Ingot,

I believe you are referring to volume analysis rather than the content of what i actually posted. Even though volumes are different across LP, when the fox moves, the VOLUME that he is moving is typically enough to reflect correctly across most LP, this is because the FOX does not just takes from a single LP, it takes from MANY LP.

Volume analysis by itself may or may not be insignificant. In my 101 i mentioned it as one of the parameters when deciding. You sum all of them to come up with the final probability of whether the trade is going to be a good trade or not.

For a start i dont recommend looking at volume since it is highly subjective, you have to put it in context e.g which session did this volume come from, is this the 2nd leg of a M or W, which level or push is it, is it a BARF setup...

As Morpheus said:
This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember, all I'm offering is the truth – nothing more.
Once you take the red pill, understand the truth, you will be able to trade with confidence. I know some of you know these answers, some might have even got them down pat as instinct.

Most don't, some have it as a hit and miss, Some need indicators to point the way, but that's trading the pattern without understanding the why. Sure that might work, but until when?

PA, VSA, Candlestick patterns, MA, S/R, FIB, CSS are all there for the taking, use them the wrong way and you will get bitten. Thats because you are blindly using them without ACTUALLY understanding what is happening.

I took the red pill once, and thats where the 101 thread was born. Somewhere along the line i got lost and everything turned to crap. Its been a yo-yo trip for me since i first viewed CJ's thread. Seeing, unseeing, seeing, unseeing..

So now thats the challenge i'm putting forth to myself. To answer those questions by myself before i get back into the game. I want to stay on the dark side, and not keep switching between both sides of the mirror
So true. So so true.

But in the mean time, the beat goes on, and it's back to the drawing board!

I owe, I owe
So off to work I go!

Wishing every one a good week.

Not one person could answer Kwanann's question. Nor could anyone explain the structure, order flow, or strategy actually used at each point in the process. Banteka's theory does not match CJ's. I understand some don't wish to convert their minds to a puddle of goo on the floor. We are all at different points in the journey. In fact all those questions and their answers become instinct over time. But make no mistake the predator knows each and every variation, and exactly when to execute.

Mike
Apologies Mike - I misunderstood the depth of your point.

I believe(d) that CJ had dealt with these issues:

  • What are the actual trades that have to happen to print the M or W?
  • Why does it work. Over and Over?
  • Where is the best place to run this gambit?
  • When is this most likely to occur?
... but not from the angle/depth we are discussing.

I believed (? wrongly) that we were attempting to re-define the approach, through introducing a new level of analysis. CJ didn't go this deep, as far as I could see. I am still getting used to simple Pins, M's, W's, levels, and "don't wish to convert their (my) mind(s) to a puddle of goo on the floor."

Because Volume is an unknown quantity (compare a few Empty4 platforms - is the volume the same with say Global Prime compared to FXCM?) I (personally) think my small brain has enough variables to compute already.

But as I said before - I am supportive of anything that moves the concept of tackling the fox further forward. There is enough reading in the thread for me at this point, without any need for me to participate further, until I feel I am ready for it.

I am about making a few pips - I don't have to make ALL the pips. As CJ said - you can make as much from 50 pips as you can from 500 ... that's my approach, and it is clear to me.

Ingot54,

There you are, exactly, if you read the first 120 Pages of the Naked trading Thread 4 Times over and you Understand what you have Read Reasonably Well, by the fifth time which will be at least 7 yo 9 Weeks after You Began the First Read, you go over what you have Read AGAIN and you should be Trading Slightly Profitably, if by then you have not gotten a few Profitable trades behind you then I am Afraid NAKED TRADING is Not for You.

No worries. I always appreciate your perspective. My post was not personal, just my thoughts on the true depth, and implications of Kwanann's question.

You are correct in your assessment of our current volume discussion. As you use it trading other instruments, it is easy to see its relevance as the only additional information we have that is NOT based on price. Whether VSA in its minutiae is relevant here I really don't know. But I LOVE to study and explore new ideas. Especially if we use them contrary to the masses.

My bias towards the value in this thread is viewpoint, mindset, and strategy. The technicals are not revolutionary. CJ's application, explanation, and execution is based on a truly unique viewpoint. I can only relate it to level 2 thinking in poker or chess. We move from "What I see in front of me." To "What does my opponent see." or "What does he want me to see." Thankfully the market is so large and exploitable, they don't go deeper, imho.

When that starts to connect with your intuition and experience. It is a truly awesome shift. It blows up your old models and analysis, and creates all kinds of new problems. :)

I don't know how many will connect with CJ's true wisdom. For me this was a visceral experience, that has only led me to want to search even deeper. We have been exposed to less than the tip of the iceberg. CJ's rabbit hole is DEEEEP. That depth is rare anywhere let alone on the net.

Keep learning and having fun. Speak your mind round here. It is awesome to see people grasp these concepts. Best thing I ever did was take a risk putting my thoughts and trades out there right or wrong.

But that is exactly my point, Xris, and no, don't be sad or afraid for my sake. I am a bit quicker on the uptake than the readings and progress you are suggesting (thankfully). I find your post less encouraging and more condescending than I normally like, but will put it down to the blurry communication we sometimes get on internet discussions.

I have already demonstrated here:

http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 059#p71059

that I am trading profitably, and did so according to the guidelines, when there were posters on the thread who were openly skeptical of my trade. I persisted and nailed it.

The pages following from that link, showed in detail exactly how I traded it, and I am happy about my progress and success. You may not have read my posting, thus your judgement.

I have no issues with what I know that I know. I have no self doubt, and I don't question whether "Naked Trading" is for me or not.

Don't know how you see fit to question that, from what I have posted.

My progress is probably at about the same level as yours was a couple of months ago. We are all getting there.

But I am not going to allow myself to become diverted by the distraction currently offered, by the (apparent) next level, which is the direction this thread is now going. I have not the slightest interest in volume analysis - I have been down that road on another forum. It will end, in my humble view, like the others do - inconclusive, and relying on rubbery numbers. There is enough in the original approach, for any trader to become fantastically successful, if they will only focus and master O-N-E thing. But that's for each of us to know and to decide.

For some, the game is more important than the score. Trading is a deadly serious game, and the score is everything. If you can improve your score by including volume analysis, then more power to you, and you have all the encouragement from me that I can offer.

It seems to me we have come to a fork in the road, and I am going to take my leave from further open interest. I am happy with that, and everyone else should be too. There is little else I can contribute now.

I encourage you to continue, and to develop this idea.

From my point of view, I have a couple of maxims that have served me well in life:

1) You can not chase 2 rabbits.
2) Do What You Do Do Well.

I appreciate the teaching I have freely received here, and hope I can give back at some point.
But I am staying down a grade for this semester ... with no regrets.

I like the charts man. I'm just waiting for a hint when London comes online. We were just hanging around the open too much for my taste. Could yank around a bit or go hunting before the real move. Closed my EURAUD an UJ shorts. May re-enter.

Probably get short EUR vs whatever is strong soon.

Ingot54,

Please let me Kindly Correct Myself as I think you totally misunderstood the Point I was trying to Get Across, I had totally Agreed with you in Relation to the Points your Good Self had Stated in your earlier Post
exerts of which are Below:

The Comment I Passed about Reading and Understanding the Concept coupled with the Profitable Trades was meant as a General comment for Anyone trying to get to Grips with Naked Trading, it was my fault as I had Omitted the fact that it was not meant SPECIFICALLY for You. Please excuse my Haste to get my Point Across without adding the General Prefix, I put my Hand up and Express my Profound Apologies. I hope this clears up any Misconception of my earlier on Comments.

Green pips folks. I think I'm treating myself to a real nights sleep.

Been having fun with small targets. Trades automatically set to TP at 20 pips. If I want to stay in I have to keep on adding winning positions. I've given myself the leeway to let 2nd position and beyond run. Trying to create the habit of stacking winners, I often do... but this forces my hand and very frequent evaluation of the trade.

Hope to learn something interesting. Re-entering a move, and re-entering a trend are things I can improve. Good luck all.

Xris - you are very gracious mate - thanks for clearing that up.

Internet communication does not allow for errors in how things are really meant, and I apologise for being a teeny bit precious about it. ;)

I am hoping you guys can break new ground with this Volume approach.

Post subject:  Re: The Captains Chest - Naked Trading & Other Stuff

Let me set a few things in order here. Volume is not a measure of "orders". Volume as presented to you by the platform, is nothing more than "activity" in a pair. It is indicative of "price ticks", be they up or down. Nothing more and nothing less. It is local to your chosen broker and varies with each, unless they are a "white box" or branded server on a larger net.

I have not brought up anything about using volume. Those who seek to improve their trading by using VSA or any other flavor or system based on it are welcome to do as they see fit, but it should be confined to the area of this forum for "indicators". Not the main thread as it adds confusion and it is not a method I use.

BARF is another thing and different from the topic of this thread. Again, those who wish to discuss trades based on the BARF pattern should do so in a separate thread and not here. If you wish to study BARF, read the PDF sent here from FXAW, I will not start again as it's all been said there. If there is any further confusion about my view of broker provided volume, READ the pdf and you will see that I define it as "tick volume".

As stated previously, price ticks increase when "transactions" take place and the more transactions, the larger or more active the ticks become.
