Excellent. My only question here is: Is that how you will be trading live too with real money? i.e with start fund $50,000 and lot size 0.5.
Sorry - I don't get your point?
My only point is trade demo as if it is real account so lot size to be what you would trade with real money. Else, this will just be fun and play with no real learning and emotion control exercise, which are essential as a trader.

Spot,

i think your idea of using mptm for 200pips global closure is great! do u mind sharing more details?

what stoploss are you using for global closure? my demo on d1 timeframe started last friday trading almost ootb settings for both difference n level hit almost 3000pips floating in the last 5 days but has since retraced to 2500pips...so using the global close would have probably secured more pips. at least it gives a nice boost to account balance without having to watch it surrender huge floating gains.

for level, i used 0.33 and for difference 0.68 , on daily, which triggered last friday...its up bigtime...about 1800pips..that is about 1200pips for difference n 600pips for level. on lower timeframes, i simply had massive losses on those parameters because the trend just kept chopping n changing as expected. if we use a pivot filter, i believe the losses will be much smaller on lower time frames since we only take trades that are with the trend.

yeah Paul about this " My focus now is trading those baskets (Up 125 pips already for the day.)"
what basket are you referring to? do u mean you are trading the baluda ea on daily chart as a basket trader along with mptm basket management?
do u mind sharing how u go about doing that? there seems to be some merit in that idea.
Hi quanttraderjoe

I think Paul may have been refering to the 10.2NB baskets as discovered by Shelley and then refined and developed by Jemook. Currently their are some EA's and I think Steve is close to releasing one with Jemooks basket trade open and close spec's.

Just quickly Ted – there is an EA which Steve has developed based on my specs but really I think it's a 10.2a + basket EA, it's not exactly how I trade in my thread. Anyway you can check it out here:

Ted,

appreciate your reply, i have tried the BJSPB EA, its a great concept but so far my demo hasnt had much success. i had the freezing issue in the earlier version, just put the latest version on demo.

Hi Joe - not my idea with the 200 pip global closure - I think harry45 came up with it and I thought I'd try it out. All I did was set MPTM to have 200 pip global closure and nothing else.

I think one area of this EA that needs to be worked out is the risk as it is impossible to quantify at the moment. I actually just left it to see what would happen - as it has the inbuilt closure when the level gets below 0.3/-0.3 but in hindsight I just don't think that works.

The main reason I don't think it works is the same reason that the thresholds for the "trade by difference" method need tweaking. In this case the trades should close when the difference between the currency strengths falls below a certain level - the actual strengths are not relevant - only the relative strengths.

You also can't really set a global basket SL as the SL would be hit and another basket would open.

I am not sure of the answer here yet - unless Paul or Steve are kind enough and have the time to amend the way the trade by difference method works. I think this EA could be fantastic - the relative currency strength concept (difference), when used with the D1 TMA HAS to work imo.

Cheers,
Dave.

Hey Harry,

Do you have UseStartingTreshold set to true ?

Harry - that looks fine. You have thresholds set and the EA has to wait until the level for those pairs to go below those thresholds before it will look at the difference. IN demo it will have gone beyond those thresholds and once it has it doesn't reset until it passes back below the close threshold.
