  • LotsPerDollopOfCash: you can have your lot size automatically calculated this lot size per amount of cash in the account balance or equity. The default settings would deliver 0.01 lots per $1,000. A zero input turns this feature off.
  • SizeOfDollop: the cash increments used.
  • UseBalance: use the account balance for the calculation.
  • UseEquity: use the account equity for the calculation.
  • Example of use, choosing the equity:
    • equity = $2133.56
    • LotPerDollopOfCash = 0.01.
    • SizeOfDollop = $1,000.
    • Calculated lot size is 0.02.
V 1x in post 1.

Thanks Steve for the added feature..
This is particularly good for me as I prefer to use only 0.5% of my equity (eg. SizeOfDollop = $2000)

Every week it feels like Christmas here at SHF...

Hi all,

Thanks again Steve for all your work on the latest developments, especially the "cash dollop" bit, I've topped up your Paypal account with a token of my gratitude.

As the proud owner of 3 now fully hedged (5/5) positions and have not yet seen the sempahore doodah perform an expertly profitable cleanup, I've been thinking it would be nice to see an overview of the maximum downside risk of a fully hedged position on the text overlay, perhaps with the daily cost of carrying it in the account currency. I find the fact that I'm now fully hedged very reassuring and allows me to sleep easy, but seeing the cost of doing nothing may help with deciding whether manual intervention is necessary.

There's probably something fundamentally wrong with this request, that I may have otherwise noticed had it not been for a couple of glasses of wine so any effort to point it out will be regarded as educational.

Once again, thanks Steve and all that have made HGBnG everything it's become.

I just saw. Thanks very much for your most generous gift Greg. I deeply appreciate it.

Folks, I mentioned in my reply to Greg via Hotmail, that cyberevil and I are cooking up something that should help a lot with the hedging stuff. I will let you all have this tomorrow.

cy has a very fertile mind.

V 1z is in post 1. This has gone straight onto my live trading account and I have removed 1v from post 1.

I could see that CloseImmediatelySemaforAppears was not working, and think I have sorted it out - missing code.

cyberevil contacted me yesterday with a plot to help with DD in hedged positions.
  • Imagine we are hedged and that one side of the hedge is in profit - say the buys as an example.
  • Along comes a yellow wavy range line, so the bot:
    • closes the buys.
    • installs a fresh grid of buy and sell stops.
In this example, if the market obligingly falls at the end of the range, those sell stops will fill and we will be able to exit at a profit.

If instead it rises, leaving the market sells further and further behind, then the buy stops fill and we are hedged again. The market may rise for some time and more profitable buys be closed, but the market will fall eventually.

The input that tells HGB'nG to follow this course of action is CloseProfitableSideOnYellowWavy, in the Hedging section.
