Here is a MTF HAS indicator and HAS settings changed to 1, 333, 1, 1. With a trailing or jumping stop of 50 results should be better. Unfortunately if this doesn't help I'll give up on the EA LOL and realize that trading is half discretionary.

How about using code from a breakout indicator to turn off trading during ranging periods. Here's a quick sample, I dropped Sqaulou's breakout box indicator on your template with a 1H chart and it pretty easily tracked ranging periods.

This is my first post and first Thanks Steve for this forum, been a quiet admirer of your work. Anyway Johnny2pips Thanks for sharing your system in case it may possibly help the Ea did a quick code cleanup of the ha smooth(was using MODE_high,low,close,open supposed to be PRICE_high,low,close,open) and double cci, and this mtf Has was posted on Tsd forum earlier today.Hope this helps.

Hey guys, fantastic to see what is going on here. A very warm welcome to a new coder - FX Juju. All coders are desperately needed here. :lol:

I am only posting because I happened to read this thread tonight and there seems to be a certain reliance on backtesting results (and I really did 'happen to read' - I am not some sort of all-seeing ethereal entity :lol: )

Ignore backtest results guys, whether positive or negative. As I understand it, ST software extrapolates tick data from bars in its history; it does not actually hold the tick data. Then we have the spread, which is the current spread and not that used back at the time of the trade.

So, ST results are simply guesswork and should be ignored. Forward testing on demo gives a better idea of an EA's profitability. Even then, there are problems but that is a different story; at least they are based on ticks coming into the platform.

Unless you are smart and using actual tickdata that does not get extrapolated, as well as actual variable spreads. Granted, it is probably a rare case that you see someone that bothers to go thru all this work, but some of us do :)

Yup, that's it.. great indicator for ranging breakouts and very configurable.
