Yes. My understanding is that the blue wave is more powerful than the trend arrows. Bear in mind though that this is an understanding I gained some time ago and I have not read the instructions since, so if it was a misunderstanding then, it is a misunderstanding now as well.

You're understanding is perhaps correct. I witnessed GBPJPY rocket northwards on a blue wave with no green arrow in sight.

DigitalCrypto, what would you recommend testing, given limited VPS space?

I want to try different timeframes (M5/M15 and M15/H1). Undecided wether or not giving the blue wave a shot or just go with the arrows.

I'm not sure what you mean. You just described 4 charts for 1 pair. Test whatever you like. That is the whole point, to find out what works best for you and report back your findings.

I am all of 2 weeks familiar with HGI so by no means am I an expert on it. I don't even qualify as noob. But I find that with m15 you can build a position that can last 4-6 hours or more quite easily. It all depends on how long you want to hold the trades or suffer drawdown I suppose.

If you have limited space try testing your favorite 4 pair.

The pairs I am testing are:

EUR - AUD/CAD/JPY/NZD
GBP - AUD/CAD/JPY/NZD

@Steve,

On a FIFO account I get a trade closure wait while the FIFO routine is running to close all positions. It worked nicely but it took several minutes to close the trades because it was too soon after a trade event to run the routine again to close the remaining trades. Then when it ran again it closed a single trade and paused for the next one etc instead of batch closing the remaining trades.

Is there a way to close them all without hitting that pause during closure or is it best to leave it be?

I am not getting that David, and I would be surprised if anybody else did. There is no pause built into the trade closure loop; this is something to take up with your broker.

All I saw on the screen was "CANNOT TRADE YET. TOO SOON AFTER CLOSE OF PREVIOUS TRADE"

Wasn't sure.




EDIT:

Doh. It closed a sell trade on a green arrow so it was trying to buy the closures. Nvm.

Here is a note to all of you new to using so-called Expert Advisors.

MetaTrader4 is total crap. Our description of it as CrapperTrader4 is not an affectionate jokey thingy; it is a reflection of how bad it is.

On a sliding scale of 100 down to 1, where 100 represents the most appallingly lamentable bollocks and 1 represents the bliss of utter perfection, CrapperTrader4 scores 1,000,000,000,000.

Here is a trick it loves to play. There is often a delay in receiving a return receipt from the broker's server so the trade does not yet exist in the Crapforms memory as an existing trade - so EA's cannot see that the order sending function has worked. It does show the damn trade every where else, so we think it is working perfectly.

Here is what happens:
  • EA discovers trading conditions are correct for trading, yells, "Yippee, let's party" and sends the trade.
  • The return receipt is delayed.
  • There is another tick. The EA cannot see that an order has been sent to the broker's server because there is no return receipt.
  • EA has no memory of having sent the trade, discovers trading conditions are correct for trading, yells, "Yippee, let's party" and sends the trade.
This process can happen many times in a quick moving market. You can easily find yourself with 60 open trades, all costing the spread and commission, and blowing the account if the market goes against you.

My EA's are full of safety code designed to defeat the best efforts of the Cretins at Crapperquotes to defeat safety features added by a coder. PostTradeAttemptWaitSeconds for example, tells the bot that once it has attempted to send a trade, it must not attempt to do so again for three minutes regardless of whether it thinks conditions are correct for trading. It cannot remember the trade it has just sent - it just knows it is not allowed to try again for 3 minutes.

The default is 3 minutes because we are mostly on the M5 here. I always set a default of 10 minutes on higher time frames.

I would not bother even to have bad dreams about using an EA that lacks these safety features. Accounts get blow easily enough without aid from CAC.
