This buy trade was opened and closed within seconds, don't know why ?

Please see charts.
I think the wavy lines killed that trade (if you have that option enabled)
It would be better if the trade will not be opened because of the opposite wavy line to save commission and spread.
It's possible the signal came before the wavy lines(?)
I have a several open and close trades.and for the most part I think they are due to closing signals soon after a trade signal. Its frustrating but it's the nature of the beast. my laptop can't hamdle it but maybe try reducing the refresh rate on the signals. It may make things worse or it may make them better :?

It is possible that the wavy line came after the signal. However, I did have trades opened in this second and closed in the following second. I don't think the EA is coded to read the indicator every second.

No, your right. I think it is coded to refresh signals every 60 second (same as HGI). To be honest my rapid closures have been within the minute as well. Maybe it was wishful thinking that caused me to dismiss it to opposite signals ;) Oh well, still early days yet and it's been an amazing ride. Many more to come I think :cheer:

V 1j is in post 1.

The function that calculates whether HGB should close a trade includes a test for wavy range start lines, and closes Trend and RAD trades if it finds one. There was no equivalent filter in the trade sending function. This means it is possible for HGB to spot a trading opportunity, yell, "Yippee. Let's party." and trade. The next time it reads HGI, it spots a wavy range line and closes the trade.

V 1j has a wavy line filter.

The wavy line part of HGI is the hardest to understand. Members who were in at the start og HGB's development will recall that I misunderstood it at the start.

Here is my understanding of what the wavy lines tell us, and I ask Tommaso or Denis to correct any misunderstanding:
  • The wavy lines are nothing to do with trade direction.
  • They tell us whether the market is ranging or not i.e. TMA Slope is within the -0.4 to +0.4 range.
  • High wavy lines tell as that the market has just entered a range and so Trend and RAD trades should be closed.
  • Low wavy lines tell us that the market has exited the TMA range values and we should be looking for Trend and RAD trades.
Another thing to bear in mind folks is this: the conditions that caused TMA to draw a signal can change during the course of a candle. Early incarnations of HGI deleted these signals if conditions changed and this caused confusion.

HGI now leaves the signals in place even though the conditions that led to them being drawn have changed. This causes confusion. :arrrg: HGB might be showing no signal even though there is one on the chart because market conditions have changed and the signal no longer applies. Change chart tf and then back again and the signal will have disappeared from the chart.

Everything is at an early stage of development. We will arrive at optimal thingies eventually, but it will take time.

It sure does and I don't understand why this was designed that way. Should the original signal (on the current candle) still be traded, even if it was superseded by another one, or was removed? Probably not -- that's why I think that the signal should be updated (on the chart) as and when they are changed.

Hey Steve,

The two wavy lines are/mean...

1. Buffer 7 - "This move has run out of steam (for now)". Above the candles, no more upward movement for a while (getting a bit range-ey)... Below the candles, no more downward movement for a while (getting a bit range-ey).

2. Buffer 8 - We're about to head out of the range, but we don't know what direction 'til it happens.

As to why both buffers appear at the same time, I don't know :( I've been playing with it on a M5 chart in the backtester to practise manual trading with it, and they still both come up at once.

Take care,

&

Have fun!

I deliberately coded so that functionality could be added to individual trading strategies without running the usual risk of LUC inviting his buddies for dinner and a top line booze up.

So, extra trade exit stuff is easy to add. Sing out if you want me to code something.

Steve

If possible can you add to the future to-do-list.....ATR TP & SL & also for the Trend, Ranging & RAD might be worth forward testing TakeProfitPips?

Code: Select all

TrendMultiTakeProitPips

Code: Select all

RangeTakeProfitPips

Code: Select all

RadMultiTakeProitPips
I started yesterday to look at trying to cut and paste the code myself but after reading this I thought its best left to the maestro :good:

If we would know what event paints the waves, we would understand better.
I think having the waves as an entry-/ exit signal for a trend-trade might prove usefull.

If you look closer, when 2 sets of waves appear buffer7 shows the wave first most of the times, followed by buffer8. Sequence is rarely the other way around. The 2nd wave would validate an entry in my observation.
