There is definitely something to be said about odd spread behavior.. Have a look at these. The red line in the spread monitor is an average of the spread during those 1-minute intervals.

Consistent patterns that seem to occur are:

1. maximum spread rises above average over a few candles before a spike
2. both a rising maximum spread and falling minimum spread - a spread between spreads as it were. Check GBPCAD for this one.
3. Absurdly low spreads - e.g. CADJPY

These however are trickier:

No idea how we'd avoid the first one beforehand. Though it seems that the spread hits 0 at some point. This could've been at the very start of the spike, in the first part of those 60 seconds. The second one falls in maximum spread and minimum spread then follows up with a charge again. Perhaps avoidable ...

Ha can't believe it. When I drew the circle over that 2nd instance of that last GBPJPY screenshot I actually drew it over the spread bar. Here is a clear picture again. As you can see here as well; the spread hit point-blank 0 at some point during that 60 second spike. An obvious red flag which could serve as an instant trigger to abandon ship in order to dodge chaos.

This brings me to new ideas. I'm pretty sure we can derive much more valuable information by analysing the velocities and accelerations of spreads. For example I do recall witnessing live instances of spikes seeing the spread ranging between seemingly ordinary values compared to just minutes before. The only difference was how quickly they changed between that same range. You can witness this on the market panel board. It sometimes suddenly starts to flash. Unfortunately the spread indicator I use doesn't show variances like these. If anyone is interested in coding something along these lines I'm more than happy to assist in the mathematics of it.

Cheers

HI,Rene.Thank you for your hardwork.

I have some confusion.

This is my GridMasterv1.4 sets.
1.jpg
In the picture the yellow box,GridMasterv1.4 closed all my trades and I get lost.

And the red box,no losing trade,TP is 12.19

Are these two conditions correct?

No, these trade closures don't make sense. Do you have other EAs running on the account?

Only GridMasterv1.4 and GridDancerv1.3
If I remember correctly These once happened before when I used GridMasterv1.3

Kannyjie, try with 0.05 lots or modify MinProfit and EquityTP to adapt for 0.15 lots. :hi:

Hi,

There is no GridMaster 1.4 as I am aware, only GridMaster 1.3.
He did modify MinProfit && EquityTP and adapt to his lot size so this is not an issue.
I assume that he probably got margin call or hit Rinse'n'Repeat green button if he had no other EA running.

Cheers !!!

After a lot of testing I came up with some ideas that hopefuly Rene is going to consider to implement in EA.

We all know that biggest issue with this EA are sudden moves against our open positions that came out of blue ( not predictable) or driven by news (predictable).Deep pullbacks that eventually become reversals will also leave us in DD. Hope that with this teory just following price and react accordingly we can reduce DD significantly.
nzdjpy_m15.png
We have our longer term trend and shorter ter trend indicated with MA stacks. We have H1 34/13/5 - Solid orange/aqua/green lines and M15 34/13/5 - Dashdoted orange/aqua/green lines on chart.
As long as 34>13 && 13>5 on H1 we are in downtrend and vice versa for uptrend. All MA's are smoothed so this give us space to catch those pullbacks nice since smoothed MA's are not that reactive as others.
Problems started to occur where there is deep pullback like this one on pic. that can even go further and become reversal or could have skyrocketed so we need to protect ourselves since we have open positions on that pair.
A good indication that something is started to happen is cross of M15 34/5 Ma's dashdotted green/orange lines and as soon as that happens we want to offset/hedge our open positions. Since I have 2 open short positions with 0.05 lots we would take at cross of 5/34 on M15 0.1 lot long position ( secure our positions) and as soon as possible try to close our short positions offseting them with our long position with MinProfit. If price reverses and 5/34 on M15 recrosses and we did not manage to close our positions that means it was deep pullback and we repeat process again and take 0.1 lot short position as this is what we have in long positions open. Since those are 20-30 pips moves, it can range and we are protected and little trend will clear this out easily.
Main thing is that we are protected from those sudden moves ... in fact those would become wellcome since it will clear out are open positions and also with profit.

Please speak out loud if you have something to add and please Rene give us your opinion.

Cheers !!! :hi:

P.S. Rene, what would be very helpfull is if we would have lookback option for every timeframe in Maddy. Thanks.

It is.

In my opinion these spikes are formed due to the fact that there is no supply/ demand at some point.
So "they" quote the next best level, which can be a loooong way up or down. Another way is that "they" just don't give a quote whatsoever, making the price jump all over the place looking for a place to get filled.
