When I have some spare time I am definitely going to look into coding one. Might be a while, but when done the indie will be shared here.

The contrary... impossible to make any indi for volume because the total volume in forex is unknown to everybody. Including Banks or whosoever. Too long to explain. Usually, when someone realize it, they tend to go on different directions with their quest.

The only thing available or valuable to "single" institutions is "their own" order book. But missing the other 99,999999999 info of the market. That Allows them, in a tiny bit, to market make their own clients. But
anyway, in forex, orders books are more false then a 3 dollar bill.

Bottom line. People that talk about volume indis for forex, either do not understand the forex market or
setting you up to sell you useless crap.

So tired of this argument, it is tick volume we know this. It can provide an edge if used correctly with traditional price action. More of an edge than any squiggly lines, histograms or any other color changing indicator people use put all their faith in

:arrrg: I'm also so sick of this argument. Tick volume has been proven to be MORE reliable by professional FX traders. People that bring up this argument on every forum have NO idea regarding this subject. :arrrg:

I am also tired to argue. Tick volume correlates nearly in 80-90% with "real" volume. That is pretty enough :-)
And volume on futures market is very good as well. High frequency trading spreads "right" price and volume over all markets very quickly (spot, furures. ETF, CDF and so on).

It is ok to be tired of the argument. But is true. Do not get upset with a true fact.
It is a friendly reminder that "real volume" is unknown.
Tick volume is meaningless. (defined as the number of times the "quotes" changes in a X time). No professionals it . The concept is so tragic that It is almost funny.

Come on ZenTrader.... "Tick volume correlates nearly in 80-90% with "real" volume. That is pretty enough :-)"???

How would anybody know the correlation when the real volume is unknown?

In top of that, even if volume was known.... still would mean little for any analysis.
The nature of forex is completely different then regulated /centralized markets.

Guys, Re-read this thread in a few years and see if you have changed your thinking. No point in keep the argument unless someone present some facts on the subject.

Hi,

read:

Maybe this article is a fake, I do not know. My common sense says that there must be strong correlation between "real" and tick volume. I guess about 80%. Compare Tick volume of big forex liquidity providers, futures markets, ETF and so on. You will find similar patterns.
