Bob, the calculation of Al's TMA Fastline and TMA true are different and will never match.... There is an explanation somewhere on FF why and how - I will try and locate it tomorrow... Same as Al, I never could get TMA true to work for me and also use FastLine TMA if & when I apply it..... If you either post or PM me the mq4 of the "true" indicator you are presently using, I make the necessary changes for you ... Cheers / Mop |

After looking at 4 different TMAs Als is the one I chose to test. Mainly because I trust him and his experience. I still dont have a handle on his 4 TMA thing yet but at some point I will get there. I am very much a one thing at a time person so first up was making a TMA work on the 4H that seemed also to work within my system or better me. So that is where I will start. Basically I see this thing getting me into better position trade wise. Before if I miss a spot I would just reenter a 2nd level and get it there. TMA should decrease that part of my trading. ANYWAY fast AL here we come. |

I would prefer you guys to keep up the TMA thing here so we all can learn. Frankly I would like to see more input from others and I take more of a back seat. I understand what AL is saying. Keeping up with a thread year after year can be draining. I have always said my systems can be combined with what you already use and know so .......... we see how it goes. |

Well I am going to trade a separate account using the daily but stay with the 4H here in my main account. I want to see what it would be like to look at charts once a day, place any trades and leave them run. I wonder if I can discipline my self to leave them alone. I dont know how guys can watch a trade go 70 pips tothe good and back up to 20 then go to 100 and then back to 50 and then go to 150 and back up to 75 and so one. Dang I cant stand to watch a winning trade go back smaller again but thats what those high end chart traders do. Then it goes to 600 and backs up to 400 and then ............... sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh  |

Hi Bob, Isn't the difference between these 2 tmas - one smooths and one keeps the end of bar points - a bit like the css ignoreFuture=True/False ? They both give exactly the same current (RHS) reading. I watched a few different tmas (with the same settings) on a 1min chart on Friday - and this was what I found. The same current readings in realtime, but historically the smoother (I hate to use the word "repaint" for fear of the wrath of bob!) ones change as more data appears. So I found for a realtime/current read they are all the same, but for a look at a historical chart the rougher/jaggier ones were more accurate as to what value you would have seen in the past.
