Hi friends,

I have finished the programming of the stacking code (it works by now with version 509 and experimenting with version 600...). There are still some task to complete:

1. Programming the closing of oposite positions at a profit.
2. Determine the money management.
3. Refine the grid distance, take profit and stop loss.
4. Control the DD.
5. If successful, go to live to the Canary Islands :cheer: .

Hi friends,

a new week for the people who is trading (demo or live). The best for you.

I received an email stating that I am an expert in grid trading (which honour!!!). I can only say that in forex and EAs (and now in Empty4) is very difficult to remain expert. The market is so chaotic that I had to reread some books that I had forgotten. This month I have had to read another time the following books, that I recommend:

-The (mis)Behavoir of markets. A fractal view of Risk, Ruin and Reward (Benoît Mandelbrot and Hudson).
-A Mathematician plays the Stock Market (John Allen Paulos).
-Fooled by randomness (Nassim Nicholas Taleb).
-What the Dog Saw and Other Adventures (Malcom Gladwell).
-The Drunkard's walk. How Randomness Rules Our Lives (Leonard Mlodinov).
-The BOCPD algorithm:http://mlg.eng.cam.ac.uk/pub/pdf/TurSaaRas09.pdf
-Caos, fractales y cosas raras (Eliezer Braun).

Speaking of my live account, I think I have solved:

1- the stacking paradox (when to open, how many to open, where to put the trailing stop).
2 -the closing of oposite positions (buy and sell) at a profit.
3- the money management (in a multipair grid EA with 26 available pairs a lot over 0.01 for 5,000 euros is a suicide, unless you have an stop loss), what arises the following problem:

4-The points remaining (the DD and the stop loss) are the more difficult. Where to put the stop loss in a grid, non-martingale system ? I think I will need months to solve this question. But meanwhile, let's make some pips. ;)

Hi friends,

today is the end of another trading week and for me is time to recap about my live account and other things:

-It has been a profitable week (6,6%) and I am under my allowed DD of 25%.

-I do not use indicators for the long term trend and for that I have some "lonely" positions. But who knows in forex about the trend?

-I have made many mistakes constructing the EA that trades my live account. These mistakes were produced by the stress of trading real money, but it is an experience that all of you have to suffer sooner or later. At the end I have learned to dominate the panic of the economic news. I am sure that if I have been pure rational and not going to hack my EA constantly, my DD would have been the half.

-Also I do not have stop losses. Why? I do not know where to put them. Simply that. I prefer to take contrary positions and stacking if a pair does not go well. You can think that I will have some DD, but the gain has proven to be higher than the DD via stacking.

-I am suffering the strength of the GBP and the fall of the JPY, but I am applying good MM and my EA is opening more contrary positions to balance these currencies.

-Another important thing to consider is that the EA has two ways of entering positions and four ways of exiting in profit. My conclusion is that (as in war) entries are important, but you must plan your exits.

-I want to arise a question: why is so difficult to find people who are showing their results (demo or real) via myfxbook?

-Finally, I am reading at the moment the revision of one classic that is very, very interesting:
Fred Schwed's Where are the Customers' Yachts?: A modern-day interpretation of an investment classic, by Leo Gough:

The title of this 1955 book refers to a story about a visitor to New York who admired the yachts of the bankers and brokers. Naively, he asked where all the customers' yachts were? Of course, none of the customers could afford yachts, even though they dutifully followed the advice of their bankers and brokers. Full of wise contrarian advice and offering a true look at the world of investing, Where are the customers' yachts continues to open the eyes of investors to the reality of Wall Street. Here, Leo Gough’s interpretation of Where are the customer’s yachts illustrates the timeless nature of Fred Schwed’s insights by bringing them to life through 52 modern case studies. This brilliant interpretation is an entertaining accompaniment to one of the most famous books on investment ever written.

This statement is Forex in a nutshell. Seriously.

"-I want to arise a question: why is so difficult to find people who are showing their results (demo or real) via myfxbook?"

Real account, slow and steady: http://www.myfxbook.com/members/nonline ... 13k/531076

My Greta is just getting started and is on myfxbook, but I need to upload the myfxbook for the new build to get it current. :P

Only a great thinker can confess something like that about stop losses. I´m also trying to learn this way of manage the losses, using your Matilda set for Blessing with microlots, sometimes to hedge, sometimes to stack in martingala style. In fact, this should be the first practice in forex: to learn the management of opened positions. No indicators, no stop losses, just management. The only indicator I´m using now is one that spot in the chart the breakeven line for multiple positions.

Hi, nonlinear.

Your live account looks great! Are you using !Xmeter friday13k OOTB there?

Cheers.

Yes 13k, but not OOTB. Running at low risk, settings in the thread. One should modify the set to ones own style and trading conditions.

My process of constructing and using an EA live

Post by jlcgarcia »

Hi friends,

I want to show you how the EA that is trading my live account has evolutionated from the beginning.

At first, as I have told you in another post, I conducted an analysis of what I thought were the best grid EAs of some forums, the best indicators, etc. As a result here are the different versions of the process:

-v1. I made a basic grid EA, with trailing and stacking, money management, multipair, trading all the pairs in buy and sell without limitations, and using coverage.

-v2. Added correlation to restrict the number of pairs.

-v3. Filter the pairs: only buy or sell for the same pair.

- v4. Added an indicator for trading only in the direction of the long trend.

-v5. Trading only with swap positive.

-v6. Limiting the number of operations in which the same currency can intervene.

-v7. Removed the coverage.

-v8. Restricting manually the currencies that can be bought or sold.

-v9. Added another indicator for the medium trend, and other for the short trend.

-v10. Limitation of the total number of pairs traded, and the maximum trades for each pair.

For each version I opened a new demo without modifying the money management (0.01 lots for every 5,000 euros). But after the refining from the version v1 to the v10 the results were not better and the first version was the winner (taking into account DD and gains).

Then I remembered that in forex as in economics or politics there is a fundamental principle: KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid), and for that I am trading live v1.

José Luis, that is a very interesting evoulotion to your trading. Just looking, it would seem that V1 through V5 would be worth keeping, but apparently your experimentation proves otherwise.

Excellent results, bravo!

Hi,

this post is only to remind you that I am still here with my live account (Maribel II), and a new very risky multipair demo (0,01 lots for 5,000 euros ) using a new EA (Maribel III).
