I came back here to figure out why my outdated version doesn't update Empty4 after an F5. So here I am reading through the posts to find what I need and it just goes on, and on, and on,...

Could anyone be so kind and navigate me, how to lock items in the Favourites tab, so they do not vanish after the editor closes and re-opens?

I tested it on my installation and it works. Looking at the sidebar.lua code, the favorites is saved in a file called "favorites.lst" that is stored in the root of your home directory (for example, c:\users\george if you happen to have a username of "george" and are using windows 8). You can see your homepath by opening a cmd prompt and typing "echo %homepath%". The session file is held there as well.

Thank you gaheitman, I located the file, it seems that it does not update. Looking at the lua code, it gives me no clue what might be the cause, so I am going to re-install the editor occasionally. The session file updates.

Yes. Whatever I type it shows up in the list.

EDIT:
I believe I got it. The space in the "Program files". Other paths do work, unless there is an item with a space, which erases all items.

As I said, this indicator with #includes compiles fine in Metaeditor but not SciTE. Not my SciTE anyway. I tried downloading and installing a fresh SciTE -- no improvement.

I've been doing more indicators than EAs lately. The last EAs I compiled were ShelleyNOW and the BJS Basket EA. I just compiled them again and it worked fine -- and they include stdlib.mqh and WinUser32.mqh. If I copy the identical #include to the indicator I'm trying to compile, it fails. Is there something different about #includes in an indicator?

I looked at stdlib.mqh. The first line in it says "#import <stdlib.ex4>". stdlib.ex4 doesn't exist anywhere in this Empty4 tree. If it's trying to import it, why don't the ShelleyNOW / BJS compilations hit an error?

I thought, OK, it wants stdlib.ex4. So I'll compile stdlib.mq4. Didn't expect it to do much, and it didn't. No compile errors, but no .ex4 output either.

So I found a stdlib.ex4 in an older Empty4 folder under experts\libraries. Copied it to experts\libraries in my Empty4 and tried again. No improvement.

I be confoozed...

In response to this, I loaded up one of the umpteen custom indis and added

to it.

Now, Gary, you know that I love the rare occasion when I can get one over on you and will crow to the heavens when this happens (heroically resists the opportunity to mention the self-banning incident )

On this occasion, no, sadly. ScITE threw up the same error message you got.

Luckily for me, this is Someone Else's Problem - you know my antipathy towards indi code - but definitely a problem.

I am not sure if this has been suggested but why can't you simply copy these two files from whatever Empty4 platform you are using to somewhere in the ScITE subdirectory from which they can be seen by the Editor.

I don't think these files change with the respective updates of the MetaCrap platform so once they can be seen by the Editor, all compiles should work.

The editor doesn't look for these files, it is the command line compiler, so it needs to be where the compiler wants to look.

I think there have been a couple of solutions posted to this issue later in the thread.

Yes, to re-iterate, the easier solution is to create a directory link to "include" folder, do this on "indicators", "libraries", and "scripts" folders. just open a command console (cmd.exe) under administration mode, go to your indicator directory (c:\whatever\indicators) and use the following command:
