I had a demo account with them for a while but can't use them live because they had to stop accepting US clients. |

Yes AVAFX is a penny account you can trade 0.01 lots and you can hedge too. They are based out of Ireland. 4x |

Hi Gary, Correct. They do accept USA citizens and do not enforce any hedging or FIFO rules. I've asked them about their intent on keeping USA clients and they currently are planning on supporting USA clients with no restrictions. Although, it's something I have a plan for in case they decide to close my account. I was with Cowboy Go Markets (great broker) when they decided to dump their USA clients. I was a bit upset at that to say the least. I'm very happy with HotForex, but I'm also looking to diversify with another broker or two. FinFx, SmartTradeFX and TradePoint are at the top of my list for additional accounts. |

I found this while looking around for the Oanda magic number issue. April 07, 2011 11:50 AM: Thank you for contacting OANDA. The comments field on the order window on the OANDA Empty4 platform is used by OANDA as OANDA Empty4 writes the ticket id on the comment field. You will not be able to use this field with your Expert Advisors. Additonally Magic Numbers are not supported with the OANDA Empty4 platform. If your EA or third party site uses this field, please contact them about an alternative method you can use. Brian, "Execution only" simply refers to live trades, as these are bridged to fxTrade for execution, unlike Empty4 demo trades. It's important to note that if you are trading EAs live with Oanda Empty4 it is entirely possible that we won't notice anything wrong straightaway or, possibly, ever - unless something goes wrong and we lose money as a result. For example, if an EA uses market orders instead of pending orders then, as I understand it, the magic number shouldn't be an issue. Similarly, the trade comment field may be irrelevant to the functioning of an EA. But the point is ... we need to be made aware just in case and Oanda haven't exactly been forthcoming in this regard - not best practise IMO. And it makes me wonder about other crims ... |

One thing I don't think has been stressed enough here is what type of broker you should use based on the type of EA you have. If you use a regular broker, they are taking a position opposite of yours. In other words, it is in their best interests if you lose. If you are scalping, they have more opportunity to stack the odds against you by filtering the feeds, delaying them, having bigger spreads etc. If you are swing trading, a few pips may not matter as much, but on a scalper this could be the difference between a real winner and a money loser. If you are using scalping EA's, I think you are much better off with a STP/ECN broker. One of the EA's I use has had only one SL since the summer of 2010 on TheCollective and FinFx, but other users have complained about a number of stop losses using other brokers. Even then you need to be careful and read the small print. Some so called ECN brokers will take a counter position at times. Not surprisingly, their customers don't seem to get as good feeds and have worse spreads than others. |

Here is what I just received from Oanda Thank you for contacting OANDA. We are not supporting so called Magic Numbers on our Empty4, as well as 'is demo' in the MQL code. So if a EA is especially designed for a demo account, it won't work. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
