Hi Alistair, I will take any of the 3 divergence signals, provided the criteria is met with Hgi. My testing is going well, yersterdays scalps on EurUsd 147 pips. As I am scalping the 1 min chart, I am finding it very useful to have all these signals in line with sixths, with a 150 candle lookback. Somehing else I am finding necessary, is to wait for the 60 moving average to move into the upper or lower half of sixths at least before taking my trade. This prevents early entries and provides better timing. I have taken trades without a Hgi trend signal but always wait for the Hgi range wavy and trend wavy. This works well with the extra criteria mentioned just above. Cheers Leon |

Leon, I forgot to ask you this - as you are actively using HGI in conjunction with indicators such as Knoxville and Sixths, I guess you have worked out a clear approach to using HGI signals, given that they move, disappear and re-appear fairly frequently? Would you mind commenting on this, particularly in relation to H4 and D1, which are two TFs that you use (when not scalping). I started using the HGI signals as they appear (being valid at that moment), then shifted to waiting for the H4 candle to close before looking for a trade and most recently (realising that the signals continue changing long after the initial candle has closed) to using the HGI signals as merely indicating the possibility of a trade. But that's far from knowing what I'm doing! |

Alistair, I do not care about the mechanics of Hgi. When my signals are there, I trade. It's like getting into a car and driving it, whats under the hood, I do not care, as long as my engine sounds good. Kd, range wavy, trend wavy, hgi trend signal, 60 ma close to the sixths area, a valid signal for me. I am trading the 1 min timeframe manually to get a closer and quicker look at how these indicators work in relation to each other and they seem to be complimenting each other. The same approach I will take when I get a signal on hourly, 4 hourly or daily timeframe. Let's say for example I get a signal on the hourly t/frame I will use the 1 min t/frame to get the same signal. The two must match and both are to be traded in the same direction. This is how I trade. I never look at only one time frame. I like the 4hr and daily time frame but I will not trade them without looking at the smaller time frames. By delving too much into the pros and cons of Hgi you will lose your confidence in trading, so I suggest you stop that and move onto a system that you are confident with, whether it be with or without Hgi. For me Hgi is an ingredient in the recipe, but a crucial one. Cheers Leon |

Thanks for the detailed answer, useful and interesting, as your posts usually are. I think you answered my question in the first line, and if I understand you correctly, you trade the signals as they appear and you don't bother with whether they later move, disappear or re-appear. Obviously in conjunction with KDI, Sixths etc. Thanks Alistair |

This is something you have to work out for yourself. What goes on under the hood is secret. I believe Bob mentioned this in post 1, or maybe the pdf, or somewhere. Whatever, it is common knowledge as is the reason why - fully supported by me. Always best to read stuff here before posting a question that could get you into trouble.  |

Hello. I have this problem, when I have opened Empty4 with HGI and little more others indicator, big arrow (trend alerts) does not come. I must always reload indicators, or change timeframe for new possible signals. Is this normal attribute, or I can try another settings? Can anybody help me please? Sorry for my noob question. Many thanks for your reply Tommaso. Logs not contained any error. I hoped, that this condition is caused by my indicator settings - when "KeepHistory" is ON for example. I post solution here, when I find it. Nice day! PS: Excuse my terrible English please. |
