Back on topic...

Steve, the fully auto version of the ea took a buy trade on gbpjpy this morning. Even though I was watching it on my semi auto version, I didn't take the trade as it was 'too line ball' for me.

I've attached a screenshot of the chart and stoch's and you will see that the signal line was just touching the 20 level and in my opinion not a clear indication to trade.

Is it possible to build in a buffer to allow the signal more of a 'clear' cross of the 80/20 levels before a trade is triggered?
I think this will reduce the number of trades taken that don't really have enough momentum to cross clearly out of ob/os and end up in a loss.

Hi to all,,
A simple method to resolve this problem could be to put the signal line to 75/25 instead 80/20.

It all depends how your mind works, Shelley. jjgengis' suggestion will clearly work as well as keeping the current settings and including an extra 'buffer' input, and cut out an extra input.

You can have whatever you want. If you can keep the position clearer in your head by keeping ob/os at 80/20 and having a buffer, then I can add this in seconds. Just say what you want.

I have had a few trades fail with this error
"2012.01.09 09:04:40 Gday AUDUSD,Daily: AUDUSD Gday OP_SELL order send failed with error(132): market is closed"
I am with AxisTrader and it seems they close for a short time at the start of the day.
Is it possible to put in an option for a delay after the new bar is started or retry the trade after a minute?

The code should force the ea to keep trying to send the trade. Anyone spotting a flaw here, please sing out.

As to AxisTrader, stopping trading at the start of a new D1 candle, however briefly, is a blatant move to disarm EA's that enter trades at the start of a new D1 candle.

I suggest you tell them to fuck off and move your funds elsewhere. It is the only language these cretins understand.

Cheers

Hi Steve, thanks for your response and willingness to keep working on the ea...

For me personally using the Semi Auto version allows me to visually check the charts and make a final decision on whether to trade or not which is my personal preference brought about by exactly this type of scenario where the signal is virtually line ball.

Notwithstanding, I understand (for a variety of reasons) people may well prefer to use the full auto version and I think on this basis we should at least try changing the entry criteria based on jjgengis' suggestion...only thing is, I'm not sure if 75/25 is necessary, as I think (and through experience) as long as there is some 'air' between the signal line crossing that is enough, so perhaps 78/22 would be sufficient. It's really only to stop the trades where the signal line is sitting at 20.25 or 79.8, but will just allow one more day for the signal to clearly confirm or not.

Hope this makes sense ;)

thanks again

I'm new to Empty4 and a long time since I coded so I could very easily be way off

This is in the send single trade function, inside a for(;;) loop

Code: Select all

         Print(Symbol(), " ", WindowExpertName(), " ", stype," order send failed with error(",err,"): ",ErrorDescription(err));
         return(false);
Won't the "return (false)" part exit the function completely rather than go through the loop again?
