I have added the same changes to the live trading version - "Holy Graily Bob 'n Grid 1k Steve's live trading version" in post 1.

I had not noticed that live 1k did not compile because of a typo. Re download if you are one of the quick off the mark people and your version will not drag onto a chart.

Those of us using the stop order version and closing on a level 3 semafor signal have seen too many trades being sent. For example, the buy part of the hedge is profitable and there is a high semafor, then the bot not only sent a post-closure replacement buy grid, but also an additional sell stop grid. I have fixed this in V 1r in post 1. Possibly.

Make the changes to 1q yourselves by deleting these two lines: 3775 and 3743

Not sure how to make the changes yourselves? Read post 2.

Hold off before downloading 1r folks. I have worked out what to do about the situation I explained to Pat earlier. I am going to fix it now.

That took less time than I thought it would. I have adopted the solution of only closing/deleting trades that opened before the start of the current candle.

1s in post 1.

Closed of the trades for this week due potential friday reversals. Looking very good so far. GBPNZD kinda ruined the Party with triggering all sell stops. Gonna keep on testing upcoming two weeks. great Job Steve and cyberevil!

The Quantum indi in post one shows the hilo's that semafor initially identified, then deleted when the market continued in the same direction - for you interest and comparison with semafor. The bot does not use it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am thinking about this situation:
GBPJPYH4.png
The semafor signal on the previous candle has moved but was there at the open of the latest candle, so the bot closed the successful buy trades and sent a new buy stop grid.

There is a biiiiiiggggg gap between the open sell trades and the sell stops left behind. Ok, so a half-way decent retrace will allow us to close the sells at a lesser loss, banking the buy winnings minus the sell losings.

I am pondering deleting the outstanding sell stops and adding a fresh grid of sell stops.

These is what would happen, following an HGI Buy signal:
  • send the grid of stop orders and monitor the situation.
  • the market falls and fills a bunch of sell stops.
  • the market rises and fills a bunch of buy stops.
  • the market continues to rise and generates a senafor high signal, so the bot:
    • closes the successful market buys.
    • sends a fresh grid of buy stops, starting DistanceBetweenTradesPips above the market.
    • deletes any outstanding sell stops and then places a grid of sell stop trades, starting DistanceBetweenTradesPips below the market. A decent retrace will fill the stop orders and we reach breakeven on the sells that much quicker.
What do you guys think?

Hey Steve,

Great job on this EA, as always! I like your idea. It reminds me of a manual system I saw a few years ago for GBPUSD. Every day he would take the U.K. market open price and set three Buy Stops at 40 pip intervals above, and three sell stops at 40 pip intervals below. Long story short, if the market moved in his favor and all three buy or sell trades hit their TP, he would get rid of the old pending trades and set up a whole new grid using the TP point as the new starting point for the grid.

He was using one TP for all three trades in the same direction , which would tie in with you using semafor as a TP. The idea was that a few times a year the market would go rocketing in your favor a few hundred pips or more, and you would scoop up bundles of pips, more than making up for the ranging times.

Resetting the grid made it so that if the market did change direction, you weren't taking any more risk than an initial grid setup.

Thanks for everything you do!!  :)
