Not sure if there is enough testing data yet...but I'll ask anyway:

1) What do you guys think is the best setting for trading times:
a) 1 hour BEFORE each trading session for the pair
b) START of each trading session for the pair
c) completely custom times based on WmiVol indicator

and...

2) How long do you leave the trade window open for?
a) 1 hour
b) 2 hours
c) 3 hours
d) 4+ hours

I've got several demos running with all kinds of different settings but so many possiblities, just thought you guys might have some input on your own results thus far with different settings.

Also, so far for me I had set it to +5 TP / -5 SL, but results weren't very good on my platform (Oanda Empty4), from what I've seen in this thread so far, it seems a +10/-10 setting works much better, I've re-adjusted my EA's to this setting and I'll see how it does.

And lastly, has anyone else noticed that the longer a trade stays open, the greater the chance for a loss?

Hi DSU,

I also removed the below code for todays testing. Hopefully more trades
/ if (dPriceCeiling - Bid < (5.1 / factor))
// if (Bid - dPriceFloor< (5.1 / factor)) :good:

Hi Guys,

I'm currently trying to run about 5 pairs per session and are currently have these issues and observations....

1...I think Asian session is a problem as the market does seem to change direction often across many of the pairs and you get many stop outs...key here i think is to either user smaller TP or trade later in the asian session....The later I'm looking to setup some demo charts to test this...

2...I think this strategy could work well staring at Frankfurt open and not London, I'm doing this with 10pip TP and working very well....Although, i need to look closely at my pairs, as some reach TP and the correlated pair reaches SL....So, ensuring you don't have any correlated pairs may be an improvement, or not having any could amplify any loses, again i need to test...

3....At the moment, I'm still having problems with the EA on the US session generating the following message "You have hit your daily profit target and so I have stopped trading for the day" I thinking this is due to the winning trades in the earlier (Euro) session, however all attempts to get rid of it, including setting DailyPercentOfBalanceTarget=0 don't seem to work..... I did post about this error earlier, but may have been overlooked...i do believe a stop trading when a profit level is reached is a good idea, but currently I'm trying to test the EA and just want all sessions to trade without this setting....I guess i could remove the EA's trading the earlier session, but then we would be missing vital testing in this session.....So, if this could be looked at, that would be great....

4....Also notice the EA places and removes pending orders, in some cases dozens of time across multiple pairs....Is this by design....Not sure it's a problem, just and observation....!

I'm currently running version m of the EA on a number of demo accounts, but primary focused on a FXOpen ECN demo....

Wiggy

Higher TF - H1 will minimized the frequency

Just one more question...!

I know there has been earlier comments about the chart time frame being 1Hr, but is it possible to set the EA variable "TradingTimeFrame=1" and still place it on a 5Minute chart....!

If not, i will understand, it's just i like the resolution the 5minute chart provides....

Also, can you confirm the allowable values for "TradingTimeFrame" variable.... is =1 suitable for 1H chart or do you need =60..? I have looked through the "Shell User Guide" and it does not detailed allowable options....

P.S nervous about posting questions....;-)

Just follow the instructions in post 1 for trading rules. No need to re-invent the wheel just for the sake of it.

The less pairs traded, the more profitable it will be. Don't be tempted to get all the moves in all pairs. You only need to get 3 x 3% to hit daily target. 5-10% way too much for daily target. I will be even happy with 4% daily returns.

Just trade the USD and JPY pairs according to sessions for the first 2-3hrs. These pairs trends nicely when it moves compared to other lunatic pairs which spike for no reason taking out the stops.

Just extra careful with GBP pairs for news. I got caught with GU yesterday and lost 20pips instead of 10 for slippage.

Run it in different settings and report back here end of the week. What matters is average weekly gain of 10-15%. You can lose 20% one day and gain rest of the week for about 5% daily. You still be up by 5%.

For the final time, this is my setting:

TF: 1H/H1 (don't fark around with other tf)

TP: 10

SL: 10

Stoch: True

Trailing stop: BE +1 after moving 5pips (double edge knife, sometimes better not having it)

Daily limit: up to individual (I set at 10%, most of the time I get it during Asia and free during London)

Trading time: first two hours only

Tokyo (AU, AY, NU, NY, AN)

London (EU, GU, UCHF, EY, GY, CHY)

US (I hardly trade since the daily limit of profit or loss is hit)

This is not set and forget type of trading. I still move the tp sometimes to 20pips or nearest S/R when trade is moving after news to catch the spikes. Instead of getting 3%, I sometimes get 6% in single trade.

I do use additional filter MA set at 50 EMA on 1H to limit the trades (sometimes better not having it).
