Hi Bob,

I have a couple of GBP/AUD trades (buys) open at present that have got me a little worried and I was wondering if the following is a fair interpretation of CSS at present regarding this pair:

- The GBP and AUD lines were roughly parallel from mid May until late May; this means the pair was ranging.
- During this time, GBP was stronger (on CSS) causing strong upward price action.
- Now, however, the two lines are no longer parallel and GBP has weakened significantly. This means the ranging will continue but the strong upward movements won’t happen as frequently or won’t be as strong.

Thank you for opening this new thread and drawing attention to CSS.

James

I'll include a screenshot of my CSS just in case.

Again a unexpected news story hit and sent the gbp into a tailspin. HGI should have told you things weren't going right. I got burned on the gbp/jpy trade when both had news stories that changed directions on both. That is why it's called CSS with HGI. When both agree you should have lots of consistent winners. If CSS is saying one thing and HGI is giving you arrows in the opposite direction something has happened. The beauty is you don't need to know a news story has hit HGI will tell you somethings up.

So my first week back into trading in over a year was a loser. It happens but you all know my favorite saying because I'm trading again next week:

I trade in a way that allows me to trade again the next day. I trade in a way that allows me to sleep all night, take multiple day trips away from my computer, watch a movie on TV when NFP happens every month. Yes that is what I do every NFP. I set my trades for the night about 15M before the market open and watch a movie. Come back in 2 hours and see what happened.

Bob, thanks for reviving the CSS threads.

Attached is the Daily CSS chart.
GBP. EUR and USD pointing down.
NZD, JPY and AUD pointing up.

So.

looking for HGI shorts signals for GBPJPY, GBPNZD, GBPAUD, USDJPY, EURAUD, EURNZD, and EURJPY.

looking for HGI long signals for NZDUSD, AUDUSD.

i am trying out Steve's HBG n GRID with trade long only/trade short only on H4 to try and catch the trades.

I chose eur/NZD and eur/AUD. One went up and one went down at NFP. Go figure. And as the rule always in Forex a trade going in the hole goes twice as fast as a trade going into profit. Never did figure out how that happens. :x

Unfortunately, no signals on H4 on NFP but on H1 BUY signals for AUDUSD and NZDUSD and SELL signal for USDJPY. NFP below forecast, so USD fell.

So, the HGB ea net is empty !

Oanda reports:

During events such as the upcoming Brexit referendum, market movements can be significant leading to the potential for large profits, but also large losses. To help ensure our customers are more insulated from such movements, we will be temporarily lowering the maximum leverage available on GBP pairs to 20:1 after the market close on June 17, 2016. The affected pairs will return to prior leverage levels after the market close on June 24, 2016.

And CSS cannot predict the direction of the vote.

OK review of last week. GBP and USD registered as strong but with the news that the poll showing the Brits
leaving the European Union the pound took a dive. So even though it was the strongest on the chart it ended being the weakest on the board. I hope you all realize what a new story can do very quickly to Currency pairs. I suspect for the next two weeks that the pound will continue being all over the board until the vote takes place. So trade with trepidation realizing there is a chance of making a lot of money and losing a lot of money at the same time.

The dollar continued sliding from strong to back under the 20 line. It is now in range mode. So treat it accordingly. Hey if you can see the pound and a dollar running parallel which means they should range with each other. So look for good buy/sell opportunities going either way.

All other currencies are in the range area and angle up either strongly or weakly. It looks like all 3 of the Asian currencies are going to go strong this week. The new Zealand dollar looks like it's going to start trending at the beginning of the week. If it continues to trend strongly than the Australian dollar and the Japanese yen look like they will follow suit. Look for new Zealand dollar buys and if they do well then also look for Australian and Japanese buys.

I would be wary of any European currency buys or sells this week as they head into the British exit of the European Union.
The Canadian dollar is there in the middle of the pack and looks Like it can't decide whether it wants to go up or down right now. So look for it to range most of the time however you could sell it against the Asian currencies if they continue to strengthen. If the USD crosses the CAD then buy the CAD same with the Pound.

This week I will look to buy the Asian currencies against the others. Maybe later in the week I will see how the others are doing. If you are in British pound trades and you have been selling it because of the news it probably will continue in that direction or go back to ranging for the week. Since I got burned by the British pound last week I will probably leave it alone this week. Good luck trading Forex.

Hello Bob,

Thank you for sharing your precious knowledge. It has been more than 3 yrs since I first tried css but finally I am starting to realize the power...this thread would be very helpful to really read css in and out!
To fully understand css movement and market reaction, I was taking snapshot of mtf CSS last week every 30min for couple days.

I am aware you exclusively use daily CSS for reading. Reviewing last week JPY move, I have some questions.

JPY almost broke out for DT but changed direction toward 0 line. I was hesitant to buy against USD and GBP for daytrade (my trade style is within 2-3hrs within one session) because GBP and USD was the 1st 2nd strongest currency although the strength was weakening. Also did not cross (except for NZD)

However, if I move to 4H, of course GBP and USD was showing clear weakness. and strong JPY stength.

1) For daily trading pair picking purpose, how do you interpret 0 STOP sign of daily CSS?

2) When a pair shows clear change in direction, how do you analyze whether it is change in direction or just a minor pull back other than +-0.2 and 0 line? By the time clear trendline is available, it seems too late...

Even a pair cross based on slight wiggle of daily css move generates move of a day from daytrading viewpoint. It would be very helpful if you could share how sensitive you look into daily crosses with vision of session trading.

attached is 4H /DAILY CSS on 4H chart.
