Spotdespot, your last template contains 4 occurences of NT TMA-CSS-SP. I don't understand which ones your are removing. Could you explain briefly how do you proceed & what TF are you using mainly : D1 or H4? If you visualize H1 charts, which indi you let on your chart ? Thanks in advance |

Hi effluvium, Basically I am looking at the D1 timeframe and that is all you need to start with. For this I use:
If you check the NT TMA-CSS-SP indi's in the template you should be able to find this one easily enough - just delete the others if you want to. The easiest way to identify it is to edit one of the NT TMA-CSS-SP indi's setting and go to the Vizualisation tab - this is the only one that is shown on ALL timeframes, so just check each one - if it isn't across all timeframes then just delete it if you don't want to see it. The other NT TMA-CSS-SP indi's show varying tmaPeriod settings for the currently selected timeframe and I use them if I am looking at when a retrace may have stopped or perhaps when it has started or if I just want a better view of the recent price action. They are not essential and although, as I mentioned previously, I do think there is value in the FAST one (magenta), then the medium (Blue) crossing the slow (grey) TMA it is far from an exact process and one I am working on. If you don't want to use them then just delete them. The template also has the red LWMA(21) in the indicator window, Baluda's DWMPivots indi and the NB 10.2 Slope Display v0.3 added too (I forgot to mention this one previously - just for general info and avoiding crosses when TMA D1 is close to zero - generally not as "positive" with momentum). Hopefully the you understand the "method" as it is pretty simple I think. As I mentioned this is for longer term trades and I have not worked out exactly how I plan to exit each trade yet. Currently the trades I have open are sitting at > 3500 pips floating. I closed the CADJPY long I had, for a 40 pips loss as I did not like the recent price action, the CAD is declining across the board and the TMA is approaching the MA. Please note my words of caution on previous posts. GL. |

hi spotdespot, since you are only using the TMA why don't you use my other TMA MTF indicator ? Is there any reason? or just convenience? Have you also tried to apply the TMA rules tester indicator? If yes what settings have you used? happy trading, NeoTrader - |

Hi Neo - the reason I haven't used the MTF one is that, on timeframes lower than D1, I overlay several of them BUT with different tmaPeriods and atrPeriods (although this is less important). So if you see the attached I have 4 of your NT TMA-CSS-SP v1.0.3 indi's on the chart. They are all TMA=True but with:
I haven't used your tester yet I'm afraid - it looks awesome but I just haven't had time. Thanks for all your work on this - without your contributions I would still be in the dark! Cheers, Dave. |

hi dave, You mean like this... Actually you have the same tma related parameters as in the css...anything else would be nonsense...If you want to set it to autotimeframe just use 0 as timeframe. The screenshot above are 4 MTFs overlayed with your different tma/atr settings...but actually you could try to do the same with multiple TFs at once... You're the only one that seems to play around with the tma and atr periods...I really like your thinking. Is the different scaling of the TMA lines any problem? The tester has also the tma/atr parameters available...so you can use different settings per rule you use...and you can put as much of the rules on the chart as you have place on your screen... You have rules for standard tma value(level), for tma angle and for tma&ma cross and also different combinations for pivots.... Innovative people like you make it worthwhile to release my indicators...I like your outside the box thinking...keep on the good work. happy trading, NeoTrader -[/quote] |

This is interesting (ThisBarLWMA - PrevBarLWMA) / ATR). This range -1.5 to +1.5 could be developed to enhance entries in the development of existing EAs based on TMA. For example calcuating the values of the the current bar as against the previous bar (current bar is +1.5025 and previous bar is 1.5000, resulting to -25 difference), where the slope is going down in this example, we can then use a filter creterion to filter our entries. If we set a slope valueChange of -20,the above example could be a good candidate for a Sell entry. Haggadah |

Thanks Neo - I realised I could use the MTF indi and do exactly the same (i.e. have 4 indi's on the same window) but I knew I couldn't use one indi and have it draw 4 lines for different tma/atr periods and timeframes. As I already had all my charts setup with a template that included the original NT TMA-CSS-SP I just left it as it was. I must admit I haven't played around with the MTF aspect at the moment - more because I am very happy with how it is going right now and I have a propensity to tinker too much!! The scaling can be an issue - visual backtesting isn't confidence inspiring as the relative line positions move depending on scale (zoom) and as you scroll but you get used to it. With the LWMA on there too it can look a bit odd when you scroll back! I have found that if I stick to a scale it is fine at the current point in time - hopefully that makes sense. As with most things, I didn't think of the changing tmaPeriod - I picked it up from something SlowKey was doing on his thread and then just went in a different direction with it. Thanks again, Dave. |

Thanks for all the information, but can someone help with this question.......when I have the MA on the chart as per Spotdespot if I slide the chart up and down the MA moves with it - is this right because it changes the location of the cross? |

Hi fire580. Yes - as I mentioned there is a scaling issue when you scroll back or even on some charts if you zoom in/out (check out UJ for an example of one that seems to suffer - for me anyway). It is a limitation with respect to visual back testing but if you realize that moving forward the cross happens as it should and doesn't change if you keep the scaling the same then it doesn't become too much of an issue any more - not for me anyway. I know some people like to have a lot of back testing but I am not sure it is possible here for a number of reasons - the most important to me being that there are some crosses I won't take as the cross occurs (or maybe not at all) - I gave an example with the NZDUSD cross a few posts back. The method isn't purely mechanical, even though it is simple, so it undoubtedly won't suit all. GL. Dave. |
