Yes, I know. Couldn't solve it for me, could you? You clearly understand coding to a level far beyond me. Once upon a time this blasted routine worked, then I accepted a change which broke it and it has remained broken ever since whatever I have tried to do. Never again, ever, will I fix something that aint broke, however much I respect the individual who offers the 'enhancement'.

I am very close to removing the bloody routine altogether and telling people to use mptm. It is what mptm is intended for, after all.

We are talking serious frustration and irritation here.

As you said "Stealth purpose is to keep some of your settings secret from the crims and stop the less honest ones from stop hunting."
I think today it's no more really a problem as we put SL far ( oh so far away ! ) on weekly or monthly S/R and brokers today take care about stop hunting and erractic widen spread.
So I think we can keep my JumpingSrtopLoss() and the good tool to manually moving TP/SL with Chart Line.

NB 10.2 is a very good engine but still suffer ( as my backtest say ) from time to time, of a bad trade that never reach BreakEven and go down to stop loss...on Monthly R/S 1 or 2 ! And if we put closer SL... NB 10.2 engine sputtered bad results ! It's for me the most important work to do ...tomorrow ! :roll:

Now it's time to go to sleep...and avoid NB nightmare :lol:

Steve: You are a brilliant coder. Your greatest strength lies in sharing your code. You manage 30 EA's at a time, and often code one in less than an hour. There is another brilliant coder known to me who does not share his code. To create a single EA may take more than two years. Allowing other brilliant coders to examine your code is a mark of true genius.

Hehe. Thanks Glenn. As it happens, I did just create an EA for a pal and it did indeed take less than an hour. 't was a simple system, mind.

I am not a brilliant coder. There are people here who are; I am not one of them. Instead, I am a prolific coder. I merely batter problems over the head with a blunt instrument until they slink away and leave me alone.

Here are the two things I am really proud of:
  • 1) My work attracts the attention of so many truly brilliant minds - even if all they are doing is sorting out the mess. :lol:
    2) We are all here in my forum. It would not be here without me.

If you visit FF there is a thread named EAs inspired by Schlossberg. We went through the strategies in one of his books and Steve coded EAs for all of them. I think he has coded hundreds of different systems / strategies. Mind you, one thing he has not mastered is reading our minds (quite disappointing really :D ). Sometimes we mention an idea in our mind and he does not grasp it in the first instance and needs to ask questions. :lol:

Permit me to ask an utterly clueless question which has always puzzled me:

MPTM is an EA. The 10.2 or whatever thingie is also an EA. Empty4 allows only one EA at a time.

How can MPTM manage open positions with/for an EA, without totally removing and replacing the original EA? Do you have to manually go from "whups some of the EA's orders have executed, time to trot in MPTM," to "whups MPTM has closed all positions, time to fire up the EA again" ? And hope that you do so at the appropriate times, and that the EA wouldn't have done anything important whilst MPTM is in the cockpit?

If so, I'd say putting the logic into the EA is pretty important. MPTM may be fabulous for managing manually-placed orders or limited EA-placed orders, but it seems to have serious weaknesses compared to implementing the logic in the EA. For example I couldn't use MPTM to manage Shelley's basket trader because I'll be asleep when it opens its positions.

Am I missing something obvious? I am posting under the alfluence so that's always a possibility...

He,he :lol: !!! It is not clueless. It is the case that you are not familiar with crap Empty4. Or maybe as you say the amber liquid is doing some of the thinking. You can have as many EAs as you like with Empty4. You just need to place them on different charts. Although for obvious reason of not confusing the crap, free platform it is not advisable to have more than 1 trading EA with each instance of the platform running. You can have various EAs on the same platform and by giving them different magic numbers then each EA knows which trades belongs to it and manage it accordingly.

Please visit the mptm (Multi Purpose Trade Manager) thread in FF, it is a masterpiece. It can manage your open trades any which way you choose. You can even have different instances of mptm running on the same platform and each instance managing different trades according to Magic number, comment, pairs, etc. So what we do with some EAs is use them to enter the trade and use mptm to manage it, TP, SL, TS, etc.

Aha. My assumption was wrong: not "Empty4 allows only one EA at at time," but "Empty4 allows only one EA per chart at a time." Of course.

So you can run your EA on chart 1, and run MPTM on another chart with the same magic number, and it will adopt the trades from the other chart. Seems a bit clumsy to have two charts to manage one EA, but it would work. And it certainly would simplify the EAs.
