George, when someone first pm'd me a few months ago to code an ea for this, I refused because it failed my 'too many pretty-coloured thingies need to line up' filter.

I coded the EA because you had been generous to me, not because I dreamed even for a moment that it would be successful.

Manual Symphonie may well be successful if it strikes a chord in the heart of the trader, as 10.2 has in mine. The EA is a clear failure and I strongly recommend that you do what the rest of us have done, and abandon it.

I am clearing all my platforms of all EAs, indicators and templates with exception of Forex Robot and NB10.2. Forex Robot has been trading profitably for the last 6 months (not huge profits but 3% per month almost hands free). NB10.2 seems to have everything needed for trading forex (e.g. S/R, Pivots, MAs, TMA Slope, etc). We do not need anything else. Only time will tell.

Kind regards

cuzgeorge,

I posted this on the original Symphonie EA thread and I also wanted to post here as this may help you with your EA.

Steve,

I am saddened to hear that you are unable to recreate my Symphonie manual System as an automated robot.... :|

But I also understand......because many before you have tried and failed. Symphonie can be a very complex system that as humans find Symphonie easy but when trying to do as a robot it is very difficult to reproduce.

However, there is one more gleam of hope that I provide you that may turn things around for you and that (if possible) is the incorporation of a moving average line into the robot to keep it on the correct side of the trend in trading.

I use a 50 SMA line (shift 2) for direction when trading with the Symphonie Matrix. Basically you only take Symphonie signals that agree with which side of the 50 SMA line you are on. (Below = only Sell Signals and Above = only Buy Signals) I have found this is the best way to keep on in the trend that produces stronger signals generating more pips and the moves tend to be more powerful.

For a better explaination please see my post #12273

Hi Eval,
here are the settings and the EA i have prepared for this new test. The EA is hardcoded and some // notes added if you care to check the differences with a text-compare editor; http://www.text-compare.com/, thanks to GaryFritz for passing this on.

There is an indicator ,(attached), that Steve uses for many of his EA's , i have also attached a pic of the settings i've used for it, as there are 17 different methods. The method that is identical to your method is 14. Method 7 is close, and the one i'm using is 16. Your MA line (in red in the pic), is smack-bang in the middle of the AA's yellow indi lines.

if you look at the pic with the open positions, you'll notice the buy and sells at the same time, this is just a few but it happens a lot and my last testing was on H4 TF, this was going to be my last swing at Symphonie, but lets see if this helps along.

I've also attached some results from previous tests as of today. Unfortunately i had grown tired of the bad results and added some other EAs i was testing on the same platform.

I also started to use Steves MPTM to great success, but have'nt found the correct SL and TP settings yet for it and thus still testing with this brilliant Position manager. this is a definate and i'm running it on all my live accounts only at night time when i hit the sack and then in the morning i intervene manually if i have the time.

I will concentrate only on EURUSD as you have mentioned before, and use a dedicated platform only for this test. No MPTM for now and only the added AA as per your suggestions and. I'm also excluding Hanover ,NB, RSi , Slowkey etc etc. I will provide the link to myfxbook for all to see as the results come in. i'll get this done tomorrow morning.

Your picture shows 60 MA period, but you mention a 50 MA period in your post. are you okay wth the 60 on my settings for 5M TF.?? :?:
I'm not going to use the CBI inetrvention module and trade only on the rules of Symphonie. I left all indi settings the same except for the trendline, 20,5 and look back bars for sentiment, 300, instead of 3000. i'm also using M5 TF and i have zero'd out the higher and lower TF's that gave me no joy in my testing.

I do however need help from anyone who knows they have good, quality ticks and is confident of running reliable backtests or optimizing with the Hanover version of Symphonie EA, if it's possible at all. A set file is useless to anyone unless they have Hanover set up on their system. I am not able, or cannot run a reliable test on the Hanover version of symphonie. Can anyone help here please???? PM if you'd like EA's and set files for this purpose.

thank you and hope this works,
regards
cuzgeorge

ps: i hope i havent made mistakes on the attachments. it's late and i'm really tired.

This kind of thing really pisses me off.

Somebody somewhere managed to engage my interest somehow in this blasted system. God knows how.

Now, it suddenly turns out the there is an extra filter that nobody felt obliged to mention originally.

No doubt when the latest filter fails, then there will be another one.

And another one.

And another one.

There are too many pretty coloured-thingies needing to line up here for this system to succeed long-term. I suspect there are too many pretty coloured-thingies needing to line up here for this system to succeed medium-term.

I am not entirely sure how I failed to make it clear that I am no longer interested in this earlier. Maybe I used a few two syllable words.

Or posted them in the wrong forum.

Or insufficient bold type.

Or too bland a colour.

Or too small a font size.

So, here goes.

THIS ROBOT WILL NOT WORK.

I shall be making no further development here. Do I need to make my feelings clearer?

If anybody else wants to take up the running here then feel free to do so. I have removed my subscription from this thread and will be taking no further part.

:D

Steve,

I apoligize if I have offend; it was not my intention. I am not active here and only check in periodically.

I only wanted to offer some constructive help that may clean up issues with this EA. But as you state that the Robot does not work....and I am saddened to here that.

How I am making you mad by posting my opinion and possible help with the EA I do not understand. But obviously it has struck a nerve with you and please accept my apologies.

Best Regards,
