Hi Eric, what time frame are you trading on? If H4, the strategy you mention means you might have to wait several hours before placing a trade, by which time things might have moved on. This is a dilemma for me too, so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

Alistair,

Fresh money comes into the market every 8 hours when that session opens. Your best moves will be during the first H4 bar of each session but after that it fades. The best way to trade HGI I have found is be available and at my computer just before the markets open for the session I would like to trade. Short work days.

I also use 240/60MA on M15 to get my bearing when looking for entries on lower timeframes.

Planning to use the H4 trend on the M15, using only the big arrows for entry and wavies for exit, but have to manage to work that around my schedule.

Thanks, looks like it should except for one thing, but I'll post that in the appropriate thread.

One thing I'm sure I will need to deal with is, learning to live with a lack of sleep until I can become a full-time trader. I would love to have open my trades per my rules but I have learned that EAs cannot be trusted without regular supervision. Maybe I can modify the HGB to do what I want, or maybe I'll just have to scan for trades during awake times and when not at work. Maybe I can trade in my smart phone for a tablet to get more access to my VPS. Anyway, as stated, I will only trade in the direction of the last confirmed H4 large Trend Arrow or EndOfTrend blue wavies, on the M15 taking entries only confirmed large Trend Arrows, closing on confirmed StartOfTrend yellow wavies. Unless I'm reading it wrong, it doesn't seem that HGB does precisely that, but perhaps one of the other dozens of EAs based on HGB does just that, yet that will take more time to research. Oh, well, I've got plenty of motivation to succeed.

OK, here we go ...

As per David's advice of 20 December, I've waited until today to resume HGI trading. My approach will be the same as previously stated - enter on big arrows or blue wavies only, as they appear and not waiting for the candle to close (as advised by Nanningbob), exits according to opposing signals.

I may be wrong but I think Bob enters on H4 when the signal appears. He can speak to that.

Not sure how it's going for others, but I've had 5 losses in succession since I started trading on Tuesday without any hint of profit appearing on the table. Was this still to early to start trading again? Entering on H4 big arrows and blue wavies.

I have started testing this system this week too, but started at the Asia session on Tuesday. I took H4 big arrows and also tried M15 big arrows. Most if not all M15 trades lost and frequently I got a yellow wavy to exit right after the entry so only a few small winners there. Now I do mostly H4 big arrows and occasionally M15 if I see an entry, usually at the start of the H4, especially since I have to wake up at 2 and 6 to check the charts during London and US. At the moment I have 8 open trades, only 1 is M15 for NU; 6 with SL at BE and 2 I just opened at the last H4. I am using the HGI Matrix for my signals, only trading 15 pairs like Alo does and I am using the "L" version which reads from the .lib file rather than the indicator. Current open profit (almost 10% on this demo account) minus closed trades = about 3 to 4% loss but am still learning. I am not using the 30 TP every 20 pips; may try that later. However I will enter on additional big arrows if I have an open trade already on that pair. Waiting for yellow wavies to close trades. I am also using Traders Way who has a triple Swap on Wednesdays, so may have to consider that too.

Oh, yes, sometimes the big arrow shows up a few bars late and so far I am still taking the trade. Just need to get my trade manager working properly.
