Hi Steve, This one here doesn't seem to be closing at cash targets. I tried dynamic and global. Interestingly over the weekend when you published your newer version of closing profitables first before losers, this is when I first noticed a fault. Even after my cheeky tweak that I've mentioned in my earlier post. It would seem that it is when it is trying to close non-hedged winners that the problem occurs. Funnily enough, it eventually closes much later in profit for reasons unknown. I'm not a coder, I wish I was because it would interest me to help. Many Thanks & Best Regards, Daniel |

I have had a couple of unhedged positions close, so they must have hit their global tp. The target-hitting detection code could hardly be simpler and I can see nothing wrong. |

Ok, sorry to question the code. I will keep testing and see why my position didn't close the unhedged position I was talking about. Could be my platform as I am running GP as well as another. And the one I am trying this new version of GW is with the non-GP platform. Thanks, Daniel |

There is a bloop in the tp calculation function that might have caused the problem. Line 3250: if (GlobalProfitTargetPips == 0)//Dynamic should be: if (GlobalProfitTargetCash == 0)//Dynamic Fixed in 1l in post 1. |

Thanks for the fix Steve! Can I ask what is the difference in setting where one input is Global Profit and the other Dynamic Target? I think Global Profit is self-explanatory but this Dynamic Target, I am curious to know how this one functions? Cheers! Daniel |

Dynamic is x * number of orders. If you set '10' and have 5 open orders, the EA will aim for '50'. |

Thanks Gertje! So does that mean I can set dynamic to "0" if I just want to basket a global cash amount of X ? or do I need to set dynamic to "1" with global target cash of X? Sorry to be confused about this. I just need to set a fixed overall X cash amount to TP. Thanks, Daniel |

Set the undynamic thingies to your chosen value and the dynamic thingies to zero. |

A number of consensus opinions are changing with the new reality of retail forex trading. Or should be, if the consensus holders have any firing synapses. Many thingies that were undoubtedly true 10 years ago are no longer so, or at least are less true and becoming less and less so as time passes. Criminal brokers who once had things entirely their own way are starting to go bust. Retail traders who once routinely lost all their cash are no longer doing so quite so routinely. Some of us are even starting to profit. There is a reason for this? It is time and experience. Ok, so two reasons, but stop being picky. There are a group of us at the core of shf who have been at this game for a decade. We 'grew up' in forex terms, together. They do not all contribute here these days, but did so in the past and gradually added to the breadth and depth of all of our experiences. I still see them passing by from time to time. Now we have people at the core with a wealth of experience gained mostly through pain over a considerable period of time. There is this thing about forex trading that kept some of us banging away at it even though it often felt like two steps forward and three steps back. We bring to this business a staggering force of intellect (well, OK, so not me but let's move on), experience, understanding and mental toughness. To put it bluntly, we are an unstoppable force of nature. Anyone who has the nous to do a bit of serious reading here will cut short the learning process by years and maybe save themselves a few of the blown accounts the rest of us have in our background. If the equivalent of shf had existed 10 years ago, then ours would not exist now because we would not need it. It did not exist back then because the expertise was lacking to create it. A few forums tried, especially the biggest of them all, but ultimately they drove away the very growing experience that would have made them into something special. To the immeasurable benefit of shf, some later members have stayed quiet and learned. A classic case of this is Kevin. He joined in Jan of 2014 and stayed quiet for a long time. There are all sorts of reasons why he should have stayed quiet but I am going to assume the best ones. He read and learned. Then he exploded onto HGBnG with the force of a supernova with the intent to do good for all mankind. What an explosion. Is he an invaluable member of shf, or what? We are getting stuff right here folks. Ignore the oldies who intone that such-and-such is impossible. We are changing the rules at shf. |
