regarding profiles:

I have graded the currencies into 5 groups and given each profile a similar name, so that when I search for them they are very easy to spot.

Because I do not trade the CHF pairs, I have 5 groups of 6 pairs in profiles, as follows:

Pairs AUD.....Pairs EUR.....Pairs GBP.....Pairs JPY.....Pairs USD:
AUDCAD.......EURUSD.......EURGBP.......AUDJPY.......EURUSD
AUDJPY........EURJPY........GBPCAD.......CADJPY.......NZDUSD
AUDNZD.......EURAUD......GBPUSD.......EURJPY.......AUDUSD
AUDUSD.......EURCAD......GBPJPY.........GBPJPY.......USDJPY
EURAUD.......EURGBP.......GBPAUD.......NZDJPY.......GBPUSD
GBPAUD.......EURNZD.......GBPNZD.......USDJPY.......USDCAD

As you can see, there is a lot of repetition, but ... if I want to look at all the pairs with AUD, for example, I just click on the profile, and all 6 pairs are displayed together. I have the 6 charts on the screen, and I select "Window" from the top toolbar of Empty4, and then click on "Tile Vertically" from that drop-down menu.

All 6 charts are then perfectly sized and fitted neatly on the screen (see screen grab below).
I then load the template I want onto each chart. I then name them by clicking in "Profiles" ... "Save as"

If I expand one of these charts, then it follows that every other chart will appear as the expanded chart, but only when I click on it at the bottom tab under the charts. That stuff should be basic.

I am thinking of dropping one of the currencies from the list I follow, but not yet - I will wait until the dust begins to settle properly after this XXXJPY selling, to see how starved I become for something to trade :)

There is a very fast way to create these profiles, once you have the 6 charts . All you have to do is click on the "Market Watch" tab on the toolbar, and then find the pair you want, and LEFT click the mouse on it, and drag it into one of the charts you previously constructed. This will keep the template, but only change the currency pair. Do this 5 more times with the other 5 pairs which will make up that group eg "Pairs GBP."

The beauty of this kind of organisation, is that if the AUD is at the top of the "strongest currencies" I can look at all AUD pairs with one click ... all displayed together. It's then just a simple matter to eyeball each chart to pick the best trade out of those 6.

Nice job. I enjoy seeing the tricks that people use to set up their work station. What size monitor are you using here? A year or so ago I bought a 27 incher for my charts, and love it, but I'm not really making the best use of it and using different profiles may be the trick.

Getting confused by the multitude of threads, versions, and assorted documentation. I received Steve Hopwoods introductory email when joining this site and have read much of the forexfactory stuff but seem to be going round in circles (probably tired eyes). I assumed the numbers 10.xx were different versions of the same thing but this appears to be incorrect; there seem to be different versions for different trade scenarios or is that just me? What would be really great is to find an overview that would enable me to hang the detail on. There is a recommendation to read Marshys summary - cannot find it anywhere, does it exist?

I have managed to download and run 10.2 system successfully and managed to clock up a profit in my first day so its not all bad. Is 10.5 a different system or later version. Its a bit like having a car delivered in crates, I can see how the nuts and bolts fit together but have not got a clue how to drive it. I know the answer is to read the threads but there are so many! Any useful pointers appreciated. Thanks

Pretty much the different versions relate to Bob's different experiments.

10.4 - Is the current swing trading system. Hit that thread and read his docs.
10.5 - Is the related intraday system. Same principles. Daily pivots instead of weekly.

Skip the old stuff. If you want years of reading and to see Bob's experiments knock yourself out. He has distilled what he has learned into the current system and simplified.

Speed version -- Read the DOCS!!!. Hit the first 50 pages of the thread. And the last 20. You will be mostly up to speed at that point.

Don't get hung up on version numbering. They aren't incremental. Start with the good stuff... read the history as you have time.

Make sure the lot sizes match your brokers, for example:

.01 may mean 1 penny with one broker but ten cents to another.
.10 may mean ten cents with one broker and 1 dollar with another. .01 may not work at all with that kind of broker.

So make sure lot size is .10 if your broker is the second type of broker. .01 will never work with that kind of broker.
