Yes Dave I agree.. I was wondering about using something like an ATR on W1 tf... 20 period for GBPJPY is about 250.

or maybe just a confirmed 3/8smma cross on D1

Always takes a lot time to test each scenario though.

Here is a version of the Multi Purpose Trade Manager which should apply Shelley's trade management rules.

You only need to attach it to one chart. It will manage all open charts of your Empty4 terminal.

Guys, I understand what you're all saying about improvements needed to the exit strategy...and I don't deny that, I just don't know what the answer is just yet.

Also, we must all trade how we feel comfortable and if having a stop loss makes you more comfortable, then I would do it. Make sure you share your results here so we can compare.

We're on demo (well you all should be) and right now (for me) the purpose is to take the trades according to the entry rules, watch the results and after minimum 3 months I will be reviewing MY results to see if/how losses could be minimised. This may mean a change in exit strategy, it may not! Time will tell. FWIW I do have some helpers in the background that are crunching some numbers for me...so when I get that information I will share it here as well.

It's still early days and although the results have been great, but there will be losses and you need to have the stomach for that as long as our wins compensate us adequately, which for right now is what is happening.

To date, I have taken 42 trades, of those 7 trades have closed at a loss due to change in trend...so really not enough to analyse and make a definite decision on yet (IMO)

I talked about the exit at the very beginning. What most need to remember is that this is week and day charts so 1000 pips could come into play. Being 400 or 500 out is not that much for this type of trading. So keep that in mind for lot size. The gpy could change in a heart beat. They call that pair the beast for a reason. So don't over react. But that does not mean not to try and come up with something better. That is what we are all trying to do.

Yes, it would do well for everyone to remember this especially if you are not used to trading these higher timeframes. Much more breathing space is required than trading lower time frames.

Some people can get used to it, some people never do...

Thank you for continuing to post your trades in such detail - ver informative.

On the AUDUSD.. looking back I can't see why you closed the short trade of 15/sep/2014 ? Unless it was a weekly up arrow that appeared mid-week & then repainted/disappeared by the end of the week - can you remember or have I missed an obvious close reason?

To me it looks like a short 15/sep (after the W1 new trend down) would have gone into DD of about 105pips before coming good... and closing on the 2nd for +250pips.

Any help/insight appreciated.
