cozybooks » Sun Jun 11, 2017 5:31 pm wrote:Steve, what a great addition this is! Manually on live trades I was using the Daily chart with a sixths bands indicator set to 78 periods, which is about three months, then checking it once a day and changing stop orders to just below the yellow line on my sixths indicator.
It means a lot to me to find a respected SHF member validating what I am doing
This lets it get automated on the 1 hour chart, although it does mean I won't get the chance to miss big trades by entered the wrong price on my stop orders the way I usually do.
Exactly why I code scripts for my manual trade entries. Left to calculate everything for myself, I will bugger it up every time. :arrrg:
I was being adventurous and patient and waiting for price to go all the way back to the opposite blue line before looking to close a trade, trying to capture hundreds of pips instead of just 100 or so, but I like the way you are doing it, so I think I will run half my trades on my long term plan, and the other half similar to the more reasonable (smarter) system you are doing.
Quick note to noobs: the deeper your pockets, the higher the time frame you can afford to trade. HTF trades can run for months, even years.

cozybooks, assuming you are not a US citizen, then you can have equally valid trades running in both directions. Cycles happen within cycles that happen within cycles - still talking to the noobs here, not you.

So, the H1 trading direction might be long so we buy. This will conclude relatively quickly unless it is me doing the trading, in which case it may take weeks and weeks and weeks (see my posts in the DFC thread) :arrrg:

The H4 direction might be short, so we sell. We have equally valid buy and sell trades. The H4 trade will probably take a few weeks to complete and will go into a lot of DD whilst the H1 trade cycle completes.

And so on. Traders trading in the direction of the Monthly will be trading over a period of years and will have the pockets to withstand DD of thousands of pips.

And then we have the swap costs. Imagine the cost of selling one of the high swap pairs on the Monthly.

I am shuddering gently and sticking to the H1. :roll:
I can't remember if I got this indicator from your forum, but I've included it in case anyone else is as visually dependent as me at seeing what the sixths lines are doing over time or where they were 6,12 or 24 months ago.
Nice one. I have linked it in post 1.
Thanks again! :clap: :clap: :clap:
You are most welcome.

Ah, stuck in the USA I am, but we have been hearing that you have election issues on your side of ocean. We're happy to offer you a slightly used orange-haired president if you want more entertainment. We'll be happy to send him over to you. We'll even pay the shipping :oops:

No Global Prime here, but I do use Oanda in the U.S., which lets you set up sub-accounts off your main account, so you trade in the opposite direction by running long trades in one, short in another. This starts to multiply, as you can imagine, especially as you start to want to run different timeframes. 8-)

Thanks for the offer, but we have enough Certifiable Nutters of our own.

Here in the UK, we have two main political parties. There are others, but only two of them have a chance of holding power. The are; the Conservative party; the Labour party. We have the House of Commons. Our equivalent of your Members of Congress are our HoC members elected by their local constituents. Or so I understand it; apologies if I am wrong.

The Conservatives are supposed to stand up for Business and the Middle Classes. These in turn are supposed to be enemies of:

The Working Class, who are supposed to be defended by the Labour party.

The Conservatives are led by toffy-nosed gits mostly born with a silver spoon in their greedy mouths. You would imagine that the Labour party are led by honest folk from the mines and steel factories. Dream on. Labour are led by toffy-nosed gits mostly born with a silver spoon in their greedy mouths. These bastards merely pretend to have enjoyed a 'normal' upbringing i.e. mum and dad struggled occasionally to pay the bills. No they damn well didn't.

Guess what? You will not be surprised by what you are about to read. Neither party gives a flying fuck about their 'constituents' so long as they get re-elected at each subsequent election.

A year ago, the Conservatives were in power, led by Alistair Cameron. For reasons best known to their moronic deepest, darkest inner selves the held a referendum offering us Brits the opportunity to leave the EU. They were 100% confident of a remain vote.

The Electorate said, "Up yours, Cameron" and voted to leave.

The Electorate was a moron on this occasion, having clearly forgotten the reason for the EU coming into existence inf the first place i.e. 1914 and 1939, but that is for a different rant. Moving back to this rant: Cameron stood down and Theresa May won the Premiership in a coronation when candidates with firing synapses stood down.

In the meantime, having lost the 2015 General Election, Labour needed a new leader. For reasons best known to their deepest, darkest inner psyches, they elected the Cretin Corbyn.

Honestly cozy, Corbyn made The Orange President look like a genius. Really. Truly. My nightmare scenario in the lead up to the US vote was: Orange as President; Corbyn in no 10. I was subject to public ridicule for such preposterous ideas.

Ok,I wasn't actually subject to them, but only because I had the (rare) brains to keep silent in public. In private, people started to wonder if I needed help. Shut up now about the number of people here already thinking I need help.

Labour were unelectable. Corbyn really does have the electable qualities of a paedophile at a childrens' birthday party. Hopeless. Useless. A disaster. All May had to do was keep going. Instead, she loaded up the revolver, took aim at her foot and pulled the trigger.

