Hi Kopan,

Welcome to the U.S. Traders party! :smile:

Everyone is different, but three of the bigger decisions are:

Timeframe: 15 Minutes I think on Peaky Fifo

NoOfBarsOnChart, which defaults to 1682 ... and

MarketDistancePips, which on the 15 minute defaults I think comes out as 40 pips.

On the very limited 15 Minute TF Live account I have going, I changed the MarketDistancePips to 80. In theory, this means a lot less trades for me if the market isn't moving much and a lot less total profit. On the other hand, there's less risk involved if the market keeps coming back just far enough to fill my stop orders and then continues moving against me.

I'm only running four pairs on my live 15 minute account right now, vs. a whole bunch of pairs on the 1-hour timeframe account. It will be interesting to see how the 15 minute live test goes. I'm not completely convinced that the lower timeframe can stay out of drawdown trouble on what Steve has described as the 'Leaky Toilet' situation, but I'll be happy to have Peaky Fifo prove me wrong.

One of the options I am considering is that if I have a Long trade on the 1-hour timeframe for a pair, that I'll only allow short trades on a 5-minute or 15-minute timeframe for the same pair. I haven't completely convinced myself of this yet, but my theory is that it would prevent a situation of having both timeframes get into trouble on the same trading direction.

Here are the newest additions to Peaky_Fifo:
  • Added 'price checks' for sl, tp, order open price
  • Added ability to use varied lots, to avoid fifo at Oanda
I included an option to use lots per dollop instead of a starting lot amount:
UseLotsPerDollopAsMedian: 0.06, 0.07, med 0.08, 0.09, 0.10

I ran this version side by side with the original Peaky and this is as close as
you can get to her results.

The newest version is in post #1.

As always, tips and suggestions are always welcome.

Mixed Results so far. I have a bunch of trades open on 15 minutes charts, which looks okay on a quick glance (will check more detailed later).

GBPAUD and EURAUD opened multiple trades, doing kind of the same thing. EURAUD screen is attached.
7/5 21:30 .01 Sell trade opened.
7/6 06:05 .02 sell stop
7/6 7:54 .01 sell stop
7/6 11:30 .01 sell trade (not sure when the sell stop for this was sent)

I've attached the set file as well in case it helps.
UseVariedLots=true
UseHighestLot=false
StartingLot=.01
UseLotsPerDollopasMedian=false
UsePriceChecks=true

MarketDistance is set only to 40 to try to get it send trades often, which it did.

I could have a bunch of stuff set wrong, but I was trying to get it to send trades of .01, .02, .03, .04

Let me know if you need more info or if you find anything obvious I've set wrong.

Thanks Steve, nice catch. There is nothing wrong with your setup, only the coder. :oops:

I was testing with UseHighestLot=true and everything looked fine. Lesson learned, quit being lazy and test all possible new input combos. :arrrg:

Stepping in to defend a fellow lazy coder here.

Fact is, the more combos of inputs that are available, the harder it is to test all of them. Sometimes you simply have to say, "Over to you guys. Go birdy when you find something wrong."

Gary, Steve is absolutely right. You can't possibly try every combination of options. We are better off when you, Steve and the other coders actually get to spend your time coding. The rest of us, who are the beneficiaries of all of your extensive efforts, should at least be able to spend a little time testing various combinations and get back to you with things that don't look right. Even then, there are so many combinations that user error is still a lot more likely.

So far, so good on Peaky Fifo. 5 Min. TF Demo running since yesterday. Three trades that hit their 30 pip TP, 2 trades open, 3 stop orders sitting waiting their turn, one of which is NZDCAD setting up a second trade, which is correctly set to .02 with the one live trade set to .01 lots.

That's my only doubled up trade so far with the markets not moving all that much, but I'll keep you up to date.

I had another demo set up to test Uselotsperdollopasmedian, but Windows 10 decided to install some massive update which took 90 minutes to install and left my system with no saved passwords anywhere. Okay for live accounts since I know the passwords, but was I smart enough to save the passwords of my demo accounts? :cry: You know the answer.
