be better. The P/L ratio is about 1:3 - 1:4 , so , if you put a BSL 1:1 or !:1.5 you are always in gain.

HI

this could be a workaround for this EA for substitute iTime() function:

Code: Select all

bool SyncroTime()
{
   string minuti = StringSubstr( TimeToStr(TimeCurrent(), TIME_DATE|TIME_MINUTES) , 14 , 2 ) ;
   if (minuti == "00" || minuti == "15" || minuti == "30" || minuti == "45" )
   {
      return(true);
   }
   return(false);
}
In this case the code simulate a TF15.

Ok.... is a very "raw" piece of code :D but on PB run well!

Happy Easter to all.

jj thats an idea, I will setup mptm to run along side this and set a basket stop loss at 1.5

Hi faze,

1.5 what?

1.5 x TP?

yes I have steve's mptm EA monitoring stoploss on the overall basket. TP is set at $5 and SL is set at $7.50, this about makes up for the spread on opening 4 trades and then some.

This is spot on. Just is the case with cointegration, when these baskets go awry, it is best to cut losses quickly instead of hedging. Hedging would be terrible because you would be basically buying the top tick to hedge.

Also with this strategy you want to keep in mind the main reversal times and avoid them. 1:30-2:30am EST and 8:45 AM EST. The settings/setup that was outlined in here that was taken from FF was perfect, it took the basket time a few hours into Asian open where you typically get nice drift in the majors.

So are you guys cutting the basket loss if it hits a certain limit?

If I let the original version run, I get into these baskets that are big losses.

I don't understand the comment about P/L ratio between 1:3 to 1:4....so doesn't that mean for every 1 winner, you will have 3-4 losers. That's not very good, then you would need much larger TP than SL to even out, and make money. Am I interpreting this correctly?
