You need to remember: whatever you can make big money at you can also lose big money at. Unless you have the fundamental down for sure this type of event only happens 1-3 times a year. Last year it was the JPY move in the spring. The Euro had two crashes one in with Greece and the other with Crete/Cypress. You know those kind of events are happening go for it. Otherwise you can watch your big profit disappear quickly with 10 trades going at one time. Starting at .5 a pip and end up playing 5.00 a pip hmmmmmmmmm think about that one. Yes I did my own millipede type trade on the JPY last year and racked up 10K pips in one week but you know I was on top of that thing. You try that with out a big fundamental and .................... well ........................... 5.00 a pip or 4.00 a pip or ............. can add up quickly and make a profit disappear within hours to minutes. Think about it your watching a retrace and you are at 4.50 a pip and you cant wait for that last one to go into place and for some reason it never comes and that big profit is gone. Thats a lot of work down the drain. |

Bob Hear what you are saying and completely agree. BUT it was a practical trading question since I like to place trades as three's or fives - but to do this I have to place three or more separate trades whereas I would like to place one trade, with two to five pendings - these I would drag and move on screen to take account of MSTs, swing H/L, etc. Even the converse would be good - one trade but three TPs, which again can be drag/moved on screen. Anyone got anything like this??? Cheers Doc |

Al Am liking this system of yours to be added to NBs - the more I learn the more I can "feel" these waves. The TMA system of yours seems to capture this. Have loaded on a demo to see how it goes. Can you please post your bar time counter and pivot indis from your tpl. Cheers Doc |

Well, I failed to mention that you bring your stop down with every new trade. So for example, if in your initial trade you have a stop of 200 pips, when opening the second trade you would bring the first stop loss to 150. Then to 100 with the third trade, then 50 and so on... The idea is that you are limiting your loss and you play on with house money. If it fails, you lose what you bet initially. If you win, you can win big. Anyway, with 10.6 you can probably make more money with in and out trades so you are probably correct... |

Here is the bar time. The pivot indis are Bob´s 10.6 but set to process only one bar, so it doesn´t run the lines across the screen. |

Hi Al, I’m sure that I will be speaking for many in this forum if I say that you are very welcome. I’d seen quite a bit of you on FF but I’ve not taken a close look at any of your posts until now. This MTF TMA as you describe it looks to me like a whole new world in forex that, to say the least, is looking extremely mouth-watering. And thank you for being so willing to open it up by taking pains to explain it. Here are a few questions, please, regarding the 50 Bars Back line in relation to the quoted post. a. Is it always the case that, to use it, you compare the current price with the rough average of the 35 bars to its right as opposed to those beyond the 36th? b. If EU rises to 1.39, how does, that facilitate the H4 band continuing down with the same slope? c. In one or two other posts, you spoke of the H4 crossing the D1 and then moving across to the opposite D1 line. In your experience, how often does this happen? Is this always (well… nearly always – this is forex we are talking here!!!) to be expected even in a ranging market such as we have now? d. All the bands have their TMA periods set to 50 and so can be used with the 50 Bars Back line. Does that mean the 60 and the 240 are, in the meantime, redundant? If so, what is their use on the chart? In short, I would be grateful if you would explain a little further on the use of this 50 Bars Back line. Thank you. |

Thanks. You are correct, it is mouth watering. I can´t trade without MTF TMAs anymore. It is a major advantage to use them. a- No. I mentioned 35 bars because I was referring to the EurUsd chart I posted which just happened to have 35 bars before the major drop. b- The TMA band is 50 period, which means that the average is comprised of the last 50 bars. Each new bar that closes, is substituted in the average by the one signaled by the 50 Bars Back line, so as prices rise, like the upcoming 35 bars I mentioned, the upcoming bars would also need to rise to keep the slope consistent. If as is happening today, the old 50 bars back candles rise but the new bars drop, the slope will become steeper. For example, EurUsd had a -0.29 slope when I posted the chart this morning. Now the value has become -0.36 because the new bars dropped more than the old ones. c- That is the biorhythm of the market. The H4 TMA always cycles from extreme to extreme inside the D1 TMA. Well, sometimes it takes longer to turn and sometimes it doesn´t quite make it to the top, but most of the time it does. Load the H4, D1 and W1 TMAs on your chart and zoom out all you can. You will be amazed at the regular ups and down of each TMA inside the longer TF one.The H4 TMA also oscillates inside the H4, but in a more irregular way. It still works though. I use the H1 to pinpoint the entry. The H4 is at the extreme and turns, but I wait till the H1 also turns before I enter the trade. Another intering thing is that each pair has it´s own quirks and personality in these cycles. Look at each one zoomed out and you will see the differences over time. d- The 60 and the 240 are simply a different way of showing the same cycles. The 60 expands away from the 240 and then contracts towards the 240. I call this process "Breathing". Before I found MTF TMAs, I used to use two averages, 50 and 200 and now 60 and 240 because Bob prefers them. I like to look at them because I have years of experience analyzing the relationship between the two averages. Also, the 60 Bars Back and the 240 Bars Back indis work in the same way to predict what the averages should do. TMA gives you a clearer picture but the averages work just as well. |

My reference to the 60 and the 240 was actually to the 60 Bars Back and the 240 Bars Back indis, not the MAs! Thanks so much for your explanation. It's just that much clearer now. |

To explain b- above a little more clearly, If the TMA was composed of a Simple MA of the close, and the 50th bar has a value of 1.38 and the new bar substituting it also has a value of 1.38, the total sum of closes of the 50 bars divided by 50, would be identical and the TMA would move sideways. BUT the TMA is a Triple Exponential MA, which gives a lot more value to the last bar than to the 50th bar, thus making the TMA go down when subtituted by a bar of equal value IF price is under the centerline as is in the case of EurUsd right now. To simplify all of this, if the upcoming bars replicate the bars to the right of the 50 Bars Back indi, the TMA will more or less continue the slope it has. If the new bars are lower, the Slope will steepen. If the new bars are higher, the slope will decrease. This is the same for uptrends, of course... |

This makes it even clearer still. Just realizing I didn't know what TMA actually stood for..ha ha!!!!! Thank you so much, Al. |