She awoke one morning and thought, "Let's annihilate Labour for a generation" and called a General Election. Good Plan, you think?

Trouble was, she had intoned many times, "I will not be calling a General Election to confirm my leadership." or some such.

Then did.

And The Electorate gave her a kicking. Here in the UK, the Prime Minister leads her Party. May leads the Conservatives. The Party in power rules by having a majority of Members of Parliament in its party. Cretin May called the election with a comfortable majority. She lost it when The Electorate gave her a kicking.

Sadly for us, this demented woman and her party still have the most seats in the House of Commons and so is cobbling together a 'minority government' with the help of a tiny group of DUP members. No disrespect to these people, but I did not vote for or against them, and have no wish for them to have the disproportionate influence they are about to have on UK policy.

Were I a bigwig in May's local party, I would be calling for her deselection. Were I a resident in her constituency, I would never vote for her again. Should she survive to fight another General Election as leader of the Conservatives, I will never vote Conservative again.

The worst thing she did? She has made Corbyn look electable. What a cretin. :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg:

And you think you have problems with your Cretin?

Sorry about the rant folks. Better out than in, as they say.

We need to hire you to do rants for us in the U.S. - we don't have anybody this good over here. :P

V 1e is in post 1.

Peaky sent her first gap-filling sell stop this morning, but with a wacky take profit. The problem was the placement of the line of code that sets the take profit for the stop order.

Easiest for DIYers is to copy this over the top of the existing function:

Code: Select all

void FillGapsWithStopOrders()
{

   //Fill in the gaps between the market price and the most recent trade
   //when the market is above the PH or below the PL.

   bool result = true;
   double price = 0;
   double SendLots = Lot;
   double stop = 0, take = 0;

   //Sell stops
   if (LatestTradeTicketNo > -1)
      if (BetterOrderSelect(LatestTradeTicketNo, SELECT_BY_TICKET, MODE_TRADES))
         if (OrderType() == OP_SELL || OrderType() == OP_SELLSTOP)
            if (Bid - OrderOpenPrice() >= (MarketDistance / factor) )
            {
               price = NormalizeDouble(OrderOpenPrice() + (MarketDistance / factor) / 2, Digits);
               take = OrderTakeProfit();
               if (!DoesStopOrderExist(OP_SELLSTOP, price))
               {
                  stop = CalculateStopLoss(OP_SELL, price);
                  //Lot size calculated by risk
                  if (!CloseEnough(RiskPercent, 0)) SendLots = CalculateLotSize(price, NormalizeDouble(stop + (HiddenPips / factor), Digits) );

                  result = SendSingleTrade(Symbol(), OP_SELLSTOP, TradeComment, SendLots, price, stop, take);
               }//if (!DoesTradeExist(OP_SELLSTOP, price))

            }//if (Bid - OrderOpenPrice() >= (MarketDistance / factor) )

   //Buy stops
   if (LatestTradeTicketNo > -1)
      if (BetterOrderSelect(LatestTradeTicketNo, SELECT_BY_TICKET, MODE_TRADES))
         if (OrderType() == OP_BUY|| OrderType() == OP_BUYSTOP)
            if (OrderOpenPrice() - Bid >= (MarketDistance / factor) )
            {
               price = NormalizeDouble(OrderOpenPrice() - (MarketDistance / factor) / 2, Digits);
               take = OrderTakeProfit();
               if (!DoesStopOrderExist(OP_BUYSTOP, price))
               {
                  stop = CalculateStopLoss(OP_BUY, price);
                  //Lot size calculated by risk
                  if (!CloseEnough(RiskPercent, 0)) SendLots = CalculateLotSize(price, NormalizeDouble(stop + (HiddenPips / factor), Digits) );

                  result = SendSingleTrade(Symbol(), OP_BUYSTOP, TradeComment, SendLots, price, stop, take);
               }//if (!DoesTradeExist(OP_BUYSTOP, price))

            }//if (Bid - OrderOpenPrice() >= (MarketDistance / factor) )

}//End void FillGapWithStopOrders()

Wonderful results, Steve! Congratulations on a great trading idea turned into a wonderful EA.

I started Peaky live early in the week, but he was starting with a clean slate and no existing trades open. Still, +128 pips in closed trades, +50 pips in running trades. Probably would have been higher, but I accidentally closed a couple of trades when I thought I was working in a different account.

Happy Days! :party: :party: :party:

Hi Steve,

Been a member for some time, don't post much but i'm always keeping up to date and following the threads.

I started Peaky (demo for now) on 5th June and so far have +1160 closed and +25 open currently.

Peaky absolutely suites my style and risk tolerance, also the draw down is minimal.

Thanks very much for creating and sharing it with us.

Cheers
Jon

Just about to post something similar. Up just over 1,000 pips for the week and it also mirrors my trading style. I am also demoing H4 and D1 to see the difference but to be honest H1 seems to be the one to go with Live. Thanks to Steve etc for this
