11.0 trading sessions

Another small problem, "11.0 SessionBox_And_SessionOpen 10 x20" work in GMT 0 platform is not very perfect.

Send pic and issue to Elixe and see what he says. I dont use the session boxes since they are not needed with this trading system. They were left in from Bold Traders session box indi. That was the base of the system. I keep the Session box to False when I use the indi. If you are trying to use the Session box with this indi from page 1 post 1, they are the same indi and will conflict on the screen. Make sure you are only using one indi. Set the session box to true and see if that works. If you still have problems ask Elixe to look at it.

This is probably due to the Sydney sessions being an another day on brokers with GMT-0 to GMT+2, the box display is very basic and doesn't handle sessions overlapping days.
You can try to switch the sessions by making Tokyo the first one, Sydney the last one and making it end a midnight.

I'll take a look at how I can enhance the session display tonight if I have some time

Edit : Tokyo & Sydney are most likely the issue as in GMT they overlap a day.

You have already mentioned that Tokyo and US sessions are better suited to this strategy. If we were to nominate the best session it may further enhance the success rate of this method. I have studied some charts and based on this very limited observation the US session has my vote. It would be useful to know what other traders think. In particular traders who specialize in this type of trading.

USA session because it is the back half of the Euro and front end of USA has always been the most volatile. Through the years it has driven me nuts but that is the way it is. The one drawback I can see with this system is spread widening by brokers/banks. Probably this would not be real good on big news days where news story breaks at 830 open. Other than that it looks good.

Right now my job I am teaching at 830 open so unless I get a good ea working or MPTM I will have a hard time trading the USA session. The one thing about the indi is you can set it for different times. I am curious at how it looks at the EURO close. Set an open bar there and see what it does. So this system has its variations waiting to be explored.

The '11.0 SessionBox_And_SessionOpen 10x20' relies on the

Code: Select all

CurTime()

function, which has been earmarked as obsolete by Metaquotes for some years now. It is better to use:

TimeCurrent()

which replaces CurTime().

Better still and new for build 600+ is:

Code: Select all

TimeGMT()

which tells the time in GMT. This means a user input for the brokers day change is no longer required.

A cheque of demo dollars isn't going to do much, but I always said whoever gets me on the path to consistent profitable trading I'll hook that brother or sister up.

I have been lucky and have been profitable but its a grind. Day in and day out, nothing has been simple. Problem is I am down to Oanda, a foreign broker, or CitiBank. If this works I will stay with a USA broker and not worry about dealing with a foreign broker. I have tried a half dozen foreign brokers and this maybe sound funny but Easy-Forex was the best one. I had the least amount of problems with my trades with them and got my check when I asked for it. Of course it took a pile of paperwork but I got the money. Anyway, I will fund a broker this week and be back to live trading. I am trading some other accounts but the stupid GBP run up before the election messed me up some. Wish that thing would get back to following the euro back down.

Anyway if this works I can kiss chart study and fundamentals down the drain. Just be stupid and follow the colored bar. Dah green buy ............. dah red sell................. cant get any easier than that.

Check your sessoin starting time with the indi. Maybe a broker thing?? It is possible to have a difference maybe???

Since I am in NY using FXCM for broker does anybody know what the correct settings for this might be?
