It should not, as when I send versions to pooler, I comment out all non essential print comments. Still working out some bugs and trying some things |

I would prefer to have the strategy sorted in my mind--after all I only thought of the hedging strategy 11 days ago. And also to allow Mantkinth to tweak some settings so that both Strat 1 and Hedge trades always open at the same time. I don't want to build the EA and create the strategy on a new thread--I want to discuss a strategy and EA that already works with ways to make it better. I've seen too many threads (although not here on SHF) descend into chaos with people drifting off into different directions until no-one knows what the original idea was and people just give up. Its like asking a group of people what they think of the economy and allowing them all to answer at once. Within in hour they would they would be throwing chairs at each other he he. I'd rather tell them "the economy is tanked--how do we fix it. Give me a 1 page written answer" Less chaos and they all know what to discuss---hopefully |

Hi Pooler First of all thanks for sharing your EA. Please correct me if I'm wrong. With Strategy 2 you are placing opposite trades at the same levels. This will be the same as if you trade the Strategy 1 with a lower lot size. If you buy 0.02 and you sell 0.01 at the same price you buy 0.01. That's why you reduce your DD. According to option 1 for TP (I mean close all orders at Strategy 1 TP) the result must be the same than a grid with reduced lot size (Strategy 1 - Strategy 2). According to option 2 for TP (Chandelier) results might be different but not too much. Please I want to be wrong but in my opinion Strategy 1 + Strategy 2= Strategy 1 with lower lot size and higher TP (calculated for Strategy 1 with higher lot size) Conclusion: trade Strategy 1 and move TP as if you have a higher lot size Please I want to be wrong but ........ |

Hi Caillou, If you don't mind I'll give a more complete answer with trade examples later. Just busy putting it together. Regards Pooler |

Thank you very much Pooler. Waiting for your explanation. I'm a great fan of grid systems but has not found any which is profitable in the long run yet. Maybe my search is coming to the end........ If you can make a trade example with TP at TP Strategy 1 (not Chandelier), closing Buy and Sell trades at the same point, it would be easier to understand for me. Thanks again |

Hi Caillou, See attached spread sheet. I've only done for trades going long above pivot line. Remember strat 1 is increasing by a lot size every time while strat 2 hedge is not increasing. This where the "secret' lies. (and hopefully answers your previous question 2 posts ago) The Hedge SL is the same as Strat 1 TP as you requested. This helps to dramatically decrease the draw down. Compare the areas highlighted in red in strat 1 on the left (this is the draw down before TP is reached) to the blue areas in the hedge on the right. If you deduct blue from red you'll see the hedge reduces draw down by half. Remember this was my first aim ---to adddress the draw down problem of strat 1 FxPooler v2.1. As a pleasant side effect I suddenly realised the hedging also dramatically increases profitability as price fills more levels. So the drawdown is halved while profitability increases and no trade ever ends in a loss. Its a mathematical impossibility. I wish all side effects were that good Now if you add the Chandelier trailing exit-set at 3 ATR (the new EA has this) and move Hedge trades SL's with Strats 1's TP (as per spreadsheet) or with Chandelier trailing according to whichever of the 2 is closest to price you increase the hedge trades profitability quite dramatically. What can then happen is Hedge trades can close before Strat 1 trades but thats not a problem as you bank that profit which increases your equity to off set draw down. If trade takes off again then hedge trades will just start again at the next level while strat 1 continues till retracement to TP |

Thank you Pooler but I think I have not explained well what I said. If you take just Strategy 3 with lot size = Strategy 1 - Strategy 2 and the TP of your Spreadsheet you will have exactly the same results. So you can avoid taking any hedged trade, just trade with Strategy 1 with 0.1,0.2,0.3...... and the TP of your Spreadsheet. Do the calculation, exactly the same..... |

Myself and Mantkinth will be testing the latest version tomorrow. Will post results. The problem I had was Limit/Stop trades filling at different prices because of spread. Even worse a Sell order would fill and price turned without filling the buy limit. Price would go long with the Sell trade open without a SL because the first stop loss is the Buy TP. Not a good scenario. Mantkinth's solution is quite ingenious. Only set a Buy Limit/Sell Limit and open a sell/buymarket order when pending Limit is filled. It is also an elegant solution for those crim's that limit you to the amount of open orders. If you multiply 28 pairs with 4 pendings you screen gets rather busy. Now hopefully EA will only open half that (obviously depends how many pairs you use) Lets see. If that works then I'll start new thread. |
