The way it works is this:
GridMaster is the overall controller EA. It tells the GridDancers when it is time to do their job (which is opening trades). GridDancer's do not close trades, except when they receive a message from GridMaster to Rinse-n-Repeat (or Rinse-n-Remove). In that case, they close all their own trades (for their own symbol) and move on.
Outside the trading times (as set on GridMaster), GridMaster continues to monitor and close trades (as soon as it finds a combination that exceeds the value for MinProfit).

Hope this clarifies.
Thanks Rene for clarifying.

I was just interested if outside trading hours as set on GridMaster it just monitor and manage trades ( closes them when conditions for profit/loss occur ) or it tells GridDancer of specific symbol where trades are left open that can also offset if conditions changed outside trading hours.
What do you think about that ?
Since I am trading London and NY and have left open trades and in Asian session that pair change trend and since GridMaster do not let open new trades ( offset them ) till London can result in significant DD that will be hard to get out. Should they be allowed hedge will reduce DD or even close trades if combination is found. Just some thoughts that came through my mind.

Anyway here are results in 3 days. Pretty amazing and with almost minimal DD trading 0.05 lots.

Here's my results since yesterday using Maddy setfile kindly shared by Neno0102 :good: ...GD/GM With almost default settings, have only changed the first option in GD settings from 0.05 to 0.1...Again a good tip from Neno0102 :) ...(Trading from 00:00 to 23:59, will change this from next week.)
Neno0102, what time have you set your EA to trade? Have a fantastic weekend everybody :)

I am using H1 column twice since I want to be alerted of possible reverse when 5/34 H1 MA crosses as this is signfor me that it is either deep pullback or even reverse of midtrend. I am using lookback period of 3 days and although those are not freshest signals but there are not many crosses of 34/13 especially on H1 so this is my midtrend.
I try to get freshest signals from M15 cross since M5 I think is too fast and even a little retrace will negate strength/weak currency.

I also changed at Griddancer ATRdistance to 0.1 from 0.05 to widen distance between grid trades.
Here is a set file from Maddy so you can test if you want.

Regards.

This is how it looks like and usually from DO 13/34 will cross only once per day and this is your guide and trend for the day. Hope it helps to get clearer picture of Maddy settings.
Hi, Your set file generates five columns, H1(34,13), H1(34,5), H1(34,13), M5(34,13), M5(14,5) i.e., three H1 and two M5 columns. It is different than the Maddy pic you have posted with four columns, two H1, one M30 and M15 each in the other post.
Which is the correct one? Thanks.

There is a tiny update (GridDancerv1.31) in Post 1.

Please read the release notes under the heading "Update: 2016-06-11" of that post.

Fantastic stuff Rene, many thanks! :hi: I'll be lending a hand here too guys. Got Leon's and both of Neno's setfiles on for starters. Have got strict set to untrue and allow a diff between sells and buys of 4. Thus using 3 identical terminals apart from their Maddies. Looking forward to this. I'll keep you posted! :good:

Take care, Aram

Hi desi,

You are right, I did test a lot of setfiles and still am with combinations of 13/34 MA's that proved to be best adaptive and responsive and which I am using in my manual trading. I sent wrong setfiles which I did with M5 TF which is simply too quick and even a little retrace negate strong/weak currency.
Sending setfile per picture .

Again my appreciation to Rene for hard work and giving us a new option in GridDancer.

Cheers !!!

It seems that the primary issue to fight against is the occurrence of sudden, vicious moves that travel gazillions of pips in just mere minutes. As we have absolutely no way of predicting which direction these'll go (otherwise we'd be instant billionaires), there however may be a few measures to think about.

We basically have 2 'sorts' of spike. A first one typically associated with 'news announcements'. Have a look at the horrendous gap NZDUSD left last week:
NZDUSD.JPG
Looking at the economic calendar 'explains' and could prevent being in the market at that point in time when heavy announcements are due.
NZDUSD calendar.JPG
So in order to avoid getting the dancers crushed by these horrendous events, we could let the GridMaster work in the following way.

Imagine a high-impact news event is due in 2 hours for either one of a pair's currency.
  • 1. Specify a 1st far away pre-event period. E.g. 2 hours beforehand. From this point on GridMaster will try to keep newly-fired trades at a minimum and try to exit the entire position in profit or break-even as quickly as possible. When it does, GridMaster then prohibits the GridDancers from trading until X minutes after the announcement.
    2. When time passes over a 2nd base - e.g. 45 minutes before the time of announcement - and the Master does not manage to exit the entire position at BE or in profit, we cut everything and proudly incur the loss. After all; It is worth paying for avoidance of potential whipsaw.
In attachment you can find a news indicator that is directly linked to forexfactory's calendar. Perhaps the code may come in handy if you do try to use any of this Rene. Inititiating the safety-mechanism is to be particularly recommended during red high-impact news events containing the words "rate", "monetary policy", etc.

Now that this is covered, what do we do with these..
GBPUSD.JPG
This is the second sort of spike I mentioned. GBPUSD mysteriously and out of nowhere flew through the roof in under 1 minute. There is absolutely NO WAY to have these predicted with any sort of indicator - leading or lagging. I tried analysing these mysterious and spontaneous events in the hopes of finding common characteristics. At first it seemed they occurred when volume levels were suspiciously low and price wasn't moving at all. Threw bollinger bands on there as I thought they could help finding the 'silent minutes before the storm' scenarios. Studying many of these I conclude that it is absolutely not feasible to do something with both volume and contractions of bollinger bands. If anything it will inhibit the capacity of the griddancers unneccesarily.

The sole thing that does have the potential to emerge as deus ex machina, is the spread. When the spread starts to behave suspiciously, we could demand the GridMaster to just cut the position superfast without exception and suspend trading for X amounts of minutes. My hope lies in the spread starting to show irregularity just a minute or two before that spike gets unleashed. Unfortunately I couldn't find an indicator that displays historical spreads. Therefore I'd like to make a request. In attachment I'm also including a spread monitoring indicator. It tracks a high, low and an average if I'm not mistaken. If your CPU allows it, put this on every chart you use for the GridDancers. Preferably on M1 as this is the shortest possible timeframe for us to access. This way we will be able to analyse spread behaviour of as many pairs as we can and hopefully witness their ability to forewarn us.
