Well I am using the old beast & Slopy Beast, but I was hoping that you could give me a direction as to which version (of the ones you're using) is most consistent and profitable.

-Its early days for Murphy's beats and i am happy how that is going so far.

-Slopey BEast v1d is doing great for profir, but paying dealy with high DD. its too early to play with the settings on that demo, have to see how the EA handles the DD first. This one i'm running with MPTM and hedging the crap out of anything it can hedge.

-My Beast set file is still getting tested, only about 2 weeks in the demo and doing okay. Unfortunately, this one needs months of testing but you can always look up the demo on the list by my signature, as we go along.

- Simple Beast from yester-year have two demos, one is crap, and the other is showing promis. Both had considerable DD but JL's set file handled okay and the second NOT. I did however change JL's set file a little, i think it had to do with the recovery. notes are in general tab.

- Marcello's Beast Set file, is okay, i'm not very happy or thrilled with it. Have'nt looked at it much, but did take it off stocks charts. It did well there but too risky with the amounts involved for recovery. Trading only on selected pairs for now.

- SLopey Beast is the latest and greatest and just when i was about to write it off, it came back from it's DD very impressively. i cant recall what/how it happened, i just remember watching the charts through the DD process and i was very impressed. It was first DD it encountered and am happy with the way Slopey Beast handled everything so far.

Thats what's caught my eye so far, let me know if you need any help and dont forget to run ONLY on 1hr. study the way Beast takes over any of your manual positions.

Hi Matt,

I have been trading The Beast for some two weaks now on two different Live accounts and it has been performing pretty well... Sure I do get some drawdowns, but the don't really worry me, since with the small lotsizes I am trading (I have a 20k FXCM account where I am trading 0,08 lots and a 10k Bully Pepperstone account where I am trading 0,04 lots) the drawdown has not gotten bigger than around 600 euros on one account. I am trading around 5 pairs at the same time.

When I was demo testing I got to around 1200 euros drawdown, but I was trading much more pairs simultaneously then.

Yesterday I upped the number of pairs I am willing to trade on my larger account, and also increased the lotsizes by some 50% - depending on the currency type. I don't mind doing a bit more especially on the ranging pairs. AUDNZD is always a good example for that. So far, over the past two weeks the Beast brought me some 1000 euros. Which I consider really very good considering the low drawdown. I am used trading a hedging grid, so you probably imagine I am used to some more serious drawdowns.

So far so good for the beast. I do get a lot of error messages though, both on FXCM and Bully Pepperstone when The Beast is changing SL and TP. Does anyone else recognize this?

Anyways, sometimes I get the impression that either Empty4 or my VPS server does not really like trading so many charts at the same time. Once it crashed, and somehow the Beast closed all my open trades at a loss, which was a bit surprising. I could not find anything in the code that might have caused that.

Because of this crash I basically got the idea of developing one EA that trades multiple pairs at the same time. I have been doing some preliminary backtesting on a system that instead of using the sixths makes use of 2, 3 and 4 standard deviations of the bollinger bands. It is a bit easier to program a system like that, than it is to program a Multipair Beast - at least so I think. And so far the backtesting results are quite promising. - I am fully aware however that the way I threw together this EA would not last two days in the real world. But including the right error handling and money management rules across currency pairs will take me much more time than I have been able to spend on the project so far. I plan to keep you all updated. It seems the least I could do after what The Beast - and therefore all of you, especially Steve.

On a sidenote.
I have come to learn that when I trade small enough lots and use a sensible hedging strategy, I don't lose a minute of sleep over any open trades, and so far I have been able to get out of any trade at least around break even. This took me some two years, but it has really impacted my trading and my profitability. And The Beast fits right in with this method. It is just the type of trading I like.

Hi yes, life for months with continuous account growth. I carefully chose my pairs AUDCAD,AUDNZD,AUDUSD,EURCAD,EURGBP,EURUSD,GBPAUD,GBPCAD,GBPUSD,NZDUSD,USDCAD avoiding the pairs that regularly get into L2 and L3 recovery trades. I use Marcello's set file but allow 7 open trades. Lotsize 0.15 with a 50k account.

Matt,
take some manual trades on SB and see how the EA reacts to them. Understand that part and you'll be able to understand how to recover after L3 also.

Remember, trade on the same chart/pair as you have SB on. Try also recovery positions on a chart where the beast is not on and see the difference.

This really is one of STeves best in my opinion.

Hi Matt,

I get the same error very often too. I haved looked for the reason causing it and I could not find a clear reason. I recall something Steve mentioned about the EA, about recovery orders getting the same order tickets as the primary order they are recovering for? -- This is just a wild guess. The system still works fine regardless of the errors. However it is somewhat unconfortable to not fully understand it and I plan to take another look at it before mid november. Hopefully I will be able to tell you more by then.

So both Matt and Mike notice that it is important to choose the right currency pairs. You guys might be right there. I am trading almost all currency pairs that are available at FXCM and Bully Pepperstone and I do notice that on occasions, the drawdown may become somewhat significant - then again, I guess it all depends on your account size. It seems to me that the Yen pairs have the highest drawdowns. Currently I am actually suffering some drawdown on EURJPY and GBPJPY. If I wanted to play it safer still, I should probably eliminate those from my trading. But on the other hand, when they come right they do make good money. So I figured I might keep them for now.

So far I have been trading the white box in the middle of the charts as well. I am getting the impression that the white box may give some profitable trades, but does increase the chance to more serious drawdowns. I would probably eliminate those for the Yen pairs (or for all the not-so-much-ranging pairs) before I would stop trading them.

Preparing for some further drawdown : Any of you have any good suggestions for dealing with a fourth trade in the 1-2-6 recovery scheme? I am now thinking to open another 6 or 8 size compared to the first trade, after the market moves another 150 pips away from my entry. I read that Nanningbob prefers to never have more than four trades open. Are there others who close the first trade when the fourth or fifth trade kicks in?
