R1 would be new high so I have taken profit just below that level. If it retraces to WMP after making new high, I will be in again.Gertje wrote:I'm aiming for R1 on this one.taggie11 wrote:Taken my two levels on AUDCAD for nice profit. Will look for retrace to take long again.

Note: The 20 and 80 mark on the RSI indicator are standard number provided with the RSI indicator and not something that bob has specifically added or refers to in anything i have read....
I draw your attention to page 14 of Bobs doco, re RSI
"Also inside these indicators is the RSI 2 (Relative Strength Index); which gives you a signal to start setting your pending orders. It looks like this and is the gold colored lines. When put inside the slope indicators it flattens out at the top and the bottom and gives you the signal that you have a dip in the UT. See # 1-5 below. So when price is above the 240 you are looking to enter buys, the RSI 2 signals to set your pending orders and the AO confirms your entrances and warns you to exit. See the light blue areas numbered 1-5 below."
Note the "flattens out at the top and bottom" comment
The object of the RSI flattending out (and i really believe this) is the keep you out of trades that you don't want to be in....I give you a couple of examples where trades may/have been taken with a touch of the 0 or 100 lines....
USDCFH, I bet some people have been in this 14 hours and are staring at it right now...I'm not, as RSI is telling me there is more selling....Now the trade could work out, but it could still go lower providng a better entry....
Another example is EURUSD, i know a bunch of people have tried to short this over the last ten days to two week...It's going nowhere....
Now i know you will find a bunch of example of trades I'm missing, but that is not the point, because a missed trade cannot hurt me....
I know i bang on about entries, RSI this RSI that, but the initial entry is the most important and you want it to move..So you want the best trades with the best chance of a solid move in the right direction....so i'm looking for trades that from what best i can tell are completely oversold or brought.....you want to make sure it move at least until you can add another position or set to break even, this way you are covered from the market, you cant be hurt, a free trade....
If you are happy to enter at anywhere between 80 and 100 or 0 and 20, then you are saying "i'm happy for this trade to go into DD for a period of time before it start to move in my direction".....Now with 4H charts that is a huge risk, just like the USDCHF that people have been if for 14 hours and still does not look like going positive soon...
I want to be sure with the tools i have available to me (or provided as part of the 10.4 template) that i have ensured the retracement is complete....Is over 80 or below 20 comprehensive enough...? for me no....do i miss trades yes....am i OK with that yes...!
Am i in the USDCHF trade no, have i tried to short Euro over the last week and a bit, no...am i ok with that yes...
I apologies in advance if i jack anybody off....
Regards Wiggy
Hmmmm…… seems to me u are quite perfectionist. U are not wrong, in fact, very desirable, but if you are so stringent, then u have to wait and wait and wait…………zzzzzzz…….. for the most desirable setup. I can’t tolerate, hahahhaha.
Some of these trades have very extreme RSI. Some were at 99 point something, close to being perfect 100.
I look at setups in totality. If the set up looks nice, I can compromise a bit on the rsi reading. Eg. If it is nearby 240ma, my SL is smaller, if RSI is at 98 something, it’s ok for me, I can tolerate a bit of temporary drawdown (as long as the trade does not go bad). U know it is very very difficult to time perfectly until totally no drawdown even if we babysit all the while.
Ya, UsdChf looks not good now. Fortunately I was not in as I am prejudiced against this pair.

Anybody think the EurUsd might try to make a run back at the 240?

I beg to differ.
I made 8 trades over the last 2 weeks, all profitted.
[EDIT] Should be 6 trades, I added to the first listed to change lots from 0.02 to 0.03
We have a different view on the entry's, but as long as one sticks to the pendings, the better entrance is still available. Just add a pending and change the former one if needed.
2 x EURUSD trades in the last ten days and although the trade on 8th the was a good 21 pip trade, you have to admit it carries some risk.....I also think it was more a pivot bounce trade that a 10.4 trade, as a 10.4 trade would have had you set pending at the mid pivot level....you seem to enter right when RSI tops out or turns....
So, do you think 21 pips for that risk is ideal...?
It also appears the trades were heavily managed
Over the last ten days (same period) i entered EG after RSI signal (pinned) on the 5th and break of pivot on the 7th and that trade is +64 and then a second position at mid pivot on the 8th, this trade is currently +20 = 84pip
Very little management required...

Believe me I'm far from a perfectionist....
However i believe there are many many trades that fit the 10.4 very well and we don't need to make something fit.....Remember, we want pair that are trending and if we get in at the limit (end) of a retrace, then it just a matter of hanging onto the trade as long as possible...
Remember Bob mentioned that any give pair changes directions (trend change) 4 times a year....We want to ride this change of direction as long as possible....when it changes, we go the other way with it....

Re: 10.4 A Complete System
Only good trade I had was AUD/CAD, made two levels to R1. Now I have 7 pairs in the red. Guess that is called trading.
Do any of you close out a loosing trade if the AO turns back against you? Or do you wait for the 240?

Chris, post one of your DD trades charts and lets discuss...Chris wrote:Only good trade I had was AUD/CAD, made two levels to R1. Now I have 7 pairs in the red. Guess that is called trading.

Re: 10.4 A Complete System
Hard week for trend following systems. USD index is clearly overbought and EUR and GBP seem have no strenght to change things.
I´m moving to 10.3 until next week.

Re: 10.4 A Complete System
I am beginning to like the RSI 2 the best of the three indis we use. I also like the concept of RSI 2 with a pinning candle. That is a good filter. Will spend more time on that thought in the future. Right now I ticked at the gbp/jpy which moved 50+ pips in my favor and missed my TP by 5 pips. It then turned around and hit my short SL at around 25 pips. Oh well. Dang. Closed out the gbp/cad and gbp/usd for very small profits. Trader Jack's pinnings have me spooked for now. If they turn out to be good signals I wll be glad. If they turn out to be false I will eat some fox for lunch tomorrow.

Re: 10.4 A Complete System
Bob,
Like with the AUDJPY right now, the distance between the 2 levels is 130pips. It takes a whole lot of effort to travel that far, adding another level and TP at the next.
Would you consider entering the 2nd level at the halfwaypoint between MR1 and R1?
Thanks in advance for your reply!
