Visual basic and computer programming logic. The logic course being most useful. It was taught by a really talented c++ programmer. Which I only mention because he also was a classically trained musician when he started his career in programming.
Hey, I didn't even start with the computer programming logic bit. I started with BBC Basic, then mooved to COBOL, then to VB5 then VB6. You will find MQL4 a doddle.

Think twice about ignoring Eval's move to the new indi. He doesn't pick this stuff up by sticking a pin in a screenshot of his custom indi list and hoping for the best.

Steve COBOL makes my head hurt  However just a few months from 60 a lot of things make my head hurt. They were phasing it out for c++ when I took my classes. C or mql 4 I can handle :D

No I agree that I will need to test the new indicator out a while to get the hang of it. However no use giving up on the old setup till it has a chance to run a while on Demo and prove me wrong.

Edit: False alarm sorry

Hi all, got a small problem..

I keep getting Error 130 (invalid stops . . .) on every open attempt.

I have carefully read 1st post and the post explaining how this method works.

I tried fiddling with some settings:

- changing lot size from 0.01 to 0.1
- setting stop loss to a different value
- fiddling with timecharts (m5, h1, d1)

Testing on demo accounts of: FXopen (with ECN), FXOpen (without ECN), Cowboy Go Markets.

Any tips? Thank you in advance.

Edit: False alarm sorry;
turns out there was something wrong with applying the settings I made. Empty4 can be confusing sometimes.

Changed over to 60-5 v3 and reduced the stop to 50 otherwise everything default.
The 60 minute is with the RSI filter and v3 EA.
The 240 is the original with rsi filter and leaving it alone for a month other than removing usdchf and eurchf it is the same setup.

Hi Steve, Slowkey and all,
Slowkey, you beat me to it, hahaha.
here are some of the accounts i have solely set up for Steve's Symphonie EA. I have meddled with them by closing some open , winning trades, and conitnuously change the settings. When perusing through the results or history, please mousey over the thingy(yellow idealooking) on the right of an entry. you'll see the settings i used in cuzgeorgalyphics. Something like SL/TP10/10 or BE10 or .. blah blah.

if there is no comment, it was either a manual entry or two other bliksem's i got running that don't interfere with the results as i have exluded them from the settings on MyFxBook account settings. let me know if you need a small legend or something like that, but whats more important, is look out for the rsi, slowkey and atr, asr etc settings. these vary drastically from pair to pair. i cant seem to peg one down so your help would be appreciated if you have a 'winner' set.

I will be changing settings daily, so look out for latest winners and we can take it from there. sometimes, i take drastic approaches, but with a TS, trailing stop in place, or a BE, break even. Please help share the results as Slowkey is more stable and has stuck to earlier versions and pairs. My demos are way all over the show. DO NOT TRADE LIVE, none are winning sets YET!!!!

here they are;

Firstly , the one the criminal bliksems i use ava, 5 charts are running Symphonie, and the others are one each. 1:400 leverage, 41k left in the aqccount, no metals yet. Did'nt do well initially so want to peg the currencies first before we get into gold, plat silver and copper.

http://www.myfxbook.com/members/cuzgeor ... emo/275462

This one is interesting cos the criminal bliksem does'nt allow hedging. The planks really make it hard to just break even here, so it's interesting to see how the EA go's up against them.
leverage is 1:50 , with Cowboy IBFX crim , and 50k account. Again, if there is no comment in the history tab, then it was me messing things up. sooorrrryyyy Steve.

http://www.myfxbook.com/members/cuzgeor ... emo/275462

This bliksem criminal does allow hedging, also Cowboy IBFX but is the Australian version. 50k account, 1:50 and seems to be stable also.
only one pair EURUSD here and ONLY running on 1HR chart. This is to see if the 1hr chart that so many prefer, is actually better than the 5 that i like. This one is really slow and i could use some help with the settings.

http://www.myfxbook.com/members/cuzgeor ... nie/279233

This criminal also running Steve's Symphonie exclusive. Same as all above, also Mig , hedging allowed but cant remember the leveradge.

http://www.myfxbook.com/members/cuzgeor ... rim/272937

This is CitiFX criminal, results are shocking, similar to the rest, but i just cant get a decent set here, wonder why???

http://www.myfxbook.com/members/cuzgeor ... ina/274834

There are a few more accounts, like markets.com Criminals but i think you must be tired of reading this, so let me know if you do what another set of them , hehehe.

i also need to mentionMBT criminal trader is exceptionally bad. you can see i'm running alot of criminals and rats but, none give as much problems and errors as MBT. i dont know why, the others are up most of the time and there are some disconnections , rarely, but it does happen, but MBT is exceptionally bad. cant open or close trades and all you can do is what the screen how everything is moving, connection is there, but cant trade. very ABSURD, i mean abturd.!!!

EDIT: i am running the vast majority as 5:5 and get many more positions this way. there are some at 60:50, and 15:1, but all have winners and losers.

cuzgeorge

Is this correct guys?

Notice how it opens an order and closes after minor loss (see graph), even though it is set to stoploss = 100.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

thank you!

Hi Smoochie,
did you check your BE settings and if you have a trailing stop. Also you might have the Break Even settings set to true, and if so what have you entered there.?

also, you are running 1Hr, check or play with the extreme cycle settings, 1,3,2,false,etc, try 1,3,4 true, 1,12,18(or 25)
then, what option have you chosen, try 2, as a moderate approach. you might find your broker is different to others, run a demo on another one.
hoipe something in there helps out,
regards
cuzgeorge

I am not sure what it is doing ... I also have a lot of small losers. I will study this later today when I get some time.

cuzgeorge,
I am not real familiar with a forum, and am having a problem both understanding and trying to copy what is being shown. I thought symphonie was a highly reliable and profitable system, and that i was doing something wrong because i cannot get it to work right on fxcm (with profit and frequency), but it looks like you are showing daily losses and substantial drawdowns in your various tests using the ea. What has happened between the start of the ff symphonie thread and now? is there some unknown 'personal inputs' going into manually placing trades that cannot be quantified with a mechanically trading ea? I understand that you are tweaking parameters searching for properly fitted values for different pairs, but results shown above look bad, and my trades are too. I suspect that i have some update missed as well because i get very few trades. Am i not understanding?

Latest update in post 1.

Assuming you guys have been using the previous updated version, then the most likely cause of the trade closure at a small loss is that I coded the exit strategies to apply to the LTF as well.

I have added a new input to the Exit Strategies inputs - ApplyStrategiesToLtf. If set to false (the default) S will only test the HTF for trade closure. See if this solves the problem.
