George (919gilead) approached me sometime ago to develop a dashboard, to help him with his manual trading. This resulted in the Multi Currency MTF Dashboard thread under the Manual Trading Systems. Sometime later it was suggested that George's manual trading strategy could/should be automated. That resulted in the attached MAD-EA.

The Moving Average Dashboard-EA trades strong currencies against weak currencies. How it works out when a currency is strong or weak is explained in the attached MadUserGuide.pdf. Before installing the EA, do read the user guide. It is highly recommended to use the MAD-EA initially as a dashboard and enter and exit trades manually (You can configure the EA to not trade). Or you can allow the EA to enter trades, but close them manually. The EA is a tool, that requires a competent driver. Steve's fifth commandment (under SERIOUS WARNING) is particularly applicable to this EA.

It is hoped that this thread will spin-off a lively discussion on how to use this tool, what settings work and don't work and how to improve the entry/exit rules. I will leave it to George to lead that discussion, as he has been trading and improving the strategy for the last 5 years.[/hide]

Has anyone tested this with a suffix broker? Mine has an i at the end of all of the pairs and I cannot get it to trade over the past two days.

I read a discussion that spanned several messages somewhere - either here or the indicator thread I think, blowed if I can find it again - about using the fast and slow MA settings to get signals from channel breakouts.

I understand how to set the MAs to give the top and bottom of a channel, but how do you get alerts from that ? If you use Single MA you'll only get signals from the slow MA, and a market that can make the edges of a channel cross over is not a market I want to be in.

Or did I dream the whole thing ? :? :? :?

For the testing record neither of my test platforms took any trades in the London / New York sessions, but i have been reading the manual again and I'm happy that it's a filters thing and the EA did what it says on the tin.

The Green Up arrow appeared doesn't mean it meets the criteria to open new position. Read the manual.

However You can input your own template name in the EA, then click on that Up Green arrow, a chart with your template will pop-up.

You can trade manually if you think your template setup (RSI or stoch or Macd) meet the same criteria of an Up trend.

trading period is from 7.00 to 17.00 ,my timezone is Paris\Vienna

In your 'mad ea set1 style.txt'-settings file, you have configured 3 time frames, M5, M15 and H1, and require 4 Up (or Dn) arrows on M5 and on M15 and on H1. This situation does occur sometimes, but not very often. It certainly does not occur on the screenshot you attached (the second image) (none of the currencies has 4 of the same arrows on H1 for instance).

In your 'mad ea set2 setup.txt'-setings file, you have configured 5 time frames, M1, M5, M30, H1 and H4, and require 5 Up (or Dn) arrows on M1 and 4 on M5. The other time frames (M30, H1 and H4) are not included in the 'currency strength test'. This condition (5 arrows on M1 and 4 arrows on M5) will happen a lot more frequent, than the first condition (on demo 1), however, on the screenshot you attached (the first image) none of the currency groups is currently strong or weak according to this rule.

What you 'see' as good trends, needs to be evidenced by the arrows on the screen and the Strong/Weak classification system. MAD-EA follows a set of rules, the parameters of which you can change.

If you really want to see some action, configure TimeFrame1=1, RequiredSignals1=At least 4 same signals, and set RequiredSignals2, ... RequiredSignals6 to 'Not included in Strength Test'. As soon as you get 4 the same arrows on M1, the currency group is considered Strong or Weak. It will then need at least one Strong currency group (XXX) and one Weak currency group (YYY) to trade long XXXYYY (depending still on the Slow and Fast MA - rules on the TradingTimeFrame). This is all explained in the MadUserGuide. Note that with these settings, you will see some action, but it doesn't mean that trades will be profitable.

Thank you Ren for coding a masterpiece and classy GUI.

It has come handy for a trader like me who has health problem sitting before the computer for long . I use it only for analysis purpose and not trading purpose.

No, there is a logical problem with that. Say, you have 1 Up arrow and 1 Down arrow. Is that Strong or Weak?
There are always 7 currency pairs in a group. We need the majority of these seven pairs to point Up or Down. So, at least 4 need to be pointing Up or pointing Down, in order to make a judgement whether the currency is strong or weak. If there are 5, 6 or 7 pointing in the same direction, than that would make their strength (or weakness) even more obvious. But you can't say anything with one arrow.

I thought that this was obvious, but I was wrong.
