G'day all, unfortunately I missed this trade as I have been having Internet problems all day... But I wanted to post this just to show how early Bob's HGI 16.04 really is! It let me know on the 5min XAUUSD (Gold) chart with the classic BLUE Wavy+Downtrend RED arrow 1 hour before the actual London Open Engulfing candle, which had another Downtrend RED arrow to reinforce the approaching downtrend. Classic breakout strategy! If my Internet was working I would have taken the trade at engulfing candle close and could have made +99 pips... There's always tomorrow...hehe Cheers Tony |

Hi Again. The strategy looks interesting. A few more questions if I may: 1') How did you establish the 3% SL level. Seems high. I know you said you close the position if you get a counter signal but nonetheless, on a really bad day (unexpected news etc) you could get up to 12 or 13 losing trades of the 20 and suddenly you are down 40%. 2) Is today the first day you have traded it? 3) Have you looked at the 16.04 1hr version. I know its a beta version but Bob said he was testing it on 15min TF? 4) In your first post on it you said you use the green wave AND trend arrow but above you say you use the green wave. I assume the first post was correct? Many thanks |

1. 3% is a total for all the positions. Yes it is high, but is a safety SL. I may not let all the positions go that far. I would aim for RR 1:1. 2. Yes 3. No. 4. Green wavies OR trend arrows. The trend arrows do not appear that often. I don't refresh my charts. |

Hi Actually I do not use a Empty4 broker for trading indices and stocks, I use interactive brokers. I had an account with Alpari UK for forex - and sadly we know what has happened there (or rather we still don’t as no money has come back). I also have smaller forex accounts with Hotforex and Hanseatic Brokerhouse in Hamburg. Both do index CFDs and stocks - Hanseatic covers a great many stocks and indices and is regulated by the German Authorities. Their problem is that their spreads suck while so far my experience with Hotforex has been very good. The only thing I do not like about them is that they are not regulated in a major jurisdiction. I have been burnt twice now with brokers going under so I trade size only with Interacative. They are really good, excellent spreads and prices and you can literally trade everything through them. However they have terrible charting and a crappy platform. It seems one cannot have it all. |

Thanks for that. Does the EA that you use calculate the 3% for all positions for you or do you do that manually? 3% on all is fine. You could probably cut the number of positions by taking out the closely correlated pairs. Might make it slightly more manageable. I used to trade a similar strategy using the London open. If it went against me, I would use a one-time martingale. So I would trade 1 lot and if it went wrong I would reverse and use 2. I stopped there as martingales are deadly. It went quite well but I stopped trading it as it took too much time to monitor and I went onto higher TFs but given the nature of markets and that they change constantly, I might give it another go using HGI and PA. |
