I've got no trades, no signals whatsoever on EUR/USD since I started testing the 60-5 version, yesterday.
I have several trades going. It is something on your end. The answers to your questions are in the archives. You will find them.

One of them would have been a winner if we implemented close at end of candle with an extreme spike in opposite direction signal or combination of what ever Evaluator feels best.

My Strategy two Demo seemed not to cut the position in half but I need more trades to look at this. I am messing with this Demo so It is getting some manual intervention till I know what is going on. I need to read through your code to get an Idea how this works. You by default have the break even on which would be following the rules if trade made it to 30. I did not put a target in because when I did it closed out my whole position at 30 and did not just cut my 2 lot position in half. But I have had only one chance to observe the trade go past 30. Strategy one holds a lot of promise I think. Might be better in all conditions. Having to have a larger position on for strategy 2 in my mind can magnify your loss with out enough bang for your $. I doubt it can make up those losses we will have as easily.

slowkey,

In my opinion.....I think an EA will have better preformance using Exit Strategy 1 or even a Signal to Signal strategy because it simply exits when price action is exhausted and will be retraced and the profit should be higher for the EA. Exit Strategy 2 is going to have less profit because it is more risky trade with a higher potential of getting the 2/2 of the order stopped out due to a retracement.

The reason Exit Strategy 2 was developed; was mostly for trader psycological purposes of satifying the GREED and FEAR instincts of the traders. Taking 1/2 a position at extreme satifys the FEAR instinct of loosing profit while the 2/2 remaining active keeps the trader in the game satisfying the GREED instinct. It is designed to keep the trader (human) calm and not let these market drivers force the human trader into impulse irrational decisions.

However, since EAs are pure mechanics....there is no FEAR and GREED it is just numbers and algorythms...so again, in my opinion, exit Strategy 1 will most likley produce better over all profit than using the other exit strategies.

Double check your tools-options-expert adviser setting and make sure only the 4 main boxes are checked. Look at your experts tab and make sure it says all the indicators are loading. Make sure you have them all in the indicator directory under under experts. Make sure they are named correctly. I think originally they had "for ea" or something at end but this is not how they are called in code.

Than what you can do is run the same period through in the visual mode of strategy tester and just read what is going on. You can also pick up on any setting that you may have missed there because if you are getting signals on both main indicators and no trades something must have been set wrong in Empty4. I have seen only one trade on eurusd since yesterday afternoon for a loss. I trade 19 pairs to give my self and abundance of opportunity to test the ea. But swiss pairs right now are in my dog house.
Thank you slowkey. I checked and it seems everything is ok. Anyway, the EA info on the chart seems complete with all the color of the indicators. It's just that the trading condition never coincided for HTF and LTF, I guess.

Meanwhile I also noticed that the indicators have slightly different outputs on the two brokers I'm testing the EA with. Except for the Extreme Indicator: on the 5 min. time frame one of the brokers has a lot of spikes, on the other one (Alpari UK) the spikes are rare. The Extreme Indicator shows extremely different results on the 5 min time frame, depending on the broker.

Just a quick note to confirm what was mentioned earlier - exit strategy 2 isn't closing half the trade when it should with the latest version, the first version did do this. I don't know MQL but will look tomorrow to see if I can spot why.

Cheers,
Dave.

The server has a rsi day filter on it for kicks. The laptop and server have a 50 stop loss and no target set. Both now trade strategy one.

Latest update in post 1.

I had a look at the Exit Strategy 2 code and spotted a couple of my usual copy/paste/edit bloops. Usual thingy; did the copy/paste but forgot the /edit bit.

I happened to look back at the code and noticed that it needed saving. The two of you who have just downloaded the latest had better re-download, just in case.

Hello and good morning to all,
now we all know why they are referred to as 'criminals'

Steve's suspicions are founded here i'm sure, and i would'nt be surprised when we get this EA profitable on demo, and then switch over to live, we get a different result over the same time span and same settings.
i am worried about that, but first things first.
will post results from evening to this morning now.
regards
george
