You keep saying strategy 1 can't lose, no strategy exists, unless you have unlimited margin and can keep positions opened for years.

Forexman1972,

You have anything positive to add at all? What would you suggest as a solution?
I might add something positive when I see the new EA and okay with it.

As I said this strategy will work fine until you get a big burst and the market doesn't retrace enough. Who knows you might be on level 20 and then what happens you probably run out of money, you won't be sleeping well that's for sure. At this level you would need a very large retracement to get out if it.

You could try adding more hedges on as the market move out of your favour perhaps?

You could certainly increase your position by more than + 1 at later levels which will lower the take profit level but of course increases risk by more.

Or you could change the level distances by making them tighter as you increase levels eg Instead of at level 7 for example maybe you could split it I half eg sell 3 at 157 and 4 at 157.4. This might mean you you can capture some of the retracement within the level in case it retraces . Otherwise if it doesn't hit your level 6 TP it hen moves away again and take profit widens.

Just some random thoughts whilst I sit on the train.

See overall--trades open and draw down. Its a $ 5000 demo starting with .1 and .2 lots respectively which is obviously very tight but I want to see if I get a margin call

Good morning Pooler

See your first 2 EUR/CAD trades: Buy 0.2 and Sell 0.1. Try just Buy 0.1 and you will have the same results. And so on with each level......

You're not getting the overall strategy. Its not "And so on for each level.."

If that price carried on for 4 levels you would end with far more profit than with level 1.

Please study the spreadsheet properly and read my posts. I'm not going to answer this over and over. Hopefully (soon) one of these live trades will demonstrate what I'm saying ....

Ok...I give up. Hopefully soon too you will understand that hedging at the same price with a lower lot size is the same as trading in just one direction.........

Good luck Pooler

Hi all,
first of all a big thank to Pooler and whoever is putting a lot of effort into this..I'm following it with much interest and learning a lot about grids, which I never considered.

Caillou, just a clarification/question on your comments: the advantage with Pooler approach is that you have defined SL and TP for each buy/sell order you start at the same price. This allows you to always have a "safety net" and take out some profit on the way no matter of market direction.
If you would "just" sum buys and sells of strategy 2, as you suggest, then you would be left with a single order open.

It means you are exposed in a total different way to the market..and how would you then manage the SL and TP for the resulting single order in order to be consistent with Pooler’s approach?

Sorry, just trying to fully grasp all those informations from both of you, maybe I miss something as well...
Keep on going! :D

Hi Mav

Look at EUR/CAD trades. You have a TP for Buy and a SL for Sell, so you only cut your trades if market goes up, exactly the same as if you have just one Buy with TP......THE SAME. Same DD, same profit, same risk, just a wrong psychological feeling of safety.

Cheers
