Put in a small basket on the following pairs yesterday late afternoon: USDCAD USDCHF AUDCAD AUDCHF AUDJPY AUDUSD GBPUSD GBPAUD NZDCHF All were winners except for USDCAD. It would have been a winner, but i like sleep too much. All set according to bobs rules. Total of 270 pips. If i would have set TP's or used EA to close basket I would have done better. Still working on entry and close but trend and range are rock solid. The other thing i have to learn is PATIENCE. I thank you Bob. Been following you for a while and it is well worth it. If i can go to sleep with trades open like that i have truly accomplished something with your help of course. TIA Lionsden |

Well you have to use some discretion. I am in a range area so I change to the top of the range or bottom of the range. That would have given you more room. One of the hardest things to teach and learn in this business is discretion. There are times when you say that rule wont fit here but what would? |

Thank you, I sleep with trades open all the time so that is how small I trade. I have those emergency stops out there but nothing close in. This is cool and i am enjoying this immensely. I am making almost as much money when I was trying to trade 8-10 cents per thousand and now I am trading 3-4 cents per thousand. I am exiting out of some trades earlier knowing the range section and when it ends. I used to hang onto range trades too long. So I am actually trading with less risk but still making the same amount of money as I was earlier in the year. I am thinking of cashing in this month's profit and taking my wife off somewhere as a surprise. Today has been a real good day and I am not even to the US open yet.  |

This is my annual Christmas speech. Somewhere during the 2nd week of December I find my best place to close all my trades and take off from trading for several weeks. I have never had a good December and many professional traders do that also. I find concentrating on my family for 3 or more weeks is just good policy. However, I will be curious to see if I can have a profitable December with 10.6 so ................ hmmmmm .............. see what the boss (wife) says. I wont be around as much after the 15th is what I am saying. I start back up again after the first when the market settles. So just letting you guys know. |

Bob: Thanks for the advice re: Christmas. Socially I'm strewn out so I'll probably still be trading. Will continue caution (small lots) GMS: I've been doing a lot of manual live backtesting, just naked trading though, not EDSEL yet. The first thing I learnt is that I could never make any profit with stops this way. I suggest having a search for Trade_Simulator_Installer.zip and backtesting loads. You learn a lot this way. Everything is sped up so it's not at all the same as live but you get everything quicker. Harry: Just to confirm, the dashboard is mostly the CSS info page in another format with the detailed entries added. Lucky it works for you. Try to find a way to contribute back if you can too. For example, I'm looking at highlighting padnoter's screenshot for my own notes and I might reshare it. There's usually something that can be done even if it's just documentation. Perhaps there are aspects of the system that you do understand that could be reworded to help dumbos like me to figure things out? Could you have a look your dashboard and circle some examples of buys, sells and also non signals and why they the signals are not valid? I'd suggest focussing on one type of trade at the moment to keep things simple. In fact, that would be a good idea for most people learning I think. padnoter: Thanks for that clarity. The dashboard isn't updating itself... I've no idea why. It's been on the same numbers since yesterday. Something's not quite right, I've tried on 2 different Empty4 installs, linux and normal Windows. Probably difficult to diagnose... any ideas on things I can try swapping around? Works for Harry and you but not for me. Symbols on my broker are for example "USDGBP" (without quotes). I think I get it. It's already been useful in helping me with my other system trades. I don't fully feel confident with it yet. It's coming. To simplify the understanding I'm taking it one step at a time so for me I'm focussing only on buying into an uptrend. To then get the detail I need to find the shortterm dip down and then wait for both idiot lights to go green. Here's an example of me waiting for that:  Naked trading gut feeling tells me that this is going to come back down toward the MA lines and probably slightly through the short term MA lines. When it gets to the MA lines I then start to look for the idiot lights and check if they're still green. If they are then we might have a buy signal, if not then continue the search. Is that right? padnoter: So this was a small and weak buy signal?  I'll record my desktop when I have access to broadband again with examples, probably a lot easier to communicate things |

Hi Jago, Not sure why it wouldn't update.. I guess it only updates as a tick price comes in on the chart you've put it.. I have mine on eurusd.. which ticks all the time in my day time & it updates fine. See if that helps? As for that last chart - "small and weak buy signal".. well I don't want to get into Bob's territory... but it looks like a "standard 10.4 buy trade" see Bob's post http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 455#p80455 - apart from the sto7 only just dipping below.. Maybe Bob will comment for you? Which pair is it btw? |
