Thank you! The filename is the same as before - v16.09. Apart from the new expiry date are there any changes? |

After 3 weeks of using the HGI and reading most of this thread plus the effing manual and summary pdfs (many times!) I thought it would be helpful, if only for me, to post my current thinking. This comes on the back of more than 5 years of trading. What I do know is that this is an amazing trading tool – thank you to all who created it, who patiently (and not so patiently!) respond to questions, and who made it freely available. Something that has interested me is the debate around so-called repainting – i.e. the frustration expressed in various places that what we see on the charts historically isn’t what was happening live because the signals are updated as market conditions change. What we see after the fact is only those signals that were left behind, and they look absolutely amazing. In an attempt to get around this traders have discussed various fixes, e.g. using indicators as additional filters. This line of thinking seems to me to lead towards greater complexity and confusion – if there’s a rough patch, ride it, be patient, but don’t try to fix HGI. But maybe I haven’t quite got my head around all of this discussion. Across all of this is the clear message that the signals are valid at the time they appear, but they will be adjusted if market conditions change. Somewhere Nanningbob says that we should go ahead and use those signals as they appear and manage what happens accordingly. He says we will have a few more losses this way but overall we’ll do better. So that's the direction I’m moving in. Take-home: HGI works as it is, it needs nothing else to ‘fix’ it and we should go ahead and use it. At least, that’s my particular interpretation and what I’ve extracted from my reading. So what I plan to do for the next week or so is the following: 1. Use H4 charts. 2. Enter on blue wavy signals and large arrows, use RADS to confirm continuation. Ignore small arrows and RADS for entries at this stage. (Also won’t attempt multiple trades yet). 3. Place stops just beyond the entry signals. 4. Enter immediately an alert sounds at market with just these two exceptions: (i) don't enter if the distance from entry to stop is too great and (ii) don't trade into nearby S/R levels. 5. Use the yellow wavy signals and opposite arrows (large or small) for exits. 6. Trade by alert, i.e. if I hear an alert, go to the chart concerned, check for my two exceptions and enter as in point 3. Then minimise Empty4 and let it run. Wait for next alert and enter/exit accordingly. (I know major news events can turn this all upside down so I will keep closer tabs on things at these times.) 7. Review towards the end of each day. That’s it. I’d be very interested to find out what other traders think of this and will report back when I have a reasonable idea of how it is going. |

I've went live last month and by trading HGI with CSS all my HGI trades brought in 5,78% compared to my deposit. Since I am trading 0.01 lot per 2000EUR, I don't care about trades going south or weekend gaps. Also drawdown isn't concerning me. My account took a hit when I have decided to shut down my other systems open trades with immediate effect although it brought pips. I decided that it wasn't worth my time since I realized that with HGI I can play nice and safe without one nerve moving. I don't need swings either in my equity or in my head Sensible money management keeps my exposure low so I can get out if I want to, without having Empty4 on my phone, while multi-trading adds up nicely. Thank you everyone! Not only for HGI, but for expanding my knowledge on Forex immensely. |

It's nice to see Bob's HGI forum still chugging along. You know there's a good reason for it. I don't know why I ever stopped using it, but recently I accidentally loaded a template with Bob's 10.9 PivotBoxes indi. I turn the daily, monthly and weekly all on and it's amazing how it tells you everything you need to know in a quick glance. I haven't been in the office much lately, but when I am I''ve been scalping AUDUSD with HGI on a 5 minute chart. Weekly Pivot just below the Monthly pivot, with the daily pivot in between them today. Gosh, AUDUSD loves to always come back to that .7600 mark! Price below all three pivot lines, I keep selling on every HGI big arrow signal, or I sometimes add a trade when price pops up to a resistance line. Then I look to close around support lines. I'm in the U.S., so I'm using Oanda's manual trade desktop software to enter trades of different sizes (1011, 1012, 1013 etc), so I can close them individually whenever I want. So far this is working well. I wish I was in the office more to make better use of it. Bob, you are the best! (and so is your system!) |
