You first have to convince me that you really need 26 different MA's. More is not always better. By incorporating 26 different MA-methods in the code, the code will become heavier (more memory and CPU is required to run it). So, there is a cost involved to have more options -- this cost needs to be justified. I have already added the TMA in the next version that will be released as soon as George believes it is ready for a greater audience. But I don't see the value of adding another 20+ MA-methods, just for the sake of having more options.

I was to enter this trade few pips after candle that closed below the MA Channel but I hesitated for 2 reasons:
1. there was a potential support @ 167.00 RN
2. all the entry rules have not been satisfied yet.

So I waited for break of that level to enter the trade. Discretion is a very important part of trading and this is something the computer will never have. The EA in testing never triggered any trade b/c the rules were not met and this is why a combination of manual and EA trading will be key to successful trading. On break of the RN and towards the close of the M5 candle, I pulled the trigger b/c JPY showed an overwhelming strength - strong against at least 4 pairs on M1, M5 & H1 with fresh cross on M1 & M5. GBP also showed weakness against at least 4 pairs on M1 & H1 with fresh cross on M1.

I knew this was likely to be a quick one and was targeting the next .75 RN but as soon as that candle showed sign of pulling back, I closed the trade for 12 pips leaving just about 5 pips on the table. So

* Yes I time my entry
* Yes I confirm with the dashboard. I will sometimes bend my rules to take trades where the M1 & M5 are in agreement or the M1 recycling in the direction of a HTF trend, and the M1 is showing overwhelming strength and weakness @ 5+ pairs. I always believe that trend resumption will start on the M1 and build into the M5 and upwards, so this explains why I anticipate price action and can sometimes enter early with reduced risk
* SL is on the opposite side of the MA Channel or entry candle to a maximum of 20 pips (+5 sometimes) and sometimes no SL, but generally no TP because I am trading strength and weakness, and trust my edge
* Signal is based on MA Single Line cross
* And result is based on 5 trades for today as enclosed and 6 for last Friday.

Hi Rene/George,

1. Is it a good idea to develop two indicators which send out alerts before you code the EA, sort of a research tools: One to send out alerts on Stoploss (or coded in the existing indicator itself) and another to alert on Exit itself by generating opposite signal rather than based on any TP.

After using these two for research/backtesting/forward testing , ideally an EA can be finalised.

2. can we develop another research/backtesting/forward testing tool to catch the tactics employed by market-makers to move the market.

I don't believe the market moves randomly. There is some pattern to the moves. Unlike stocks, which reward investors by dividends at least, what is there for the currencies (now that the interest rates have remained negligible for past 8 years and will remain negligible for another 10 years at least if we are to follow Japan's 20 years record) to deliver, other than speculative profits, to investors. Market makers have to play an active role to keep momentum in the market despite the distortions caused by HTFs. They also employ HTFs to put warring HTFs at bay.

As retail traders, we have to start somewhere with whatever meager resources we have in order to find the trending days.

Ideas have to come from all real traders, and you have to figure out what is technically feasible or not.
15 years data is available on unlimited trial accounts of fxOanda for backtesting. Anyway, I am not a fan of backtesting.

My idea for determing trending time (for positional trading) is thus:

Divide one year in 36 fortnights , find out major economic events which act as triggers to push or pullback trends, determine why some triggers don't work as anticipated, quantify them and put a system around it.

Gilead, All u need is the 35 LWMA. Devon tried to convince that TMA is better so I put the 14 TMA on also.

turns out if you shift the TMA it its is the same.....

I just use 1M (start of up/down),5M to trade and 15M/60M for direction confirmation...All at 35LWMA except 60 (8 LWMA)

1. Method for Calculation: MA Single Line ?
2. M1, M5, M15 = 35 LWMA - (Close Price ?) both Slow and Fast MA ? And M60?
3. Look Back Minutes ?
4. Highlight Minutes ?
5. Filters? If yes, what settings for both?

Good evening, and good morning or greetings friends, depending on where you reside in this global village. Trust everyone is doing well and trading is going great too.

Rene and I have been working behind the scene and testing the EA for the Multi Currency MTF MA Dashboard. I have had mixed results and Rene has had some great results, but the potential is very great.

We will release the EA for testing and feedback, so we can all benefit greatly from Rene's work of genius and benevolence. So watch out for him with the details :)
