Hi David, I should have mentioned that if you try and load all 28 pairs with all these indicators there is a performance hit. Before TDesk I had 1 chart cycling through the pairs I was interested in watching, I mainly watch between 9 to 12 pairs based on my weekly analysis as I'm a manual trader. The future for TDesk for automated trading which is great and I would only apply automated trading to the pairs I want to watch. I have been looking at the set of indicators to improve performance or to reduce them to provide a signal for me to go to a chart with the full set of indicators for further analysis. I would like to illustrate a point about this system and when price reaches a trading zone. Earlier this week BUY signals would have been generated for AUDCAD and NZDCAD as they reached the lower/support trading zones. When price reaches these zones there is a higher probability price action will change and you can see for these pairs that was not the case and price continued to drop (over 100 pips), maybe because of CAD's current strength and the positive news on trade between the US and Canada. At the beginning of the week I identified CAD as a strong currency and would not have considered selling it against any other currency. The system told me not to sell AUDCAD and NZDCAD because they were in the lower/support trading zones. As price drops for AUDCAD and NZDCAD and they stay in lower/support trading zone, we have to wait for price action to change before we trade and BUY these pairs as they have the potential to continue falling. What goes down must come up, how do we know when price action for these pairs has changed, this is where TMS_Angleator and HGI provide some help. I'm watching and waiting on these pairs and have TDesk setup to send me a signal when price is moving up by using the TDesk Trading Bias Button indicator and setting LONG for these pairs. Hi Tim, Thanks so much for your great contribution on TMS (TDI), i'm newbie but falling in love with this strat. And I just hope and got you there. Thanks much again. For the setup, I just tried 8 pairs in my PC and with some indie. It hang and I tried to find what indie occurred that. And finally, I try to just add TDI and TMS, and they slow down my PC event just 1 pair with 2 tabs (1 for TDesk). I thinks that my PC getting old, but I still doing with others indies better. So I decide to make a new Empty4 installation and do it again. Thanks much Time for your ideas in trading with that system as well and the TDesk, its really great. David. |

Hi all, Very exciting times! As a predominately manual, trend-based trader, my strategies revolve around defining the trend and then taking bites out of this direction with a suitable signal. Often the trend is defined at a higher timeframe and then the signals are created on a lower timeframe. The problem with this is that you have to use MTF indicators if you want to see everything on one chart and there are "wet paint" issues with doing this. My preference has been to find a trend indicator that can show a trend on your signal timeframe (in my case H1) without too much noise - not flipping from one direction to another. I've taken one of my favourites and made it TDesk compatible so I thought I'd share it here. The base indicator is a smoothed Heiken Ashi but it is shown as a single line rather than bars - essentially the line just follows the mid point between what would have been the high and low of the HAS bars. ((H+L)/2). The default settings have served me well but I've left them free to be fiddled with. BUT!!! This is not a MTF indicator and therefore you can not set the timeframe on which it is based. If you're TDesk is set to load up H4 charts then you'll get this trend from an H4 perspective. If you change timeframes on your charts then the signals back to TDesk will change. If you're happy to stick with one timeframe then this will work for you. Enjoy, Bruster. EDIT 08/10/2018: Updated as some users reported updating issues. |

Hi, Thought I'd share another one while I'm at it. As with many of the threads on this forum, I'm a believer in taking account of individual currency strength and not just focussing on one pair at a time. When EURUSD is falling, what's driving it? - USD strength or EUR weakness? When you've got a large basket of trades across the majority of the 28 crosses it's easy to lose track of what you've actually risked against each of the 8 currencies. You'll know what you've got against each pair but they don't really exist, it's also important to know overall how you are positioned against each currency. I've coded this simple indicator that breaks down all the live trades and splits the lots across the 8 currencies. So, for example, a long trade of 1Lot on EURUSD is shown as 1 Long EUR and 1 Short USD. I find that seeing this summary helps prevent me from placing too much risk against one trade idea - eg. if the dollar moves sharply then every currencies' cross with the dollar will also move and you'll be presented with lots of signals on TDesk. If you took all these signals you'd end up heavily exposed to the USD. Similarly, taking trades across several different crosses can sometimes leave you underexposed to a particular currency because your various trades might hedge that currency. This is not for everyone but I thought I'd share for those who find it useful. Note: It only works for the 8 majors and it won't work if you have a prefix. Bruster |
