I've already programmed this, it is on page 1 in the indicator Gadi_OBV_v2.3b Custom Range.mq4

I thought I'd set up a demo on a few pairs as I have always liked the concept. I have had a slight issue though with stops. A couple of trades had the stops set fine but these 2 had stops set a huge distance away (and correspondingly low trade size).

Any ideas? I am using the set file posted (kz.set) - only changes to do with min SL and max spread.

Thank you Dave, this seems to be a bug. The EA is writing log files.
Can you give me please your log files that are in the folder YourMetatraderFolder\experts\files\
the files that look similar to this: CJKILLINGZONE_EURUSDm 2013.12.13 21.05.log
So, perhaps this gives me a clue to what went wrong.

Hi Chris,

I had a look at the log files but there doesn't seem to be anything obvious there. I have attached them here - I also attached the Experts\Log for that day too in case that gives more insight.

Using fractional account in each trade (%) is a sure looser.
Consider a 50/50 chance of win/loss:
2 wins and 2 losses - each 50% of the account.
You'll end with 56.25% of your original account size...

If you do have an "Edge" over the 50/50 chance, the fewer losses still reduce your potential profits.

I think you need to explain your thinking here a bit more G as I am not getting your point. Your example assumes 1:1 R:R and a 50% win rate. I guess what I am confused about mostly is how you would go about building a fixed lot trade model especially one that builds capital and is sustainable in the long term. With your example you end up at break even whatever the fixed lot size. The key for me is ensuring that either the R:R is significantly better than 1:1 or your edge is pretty big and you get a high % of wins.

I assume you are talking about fixed lots and increasing the lot size once certain account growth targets have been hit?

I am replying to this as I read some of your thoughts on FF and clearly you are not a newb and I would have kind of dismissed it coming from some people. You clearly have a plan - I am just not sure I get it. :?

Dave,

Starting a new strategy, you have to take into account at least the base line:
50/50 chance and 1:1 win/loss.
Any other "Edge" should come later on.
If, based on those base lines, you have a loosing strategy - that's a flaw.
With proportional/fractional lot size you are doing just that.
You should, at least, break-even (minus criminal costs) running it randomly.

There are other methods to compensate for that, besides fixed lots and stepping, but that's beyond the scope of this forum.
MM is a neglected issue by many traders and programmers - folowing what other said is best... and it's not...
