I've got the dashboard to change to W1 - D1, was missing 1 input! Thing is, I remember now it slows down my charts something terrible?!

Oh my! :o I can't believe I missed closing my CADJPY short and taking a long. Also still have EURJPY short.
This is what I don't like about not using stops. I've done well with an account by not using a stop then the DD got too overwhelming for me and I lost half my capital when i closed the trades. I'll have to find a way of placing a stop or not trade the method. I also need to reduce the number of pairs I'm following.

How's everyone else faring? Maybe you've all got some JPY trades going the right way!

Well, it's nice to finally see some green! Who was still holding their GBPJPY? I was and now I'm locked in at BE +5  Mind, I am in the hole on NZDJPY now :arrrg: but this is exactly what higher timeframe trading is about.

It's almost the close of trading and I have profit locked in on the following trades:

USDJPY +300
CADJPY +200
EURUSD be+5
GBPJPY be+5 (after being around 1000 pips in the red a couple of weeks ago)
AUDNZD be+5
GBPUSD be+5

EURAUD was closed at the start of the week at -230 and then annoyingly I forgot to mark my chart with the new line and missed the sell trade on Thursday that would have been at BE+5 now as well :arrrg:

That's great results for this week...you started right when the markets started to resume the trend. The rest of us have been waiting out some significant drawdown over the last 2/3 weeks (I think mine was around -3000 pips overall at its worst) so make sure you have the patience and the margin to get through those times as well.

Keep us updated with your results

I just saw these 2 posts on Pipcrusher thread http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=5&t=3874which I wanted to share here as I am sure many people have the same sentiment as AGT. IMO Matt's response is exactly how I am reading the longer term trend and trading it here and exactly why I was willing to hold the GBPJPY trade...

Or can the technical code predict the future J.Y.'s speech directed yesterday ... ? :?
Or in words ... in fact it was more luck wasn't it ? :)

OK the sudden move itself was lucky but .....the truth is that this strategy follows the big trends (monthly & weekly) which in my opinion encapsulate the long term sentiment of the market (fundamentals inluded).

So in other words if you stick to long term the moves sooner or later will come and then ......

Well done!! How I admire talented people! I tried to change the dashboard into W1/D1 but it didn't change the whole lot. I like the way you have it on each chart also. Neat!
Is that version of histo you have set to the same 1 / 20 ma's? It is very different to what either the weekly or daily is showing on the same pair for me?! Is it weekly or daily? Mine is not changing like that.

My chart and histo's.

Hello Cherry.

I hope I didn't confuse everyone with my indicators...

For quite a while I have used the same indicators that help me determine trend direction.
I Use 1) Multi-Timeframe MACD, 2) Multi-Timeframe ADX, and 3) HMA(27) moving average.

I did not put the multi-time frame moving average on my chart, because I am using the MTR_Trading_System indicator and the MTF dashboard that shows the same info.

I hope that clears things up.

When you changed the dashboard for W1/D1, did you change the timeframe to 1440 and the MSCS_Period to 10080 ?

Trade Well....

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your reply and confirming the HMA27 is a different indi.

You may have noticed my next post, I did get the dashboard settings changed but it slows down my platforms too much. I had tried the single one before on the lower timeframe. It looks good but I liked to see on the histo just when the change happened as on the dashboard you don't know. With daily though this is not such an issue. The problem is the slowing down, maybe due to my internet here not being fast enough.

I'm interested to know if your stops are discretionary or using set pip values? It looks discretionary. How do you find they are working out for you? I have started looking at using a SL as the large DD is a concern to me. If we make several more small losses using stops the good gains that seem possible should out weigh the losses.
Your thoughts on this will be appreciated though I don't wan't to discredit Shelley's more mechanical method, using stops would suit my style far better.

Thanks again. Hope this week gives you more pips! :)

Hi Cherry, thanks for the response.

I haven't had any problems with my system slowing down due to the dashboard, I do have a fast internet, so maybe that is the problem...

For stop losses, yes they are discretionary.
Once I get it a position, I immediately place a SL at a logical support/resistance area that is fairly far out.
I look at the current volatility of the market and base the distance on that.
Then my priority is to get the SL to BE as quick as possible, but keeping some breathing room to allow the trade to mature. I keep an eye on the directional indicators - if they start to go against my position, I will tighten up the stops and/or take off a partial position.

The past weeks trades, I was a little concerned about the markets and keeping trades overnight.
I had about 10 positions open with a lot of exposure of the USD and JPY, so each time a position got to about 150 pips I would take off a 1/3 partial position.

I was also NOT taking all the pairs when signals came up. If they were already at a support or resistance area, I would wait to see what direction it was going to take.

I am running an experiment : I setup a demo account and will be running all signals to let them run until either SL or TP is hit. Should be interesting.

Trade Well

Michael

I appreciate you sharing Michael, just be clear in future to state you are using different indicators or method as it can be confusing, especially for people just arriving at the thread. Of course there is no reason you can't start your own thread either where you can discuss your methods/indicators.
