I only close on opposite FB either:

1st opposite
Opposite and Range Superslope
Opposite and Opposite Superslope

In this case I have kept open since H4 is also a buy. Yesterday was a retrace day and expect a push up today. Remember on H1 we are watching superslope on D1 so the colour will change during the day. I am not saying wait until daily close to make your decision but that is why I trade H1 and H4 together so I consider the combined view. If H4 was also showing range or sell then I would have closed on the opposite H1 FB this morning.

... I am still in these AUDCAD trades from 2nd March. Notice how Superslope closed blue in the end on Friday. What I am thinking is perhaps it will be better to change the difference threshold to 0 on Superslope so that it only shows buy or sell. This will fit in better with testing the EA then too. I have updated post 1 to reflect this change.

Thanks for updating on your trade. I was asking as my AUD/CAD had changed to RED on superslope so I had closed my AUD/CAD trades. Is the indicator repainting perhaps or some other issue? Also I have noticed my superslope is not keeping up with the candles? See attached image - It is blank and stops updating for the new candles.

I resolved this by reloading the template, my Empty4 version is 1045
Is there something wrong with my settings?

This is the reason I use Flying Buddha as the trigger for open and close. If you read my trading rules I do not close when SuperSlope changes colour because you are watching a H1 chart and looking at D1 SuperSlope so if you were going to close based just on SuperSlope you would need to wait for the whole day to close for the colour change to be counted and often that will give you a late exit.

SuperSlope shows you what is happening on the higher timeframe in the Now. Having a H1 candle close with the daily SuperSlope changing colour does not show you that the higher direction has changed only that it is being tested and if it stays that colour by the end of the day then yes for now it has changed :)

Using Flying Buddha as the trigger allows you to trade intraday by taking optimal entry and exit points based on price action around the 5ema when SuperSlope is also showing a potential change in direction.

On Friday when the opposite Flying Buddhas printed the SuperSlope was back ranging or blue so I did not close on these triggers since the positions were not yet in profit and at the end of the day SuperSlope was closing blue confirming that the uptrend is continuing for now so I held them over the weekend.

Once I get an opposite Flying Buddha and the trades are in profit I will close regardless of SuperSlope. Superslope is just the higher timeframe direction to help me decide which Flying Buddha to take and a guide to how long I can look to stay in the trade.

Hope this helps a bit more and if you are having trouble displaying the superslope you can change the max bars to limit how many bars of colour it has to look back at and print in colour. 200 should be plenty.

Thank you for the clarification, will test some more! :good:

I've just noticed your superslope on AUDCAD chart is completely blue on H1 however mine has partial reds on the same period and same settings?

Well spotted. I think I must have had my H4 template on that chart when I took the screenshot (with W1 Superslope) rather than D1. It should have looked like below. Sorry for confusion.

Ah I see, no worries!

BTW thanks for this, it's working pretty well for me for the most part :)
(Ignore the EURUSD, made mistakes by selling on blue slope when i thought it was red :/ )

If you want to stop SuperSlope confusing the picture with its own arrows on the chart:
  • load the indi into the editor.
  • go to line 768 and create a blank line so that 768 becomes 769.
  • type <return;> without the <> at 768.
  • F7 to compile.
