Also i know you dont watch lower time frames, but i am testing 15 minute and getting multiple wavy symbols both yellow and blue on the same candle when price is in a consolidation like Asia session. Is this normal, is this something that can be fixed so not so many wavy symbols on the same candle. one blue and one yellow would be preferred maximum. And sometime i get several wavy symbols then on the very next candle - 15 min - another set of the same color symbols. doesnt make since to me.
are you using OOTB?
in a ranging phase this can happen as the TMA slope will hover around the wavy signal values, this is on lower TF not to avoid.., this is clear signal for you not to trade this pair or to use the previsted H4 TF or D1 for better valutating the technical situation

Cheers :)

thnx Tommaso,
What is OOTB? There is no setting choice for OOTB in 16.04 that i can find.

:-)

OOTB means Out Of The Box => standard settings of the indicator

OOTB = out of the box means the standart settings it comes with , if you change nothing in the inputs...

Tomasso, further to my question regarding multiple wavy symbols, i have attached AUDUSD H1 and H4 of 2/5 and 2/6 screen shots. Note multiple yellow wavys. And i agree with your comment that wavys may show on consecutive candles in a consolidated market and that is o.k. But note multiple wavys at 12:00 and 16:00 on the H4, London session. If you cant take signals during the London session, then when can you take signals? I have no crystal ball telling me i will remain in a consolidation going forward. And i have not watched as the wavys form, only looking back. Before you ask these multiple wavys i have noted are after the last re-initialization of the HGI indi, so should be as they happen and not repainted. I also note that after re-initialization, no multiple wavys are printed, but of course this is expected as it curve fits as it is designed.

I was hoping to trade more like Bob mentioned - wavy to wavy, blue to enter, yellow to exit or something like that.

Awaiting your comments.

Bob, you also said earlier the indi should only print one wavy. Please add your comments.
thnx Ron

the wavies are not on the same candle in your pic they are on two consecutive candles ...
just set the input WavySize=1 and it will be probably easier for you..
Please ask further questions in that thread --> http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =88&t=3985

I do find when I trade 15min TF I do get extra wavy's (both yellow and blue) on the same candle, but it doesn't bother me too much as the simplest way to solve this is to have the chart of choice already saved as a template without HGI.V.16.04 attached. Then I simply re-attach HGI and presto single, clear wavy's. :yahoo:

This takes me a whole 6 seconds to perform... :D SIMPLICITY IS KEY!

I hope this helps those trading lower TFs

Kind regards

Tony
Tomy, you have better read the whole thread. when you reload any HGI indicators - 16.04 for sure, you are not getting the wavys as they happened. This reload causes a re-initialization - read your expert file at the bottom of your terminal. What you get is a repainting or curve fitting - the best possible situation and resulting symbols - of all HGI symbols. They are useless for defining a system. That is why everyone is saying just watch after re-initialization to form your system or trading plan. Ron

Post subject:  HGI the way I trade and Test/Learn

Hi,
wanted to share the way I trade HGI (D1) .....having read and practiced (live and other method see below ).

1. Wait for a blue wavy to form
2. enter on the blue wavy at with SL at wavy 0.5% Risk
3. re-enter on trend arrow in the direction of the existing trade on candle close with SL at trend arrow 0.5%
If Wavy and trend arrow together 1% risk - no quite the house but I get Bob's turn of phrase and further down the line may extend risk on these trades.

4. Re-enter pendings trades on RAD Arrow in the direction of the existing trade in the following way:

4a Measure Rad arrow dist from previous candle close and double it
place your Pending retracement trade here in dir of the trend with SL same distance again. In other words 1/3 1/3 1/3 Example previous close at 1.000 on a Down Trend Red Rad shows up at 0.950 Set Pending at 1.050 with SL at 1.100 at 0.25% risk.

4b Place breakout trade at same time below rad arrow in trend direction with SL at previous candle High (for shorts) or Low (for Longs) also at 0.25%

4. close Wavy Trend, Trend, Rad Retracements and Rad Breakout on yellow wavy

5. Yellow wavy Range Trade - after Range wavy wait for Range Arrow to fire off and consider a range trade in the direction of the arrow with SL below Range arrow (+spread and 10 pips) (0.5% Risk) and a potential TP on the last wavy on other side of price action. If RR insufficient leave for example in tight ranges. If it is taken then close if range signal on opposite side given. Note Range trades that end up being early entries into a trend are no bad thing. In other words leave open if you find yourself in a trend on the correct side.

Point of order I look if entry and SL are close e.g. wrong side of 000 numbers and may make adjustment. I also use TLs and fibs but lets not try and write a trading manual in a single post. I like Bob's quote from Tony Robbins on simplicity which resonates having seen the guy twice in London and having a problem in areas of trading with over analysing... anyway.

I run through 26 pairs each night looking at charts takes an hour. My experience of Sunday night set ups for Monday trades has lower success than Monday night through Thursday. Cannot check manage trades during day so moving towards using one of Steve's/Paul's MPTM/BMs to lockin profit and keep my shirt.

The above is not a trading plan - it does not discuss news items (which I look at) it does not discuss trade management or profit taking etc. It simply outlines some sets ups , entry points and MM for HGI.

comments appreciated so I can refine and continue further on HGI trading path

On the learning front apart (this all the posts) and from the live trading I run HG EA on strategy tester in visual mode and drop HGI indicator on to chart run at a slow speed and watch the candles / signals unfold scribble notes and learn - this encourages a trade from the right hand side of the chart instead of looking at history and hindsight ......... again comments

Jon,
can you expand a bit on your settings and the version of HGI you find best, and time frame you find best. Your method is pretty much the way i see best - wavy to wavy. NanningBob also said that is the way some time back. Can i suggest you also look for the big arrows - buy/sell - and load up when you find the rare event of wavy and big arrow on same or near same candle. thnx ron
