Thanks for your reply!

I forgot to say something... I've been backtesting via the Strategy Tester. I know it's not 100% accurate but it prints the signals as they were in real time.... no?

Then, I should assume that is impossible to read the "real not-repainted" value of the TMA?
no the strategytester is worthless...

nooouuu :arrrg: :arrrg:

thank you very much Tommasso! Now I know what ideas can be discarded :D
Regards!

And here is where I explain why stratergytester is worthless generically, even before considering the realities of HGI.

a trend arrow can only be drawed if a trend is recognized..this will mostly not be possible at a candle start
HGB questions please ask there ---> http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =87&t=3979
Hello Milanesse. I did not mean that I wanted the arrows to appear at the exact turning point of the trend. What I meant was, for example right now it is 6.30 am. I am looking at Aud/usd chart and there is no fat arrow, there is only a rad buy. What is happening is if I check the chart tomorrow, Friday, I might see that a fat arrow has appeared on today's, Thursday, chart, which was not there when I was looking at the chart "yesterday", if you get what I mean, and so I missed the trend buy signal(not the trend)(I could still have entered the trend using other signals, but that trend arrow was not appearing at the time when it was supposed to appear). Do you have any idea what is causing this?

Hi Bob and fellow traders,

Thank you for sharing your system and knowledge! It's incredible that somebody is working so hard that he still wants to share his system with the world. :uff: (Not only Bob of course…)

It's great to see that the system works for so many people. However, I've been trying the HGI system for two weeks now, but it doesn't seem to work for me properly. It's not that I'm losing a lot of pips but making more is the problem.

When I sell or buy after a big arrow the price is coming back to the big arrow, almost every time, instead of moving away from it. Am I missing something here or is it just bad luck? The idea of selling or buying with a big arrow and than wait for the waves or an opposite arrow doesn't seems to be so hard..

Maybe someone can help me out or point me in the right direction? I must admit that my Dll imports was turned off. I'm not sure if that is a major problem.

I did read the complete thread including the pdf file.

Many thanks in advance!!!

cheers

Orange

Thanks
Empty4 sound files are located in the Sounds folder in your Empty4 install directory. You can put your own sound files in there. Some people go to great lengths customising their own sound alerts using voice, and even doing it for each individual pair.

Just put the name of the wav file (e.g. alert.wav) in the appropriate sound parameter field in HGI, no need to put the entire path.

I'm relatively new to Empty4 myself but what I found is the "Alert" under Tools/Options/Events will overide (or at least interfere with) your HGI sound alerts. I got around that by disabling those general alerts under Tools/Options, because I don't need any of them (I use Empty4 just for analysis, not trading). There doesn't appear to be a way to disable individual alerts under Tools/Options. I tried using a slient wav file, but that still interferes with the alerts sound you have in HGI.

Anyway, the above is what I found, hope it helps.

Post subject:  Alerts only for those pairs where you have a position?

Someone asked a question about alert sounds and being new to Empty4 I answered that as best I could, but it got me thinking about another related issue.

I'm trading just the H4 with HGI and due to other commitments I'm only trading at the close of the bar, I only have to check the charts every 4 hours. I've come to accept that this leads to missing out on a great deal of the move in many instances, sometimes the entire move. So I'm going to try as best I can to get in and out of positions as the signal occurs.

I'm trading just the trend arrows and the RADs. Entry is easy, just set up an alert for the trend arrows, no alert needed for the RADs as entry for those is generally on the retrace and checking the charts at bar close will pick that up.

Exits are the yellow waves and opposite range arrows. There are a lot more of those symbols then there are trend arrows. I'd like to set up alerts for yellow waves and range arrows but I only want to be alerted for those pairs where I currently have a position. I do not know if this is possible or not, but I think it would certainly be very useful.

Thoughts anyone, particularly Tommaso? I know, it's like asking for the moon, but maybe it's easily achieved, I just don't know.

Would it be possible to make an alert when the trend arrow goes away? Something like "conditions have changed" .... That way if you have set up a pending trade that is entered then starts going the wrong way you could possibly exit with a small loss. I like using the push alerts - for the trend arrows - cool stuff!

Post subject:  HGI for beginners...initial results

Hello Steve and group,

I am a long time follower of Nanningbob, from version 3.0 thru 10.3 and after a year long hiatus from forex, I am back into the scene.
I set up HGI and have been doing manual trades, 4H timeframe only, and using 0.01 lots. using FXCM (when Cowboy IBFX closed down). I started with USD 300 account to prove the system. It works! After a couple of false starts from Dec 2014, I started with a 'balance' of USD278 (paper trade acct for testing), and as of Jan 16, I am sitting just over USD $400.
Please find attached my trades beginning Jan 2015, which is when I began to seriously trade per the signals of the HGI indicator. (Many thanks to those who contributed to this indicator! I would love to look at the code and see the logic behind it. :) ).
I check early AM 7-8 AM east coast US time. then between 12 noon and 2 PM, then between 6PM and 9PM at night. Based on the signals, I will set up pending trades, or take immediate entry. I use no SL and use TP of 30 pips. sometimes, when the trade is not moving, I will adjust TP to 20 pips. If the move goes against me, or if the HGI gives wavy or opposite trade signals after I have entered one direction, I will close all pending trades and use increasing lot sizes to recover. The goal is to just break even, and get out. I use the I BREAKEVEN indicator to help me determine breakeven pricing.
I use the CSS 12 pair indicator for reference, on 4H or Daily
Please find attached my results for the first two weeks of January 2015. this is the best set of results that I have ever had in the years trading FX. I look forward to many successful pips using this system!

What logic does HGI use to draw the big trend arrows?
