Attached is the modified version that includes W1 levels;
they replace the M15 levels, which were not used.

I also moved the DaysBack input on the top of the setttings.

You might want to increase it to something like 200 to display W1 levels.

Using your indicator, which is a wonderful tool, I sometimes would like to be able to merge two zones, without increasing the external buffer zones. eg GBPCAD S2 (1.56728 - 1.56828) and S1 (1.56907 - 1.57007) merged to S1 (1.56728 -1.57007), by defining a minimal distance between the two original R/S levels. You think that could be done?

Is there a way to backtest / optimize this incomparablebob thingy?
I tried first in non-visual mode and after some unsuccessful attempts figured out from the code that the EA uses the objects created by the SR indi, but it doesn't contain a reference to the indi itself, meaning it is not added to the test chart by the MT strat. tester.

So what I tried is to launch in visual mode and manually attach the SR indi. It seemed to be working, at least it started to trade nicely and veeeery slooooowly (visual mode rules), pulling down the account by 1000 USD in 2 months, at which point in time I shut it down. :? Guess this is not why everyone is so enthusiastic about this EA, so I must be doing something wrong.

Can someone shed some light how, if at all, this could be done?

One of the things I really, really hate is when someone cannot be assed to read post 1 in my threads properly. I prepare them with some care.

Which bit of this do you not get?
"The Incomparable Bob
TIB works with the lines drawn on your chart by sq's indi. You must have it on your chart for the EA to work."

Even the dimmest should be able to divine from this that if an EA needs the indi on the chart to work properly, then it is required in backtesting also.

Mind you, someone too thick to recognise this is probably stupid enough to also believe that backtesting in Strategy Tester has some validity. This is a laughable idea. As for optimising - that is for crooks peddling their pathetic $99 EA's on Ebay.

If this is the best you can do as a 'contribution' here, then go away and leave the grown-ups alone. The idea that there is not much enthusiasm about this EA because it is slow in backtesting just about sums up the risible level of your understanding. Even an idiot should grasp that the lack of enthusiasm has a much more significant reason.

Think twice before responding, and remember I am an irritated PCA. If you want a future here in this forum, your best interests are served by staying quiet, doing some reading and some learning.

Steve, if you ever get bored with coding and need another outlet you could always consider compiling a thesaurus of insulting phraseology. I've no doubt it would be a definitive work!

I've been testing this for a couple of months with up & down results using the Grabit Bob (default) version, however last month decided to demo test TrendyBob and I have had much more consistent results.

After almost a month the demo account is up a tad over 2% on a $5000 account trading 0.01 lots

I also have a tiny, play, Live Account where I have traded a combination of TIB (default version) and TrendyBob. This account is up 87% for the month

In the attached graph you will see for pretty much the first half of the month I was using the default version with results similar to my demo, I would make some good ground then TIB would give it back and more, then I would go up again. When the results were more consistent on my TrendyBob demo, I decided to replace the default with Trendy on my live account. I think from around the 89 trade mark is where I switched to TrendyBob.

TrendyBob had a great day on Friday with me closing over $50 in profit for the day, which I basically manually closed in 2 baskets when profits were over $25. This prompted me to add MPTM and use Global Trade Closure feature to close all trades at $25 profit.

With that being said, on the FF Nanningbob 10.1 thread it seems that Bob was trading his CTR method for the last few weeks, which would probably be why the default TIB didn't do much. I am thinking about using Steve's MTF RSI indicator to check whether a pair is ranging or trending.
Also, I haven't really read over the CTR thread yet, but an EA for that would be good if possible ;)

Just a bit further to this to perhaps provide some encouragement to others to keep tweaking/testing, in terms of pips won (rather than a % of account which is only relevant if you're trading the same size account/lots etc)

my demo account is up 1034 pips this month

and my live account is up 863 pips this month
