I am very impressed with how this handled the NFP. DEMO, OOTB, not exp. See below screenshot for hands off running through NFP. |

Hmm.. I guess this is fine tuning and why we are doing practice laps. I'm in the pits and plugged in the computer then out on qualifying tyres again Regards, Tony Edit: just a thought but try different time frames for your graph, I see that it is M15, mine might be M5 and could be stretched out a bit, I'll try it here. Edit 2: Maybe we should standardise the report time frame to make it easier for the intelligentsia to assess what we are reporting (?) |

That's good that it dealt with NFP today .. and where there is a breakout into a new range like this it seems this is handled well. Where there is a more extreme reaction and extended one way movement following news like earlier in the week with AUD pairs then if the majority position is against the move recovery will be next to impossible. I have had a multi pair demo running all week which tells this story as per the screenshot below although I did not upgrade to the experimental version as I wanted to see whether this account would recover. It hasn't and next week I will restart the demo on all pairs with the experimental version as I am very happy with it's work on my live GJ account since I upgraded mid week. I am fairly confident that hedging during major news and over the weekend will be the safest way to mitigate risk with this beast and since it does so well just picking up where it left off that makes this easy. Wishing everyone a great weekend |

With the current developments this test become unnecessary, still I post the results here for anyone interested. I'll stop and replace this test with the one requested, "barebones" vs "fullauto". Still strange differences between the two settings. Take notice of the fact that these two EA's made nearly 7% during last week, trading 0.01 lots per $2.000.... The 'OFF' version made 50% more profit than the 'ON' version. Details; http://www.fxblue.com/users/2044051/stats |

Dear Steve and Bruster, Thank you for the EA. It works really great. I have been playing with several grid EAs but Rinse'n Repeat seems to be a smart grid EA. However, the weak point of this strategy is when the market start to trend with very small retrace then DD becoming larger and larger until the whole account collapse. With Bruster's idea of the recovery mode. This is the good solution. But I have tried many settings and they seem do not work quite well. I would like to propose this idea as an additional option in the recovery mode. The idea is; Once the maximum Buy has been reached and EA is in recovery mode, EA will not open more Buy. Then every grid level where there is no order (weather above or below the "Yellow line"), EA will open only Sell orders. For the maximum Sell has been reached and EA is in recovery mode, EA will not open more Sell. Then every grid level where there is no order (weather above or below the "Yellow line"), EA will open only Buy orders. Imagine that when price start the downtrend. Many Buy orders are opened. The purpose of recovery is to take out the top buy order. And normally it will need many Sell orders to close just a Buy. If price keeps moving downward then more and more buys are opened mean less and less chance to close all those buys unless price make a reversal. I know it always reverse to the original but I am not sure that my account will survive until then. So, in downtrend if Buy has reached the maximum then more Sell must be opened when price retrace so when it continue its downward move, more chance for those sells to offset the buys. Sorry for my bad English. Any comment to my above additional option for the recovery mode are very welcome. Ming |

Ming, This idea is already an optional part of the recovery mode - you can turn off placing buy or sell trades when either max buys or max sells has been hit. What I'm not prepared to change is the placing of sell trades above the BaseLine as this is a fundamental part of how this bot trades - sells when price is falling, buys when price is rising. My testing of restricting buys and sells in recovery mode suggested that it doesn't help. If you stop adding buys when max buys has been reached you miss out on closing any of those higher DD buys on any retrace and that seems to be an important part of the recovery. The bot already has a lot of unproven options built in and for the moment I'm just keen to refine these through testing before adding any more. Bruster |
