Yes.

V 1d is in post 1. This fixes a number of bugs that arose whilst I was demoing the EA, but does nothing to address my future plans.

I have refined my demo trading down to: M15 chart; trade on the open of a new candle only; trade only in the direction of the moving average trend. The account is up 1% since inception; not a lot but looking good as the bugs are fixed.

The ea loses when the market escapes the box and trades, then retraces back into the box and closes the trade at a loss, then escapes the box again....................................... etc

My plans are to have the ea draw the box only for the relevant trading period and then leave the box in place on the chart so we can see where the trades were taken and why they were good or bad trades. I have plans to allow the ea to change the colour of the box once a trade has been taken, to an 'invalid box colour' to prevent 'chop' trades to be taken.

None of this is overly complicated coding, so perhaps now is the time to state why I have not always been completely at the helm of my forum lately.

My wife collapsed several weeks ago and was taken into hospital. She is still there. To cut a long story short, she has nearly died twice. Hospital visits take a huge chunk out of my day - much of which I used to use for coding and managing this forum.

My friends here have done an invaluable job in keeping the place running smoothly. Tommaso is an utter, absolute, fantastic and invaluable star - unless you are an idiot you will have noticed this.

So, I still have plans for this EA. I consider it to be the most promising I have coded so far after BASA. I just might not be able to realise those plans immediately.

Thanks for your kind words guys - I really appreciate them.

V 1e is in post 1. From the edited info on page 1:
  • Then there is your choice of line colour for the box, and the list of inputs is repeated for the NY session. There are inputs that let you set the colour of the box lines once a trade has been taken, or we have moved outside our trading period (LondonFinishedLineColour and NewYorkFinishedLineColour). BB regards the box as no longer tradable once it changes colour. It does not remove the lines; this allows us to study what would have happened during the rest of the session when a trade has closed - BB is a once-a-session only trader. Note: the lines are trend lines and BB has code that locates the most recent ones, so do not draw your own trendlines - you will bugger up BB's working.
I have re-coded the trendline drawing so that the lines are drawn only from the start to the end of the trading session. The ideas behind the changes I have made are:
  • we only want one trade a session to avoid the chop where the market leaves the box, only to retreat back inside, then hit stop loss then exit the box again..........
  • leave a record of the boxes on our charts so we can more easily study what happened during the trading session, to help us with steps forward.
I am not sure if a stop loss update was part of V 1d. I have re-coded the auto stop loss feature so that it is always at least at the opposite extreme of the box. Those of you trading a 1:2 risk:reward might want to bump up RangeTakeProfitMultiplier a bit to compensate.

Have fun. BB is looking promising and I am going to mention it again in my weekly round up. I know there has not been one for a fortnight, but stuff was happening that took my mind off preparing it. There will be on this week.
